  • i smoke to Tchaikovsky.

    he's cool, man

  • Nothing, really. But the Grateful Dead personifies the OCF. There's even a Jerry mask nailed to a tree on the grounds. All those old hippies listened to the Dead, y'know. But the folk waltz works.

  • i was there :) ive beein going my whole life!

  • interesting..never been there...do not have these in our part of the world...thanks for sharing...hope to visit someday!

  • oh, it's time for a road trip.........!!!!

  • Thank you for this, been out there almost 20 years now and this is a great look into what its like. the music is great also, even if its not the grateful dead.

  • Just watched this again two years later and still enjoy it. Although. . . . . Why the waltz for background music????

    Still a terrific video.

  • @mary1raymond, Thanks! Unfortunately youtube deleted my Grateful Dead overlay for copyright presumably. Tchaikovsky was next best thing :)

  • @mary1raymond whats wrong with a waltz? thx loveugodbless, t and j kabbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious

  • Very sweet family's eye view of a day at the Fair!

  • I really needed this after not being able to make it this year! Thanks, you captured the spirit beautifully! :)

  • i love OCF it is a part of me it rox i cannot wait 4 it this year

  • LMAO.

My mom took my brother and his friend (During the time when I was at Camp Wilani) and they saw those people who are usually topless (Still have them?) and pointed. It's pretty fun and interesting there though. :)

  • The country fair rules! Yes "FAIR" Bek...if you don't want to go then don't, but don't you dare make it out to be some giant drug fest. I'm 17 and been twice, sober both times. i enjoy all of the music and most of the people..Not to mention all of the sweet shit you can buy there..So fuck you.

  • This is not a happy place be prepare to descend into the most base form of debauchery humanity is capable. Drugs, gypsies, homeless all attempt to seperate you from your money as youre lsd addled mind is helplessly thrust into this grotesque "fair"...

  • @bek9999 you're correct about most of what you said except about the happiness part, these people are embracing the good part about drugs, mooching, gypsies and homelessness, -everything you see as grotesque -they see good in it, i think they're happy. and even if they consume more than they produce -as in working or having a job, they still consume very little, less than most, if not all stereotypical blue or white collar types. these people are harmless

  • @bek9999 Hey "bek," just so you know, since obviously you are not aware or else you would not have commented so unjustly, I have been to fair countless times. My first festival, I was 8 days old. This is was I grew up in. And yet, I have a 4.0 GPA, and a job. I do volunteer work.... AND I GO TO OCF every single year. Be reasonable. You do not know every single person at Oregon Country Fair, so you can't judge them all. Just like you can't judge all Germans for the Holocaust. Think about it.

  • @bek9999 I'm with you, I wish they would all stay out there.

  • perfect music to a great video-man i miss it there.....miles of smiles

  • thats where i'd like to be ;)

  • YA FOR OREGON! =) The best place to be! =)

  • i love it im 14 been goin sense i was 5 and im a hippy lol i smoke weed with people there like its a way of life, makes me feel like im home!

I hate those damn jocks there to see boobs

  • Veneta, Oregon...

  • Great VId! Sodapopkidd it is 14 miles due West of Eugene, Oregon inside 500 acres of wetlands in Veneta. It is a lot of fun and one of the best Fairs to attend. Can't beat the price rock bottom compared to lesser fairs.....this one is da bomb!

  • I know this is in Oregon, but where? We're thinking of moving to Oregon and trying to get a feel for it. Can someone give me a little more info like what city this is near, etc. Thanks!

  • It is just outside Eugene.

  • denvereddennis has shared a video with you on YouTube:

  • Umo did acrobatics on Circus stage. I didn't get to see the Royal Famille Ducaneveax this year. It was an amazing year, especially with the thunder, rain and mud on Sunday. An Epic Faire! One we will remember forever, and I have been here the 40 years (only missing Crow-the first fair in 1970) Peaches, Pax

  • i perform in the royal famille ducaniveaux and i have never missed a fair my whole life. it will be a sad day if i ever miss a fair. it really is my secod home. i know the best booths,(chalupa booth, for one) shows, ( obviously the midnight show) and its hard to cram so much good stuff into so few days!!!!countdown till fair: ONLY A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahh bless your heart,,,the girl with the tail will be there with Lsdmadman, young Trucky und a big ol' bubble gizmo soon from wintery beantown

  • this year i was on the pre fair kichen crew it was the best time of my life!!

  • some of those topless hippies should wear a shirt

  • topless hippies are the kind that go to events like this. There's also a lot of hippies on drugs. Like a Grateful Dead Concert! Ha ha

  • dad was at the first in 1969 (and each year thereafter), Mom was at the second in 1970 (and each year thereafter). The met and married in 1973. My brother came along for his first fair in 1976, and I for mine in 1978. OCF 2008 in my 30th anniversary. By the By, Erika does the best face/body painting (across from The Children's Stage). She will take as much time with you as necessary, and the costs are very fair. Love Her! See you all in 8 weeks!

  • haha wow!

OCF is definitely one of my favorite places EVER!

i have never missed one year in my whole life..

i grew up there and it is pretty much my home away from home!

  • this is what i live for.

i perform in girl circuz on the w.c. field stage!

    its incredible

    can't wait till next fair!

  • As I sit here in my apartment in Tokyo, I watch these videos and think of the many years I was part of this family. My father worked as a nurse at Whitebird in the 80's ...ah, I can still smell the Canterbury Candles our friend made and taste LuLus smoothies....With the Dead leading the way for this cherished memory...Thank you for posting!! I hope that the fair hasnt lost too much of the charm it had in the 80's...The energy is too strong, the love too true. Live on OCF!!

  • Never met the "Mumbly Greasy Dudes" wandering thru the crowd...but the "Cookie Man" had halacious COOKIES!!! LOL He maybe doesn't get arrive sometimes until 4pm on Thursday but then there are always plenty of "Rice Krispie squares" soon as you get there..."Breakfast of Champions"...LOL

  • Well...I went for 8 yrs in a row & had "Fairytopia" at the Darling Reunion Campground 2 yrs ago. Missed last yr as had moved to Sequim,WA & couldn't make it. Thought I was going to miss this yr also BUT watch these Videos most "every" day & can't see missing "another" yr!

  • I miss that Eugene vibe...

  • Very good! Ive missed the last few years of it but this vid lets me assure you Ill be back there in 08 Garnteeeed!

  • I wasn't there in '07 but I was in '04 and '05..It was awesome both times. And the hude chess set is awesome! I played it with my friends. Their booth was just down by the stage...I don't know which one, but it was right around the chess set. Ah, memories..

  • I was there!!!

  • Beware, the mumbly, greasy dudes, walking against the crowd... they're acid is good shit!

  • Awesome ! I just went back for Eugene Celebration 2007 !

    - check it - Marv Ellis on MySpace - born & raised in Eugene, roots W.12th Ave.

  • so cool! thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • This one is the best. You did a great job of capturing "it all". I noticed the absence of a parade, but I was there on Friday and the lack of parades was really obvious. This is the video I will share with friends who have never been there.

  • Thanks! Unfortunately I missed the parade but still a fabulous time!

  • thanks! I haven't had a chance to go in 17 years...dang! Looks just like it did then.

  • Excellent! For years, as you may know, the OCF banned any video on the premises. Now, in the age of video phones and You Tube, the sights and sounds of the OCF are available to anyone. Thanks for such a good representation of the Fair and its very unique magic.

  • Thank you....! This is the best video I've seen for showing the intimacy even in the middle of the crowds, as well as a broad sampling of the creativity at the Fair.
