  • @BreannaAiedail Lyrics to Kalinka, English, Part 3---

    Little snowberry, snowberry of mine!

Little raspberry in the garden, my little! (word by word: in garden raspberry little, little mine!)---

Ah, under the pine, the green one,

    Lay me down to sleep,

    Ah, rock-a-baby,

    Lay me down to sleep.---

(Continued in Part 4....will have to be three parts. More letters in the English version!)

  • @BreannaAiedail Kalinka, Part 4, English---

    Little snowberry, snowberry of mine!

Little raspberry in the garden, my little! (word by word: in garden raspberry little, little mine!)---

Ah, little pine, little green one,

    Don't rustle above me,

    Ah, rock-a-baby,

    Don't rustle above me.---

    Little snowberry, snowberry of mine!

Little raspberry in the garden, my little! (word by word: in garden raspberry little, little mine!)---

(okay, now for the last part (hopefully!))

  • @BreannaAiedail Lyrics to Kalinka, Part 5, English---

    Ah, you beauty, pretty maiden,

    Fall in love with me,

    Ah, rock-a-baby,

    Fall in love with me.---

    Little snowberry, snowberry of mine!

Little raspberry in the garden, my little! (word by word: in garden raspberry little, little mine!)

And I'll have to go back and re-post the Russian...for some reason, it's not showing up. That was Parts 1 and 2.

  • @BreannaAiedail Kalinka, Part 1, Russian (again!)--- Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka moya! V sadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya!--- Akh, pod sosnoyu, pod zelenoyu, Spat' polozhite vy menya! Ay-lyuli, lyuli, ay-lyuli, Spat' polozhite vy menya.--- Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka moya! V sadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya!--- Akh, sosyenushka ty zyelyenaya, Nye shumi zhe nado mnoy! Ay-lyuli, lyuli, ay-lyuli, Nye shumi zhe nado mnoy!--- (continued in Part 2)
  • @BreannaAiedail Kalinka, Part 2, Russian--- Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka moya! V sadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya!--- Akh, krasavitsa, dusha-dyevitsa, Polyubi zhe ty menya! Ay-lyuli, lyuli, ay-lyuli, Polyubi zhe ty menya!--- Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka moya! V sadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya! The End. Just copy and paste the text, it should work. I don't know why they have to make it so difficult to post lyrics on YouTube! Enjoy.
  • @justforever96 Thank you!!!!! That was a major help :D

  • Now I need to drink...to the mother land!

  • mmmm vodka

  • **moshes** LMFAO I LOVE THIS SHIT!!

  • idk wot any of the words reli say but dont this song make u wana dance ne?

  • But... It isn't tatu.

  • sucks this song is not on itunes

  • Wonder what comrade Stalin would think about t.A.T.u.

    Hmm...

  • @StrewberryWhite LOL I could see Stalin out there doing the traditional Russian dance I have done it before in Moscow with professional Russian folk dancers one dressed like a Bear its harder than it looks but all ours was in real Russian I learned how to sing this whole thing in Russian its a hard language to learn

  • sucks!

  • @TIMKRAN troll

  • It's Yamboo not t.A.T.u. .... Stupid

  • This is not Tatu it is Yamboo isnt it ???

  • i luv this song so much t.A.T.u. is awesome. is the first part in like russian or something? english or not it sounds awesome.

  • @switzpop Yeah, t.A.T.u is awesome, but this is actually "Yamboo"...I think people are mistaken because t.A.T.u did a cover of this song, and they are better known, so people think that it was the other way around. But the first lines are indeed Russian...see my other post(s). It's an old Russian song, and Yamboo took the chorus to make this new song out of it. Of course, the old part is what makes the song so cool...without the "Kaa...Ka-lin-ka! Kalinka moya!" part, it would be very ordinary.

  • This song is SO catchy!

  • why does everyone think this is tatu?

  • GuT.

  • this song always puts me in a good mood : )

  • really catchy song... / i don't know there names... idgaf... there HOT AS ALLLL HELL!! :O

  • песня красивая !!!

  • This is the best song to get drunk: KALINKA KALINKA KALINKA

  • TATU FTW *o*

  • wierd!!

  • Comment removed

  • =D -dances-

  • Kalinka = "snowberry" Malinka = "little, female". "My little snowberry"...it's an ollllld love song. I never realized it was also about vodka! LOL. t.A.T.u. = sexy as hell. I always liked Yulia the best, but Lena is getting even more beautiful as she gets older,

  • everything is about vodka in russia

  • LOL, nice. I should have guessed =D I'm sooo THERE! And I got SEVENTEEN "thumbs up" on my last comment! Holy shit, that's a new personal record! Thanks everybody...I'm going to frame the screenshot and hang it on my wall. (LOL, that is just a JOKE, okay!?)

  • @justforever96

Malinka - Malina - Raspberry, lol.

I do think I'm better at Russian.

  • @Dimandian Oh....oops, you're right....

    "Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka moya!

V sadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya!"

    =

    "Little snowberry*, snowberry of mine!

Little raspberry in the garden, my little! (word by word: in garden raspberry little, little mine!)"

    *"snowberry" = "juniper berry"

I think I was thinking that the song was called "Kalinka, Malinka"...I don't know why. Probably because I don't speak Russian. I wish I did, but you are right. Thanks, I appreciate you for furthering my education.

  • @Dimandian Wait....I know why I thought that "malinka" meant "little"....in the Russian part it says "malinka, malinka moya", and then the English says "little, little mine", so I figured that it must mean "little". Are you saying that "malinka" means "little raspberry" and "malina" is plain old "raspberry"? Does that mean that "kalinka" means "little snowberry" and "kalina" is just plain "snowberry"?

If so, then why does it translate as "little mine", and not "little raspberry of mine"? o.0

  • @justforever96 actually malinka is raspberry in Bulgarian. In Russin it really is "little". And kalinka is a bug....ladybug... Dunno what hit Dimandian in the head, but he's far from the truth...

  • @sladurska Ladybug? I never saw that in any translations...are you sure it doesn't also mean "juniper berry"? I guess "my little ladybug" COULD work...they are in the garden I guess. I think I'll have to go and look into it more! I'm confused now. Is the "-linka" part like a Russian suffix to denote something small, like "-ette" in English?

  • @justforever96 usually yes, but ladybug has only this form... if you google the word, you'll see all the results lead to ladybug images. Checking with wikipedia, turns out that Juniper berry would be Шишкоягоды. Sounds pretty different from kalinka :]

on a side note, I just noticed this song isn't sung by t.A.T.u. There is the original video of the song here on youtube, artist is a group called Yamboo o.o

  • @sladurska I have no idea how to pronounce "Шишкоягоды"! I don't even know how to TYPE that! LOL. I had to "copy and paste" just to get it here. Cyrillic is just gibberish to me, ignorant American that I am. Languages aren't my strong point in any case. And I know that it's not actually t.A.T.u. I don't know why so many people seem to think that it is...there are several videos with this song that say "tatu". I don't know much about "Yamboo", but I like the song okay.

  • @justforever96

Lol. Never heard of Shiskoyagody. There is no word like that :3

  • @Dimandian What? When did I say "Shiskoyagody"? I've never heard of it either. Is this some kind of joke that I'm missing? Or is that how you pronounce that "Шишкоягоды" word that "sladurska" wrote? Because I haven't a clue what that says. Do you know how to pronounce that in Russian? And what it means in English?

  • @justforever96

Maybe it was hard to make a translation of song with word raspberry.

By the way, they may have meant "Маленький" (malenkiy) as little, idk.

  • @Dimandian I'm definitely going to have to learn to read Cyrillic some day....it looks like absolute gibberish to me! At least Chinese or Sanskrit looks completely alien...Cyrillic has to add a few letters that LOOK like English letters, but are totally different. I think it's a conspiracy to make me feel stupid. (Not really...I can do that just find without any help! LOL)

  • @justforever96

I could wish you good luck in this. English was really easy, French then, but German... Hell, I would never get this language.

  • @Dimandian LOL, yeah, German is an interesting language. I'm glad I already know English, because I hear to a lot of people it can be a difficult language to learn, because so many parts of it have their own rules. It's easier when a language is the same all through. I know a little French, and I find that once you learn French, Spanish mostly makes sense. English is kind of the same, but with a lot of odd words and forms descended from old German, the Anglo-Saxons. "Through", "draught", etc,
