@peterglynnfilms She most definately was. I was looking at the dresses she use to where. How did woman survive in those tight waisted dresses???? Must have damaged there insides.!!!!
@roelevers1 Victoria was quite pretty when young. Perhaps 9 pregnancies aged her before her time. She was only 4'9", and even a little excess weight made her look older than she really was.
Alix of Denmark is my favorite queen consort because she's stunning. She's much beautiful than Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Diana and even Queen Victoria. If I were Edward VII, I will be faithful and loyal to her as husband.
@hovie234 Sadly, Alix was deaf and uneducated, hence out of her depth with "the smart set" and preoccupied with her children too much for the randy Edward to hold his interest for long. Like Diana, she buried her hurt in charitable works.
@Quatorzel4 I do not know how you can compare Alex with Di! They are worlds apart. Charles is like Albert, in that he will not be appreciated until he is dead. Diana was a disaster in my opinion. (No offence inteded to you.)
@normalil Both women were beautiful and fashion setters. Both were uneducated. Both had a way with children and commoners. Both had Prince of Wales husbands who were openly unfaithful to them. Both busied themselves with charitable works. Both had a cast in one eye. Both were popular with the people. Diana died young, Alix lived to being her 80s.
@vboolka1084 how can only HRH elizabeth be the Queen and Philip be only a Prince, whilstmarried to her????
He is Prince Consort. If he were King he would be co-ruler with her as with William and Mary. The Queen and Parliament would have to agree to make him King. Mary so demanded as a condition of coming to Britain to rule and Parliament agreed. If he had been King of somewhere else, the details as to who ruled what would have been ironed out in both countries before the wedding.
@vboolka1084 Legally, this is so because a husband does not attain the status held by his wife in her own right, whereas a wife does attain the equivalent status of her husband. This is common law.
@histrav The titles & styles used by Prince Philip are those specially given to him. They are not simply by right of marriage. He is a "Prince of the United Kingdom" only by special creation of his wife (in 1957). Before that, he was granted the peerage of the dukedom of Edinburgh by his father-in-law,George VI. At the time of his marriage he was known as Lt. Philip Mountbatten, as he had renounced his princely status as a prince of Greece & Denmark to become a naturalized British subject.
She is better a lot than Diana, I like her , she looks so elegant and loyal to family and kids too. A decent people. I wish I can have old pictures of my pretty grandma too, she is also very beautiful. Not too much young time pictures left, only one, she has a pair of phoenix eyes. and sunflower seeds shape face. Small cheery lips. :)
@karenofbethany re:difficulty in finding things out about her: that is because she had all of her personal papers burned upon her death. There is one book by Georgina Battiscomb, I believe, that chronicles her life, but as for any other papers, they've long been ash. It's too bad, too. What is interesting are the wealth of photographs of her; and she was very interested in photography and picture development. She took one of the first pictures of Queen Victoria.
This is magnificent! Thankyou so much.

she was very beautiful; the most beautiful "product' of the english empire.
Victoria was ugly and Enpress Elisabeth of Austria praised "Alex" for her outstanding taste in fashion.

She was a great classical beauty -- the ancient Greeks would have carved her visage in stone!

How is that her life story has not been made into a movie? Certainly one of the most intrigue royal lives past or present.
