  • I am a huge Kill Hannah fan (they covered this song) but I have to say this original version is nothing less than amazing.

  • Arived in Australia from Europe in 18th of March 1988 .This was the first song i listened in the taxi i took from the airport. I ll never forget it....

  • Damn..this is my favorite song

  • What a beautiful song i've loved this tune for decades....

  • This song never gets old. Love it!

  • love that song

  • oh mightn't i have known what you would find?

  • Hear what God of Israel YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH (Son and Father are ONE) saying to our generation by His chosen prophets: Trumpetcallofgodonline. com ; Letter called "Purify Your Faith, and Come to the Father as It is Written": EXCERPT: "Only in the Bible and through these very Letters, of which I have given to My prophet of the end of this age, shall you find Him and know Him."

    Regards.

  • saw the church play in brisbane last night. this song is very special to me, and it was so beautifully overwhelming to hear it live :)

  • Irony is when "Snickers" uses this in a commercial.

  • Sweet song

  • Awesome one of kind song.

  • Awesome one of kind song.

  • The finest alt-rock band Australia has ever produced.

  • @rollotwomassey

    What about Midnight Oil?

  • @richardaiken1 I'm aware of their work...

  • @rollotwomassey

    Just making sure.

  • ♥ hmmm..

  • I have always loved this song!

  • I like this song!

  • I've always preferred a Milky Way over a Snickers.

  • I keep expecting this vocalist to burst out with "She couldn't wait another day for the captain of her heart".

  • DAMN, that's a slamming playlist!!!!

  • like a mix of the cure and oasis.yummy.

  • @MediAndClaire well a bit

  • Just discovered this today. Wonderful song.

  • great song...

  • donnie darko!

    haha mad song

  • J'entends souvent cette chanson à la radio en ce moment. Je pensais qu'elle été du groupe Kill Hannah... En tout cas, j'aime les deux versions, mais j'ai un léger coup de coeur pour celle-ci tout de même :)

  • Fucking brilliant. This band was an obvious inspiration for Chris Martin and Coldplay.

  • I really don't know who Donnie Darko is BUT I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • why does it say "audio only" what am i supposed to be looking for videos in brale?

  • @coreymotherfuckingri I think it's braile and i suppose the uploader is telling you if you want to see the actual clip you won't here

  • @coreymotherfuckingri he means its not a music video. I fail to see how thats so hard to understand.

  • This was in donnie darko?

  • @arcadus I don't remember it being in Donnie Darko, but then again, I haven't watched it in over a year

  • @weballin32 it plays during the halloween party scene, but only in the original version (not the directors cut)

  • I don't understand the problem people have with someone saying that they discovered a certain song through *something something*

If it gets the band more exposure, who cares? Maybe that person will go on to listen to more stuff by the Artist.

  • @oxfordye maybe some people are more passive fans and only care to know about the church through one song. and the source that they heard this song from is a reflection of how appreciated this song is and the band who created it.

  • i like music

  • When the people who think Frank brought me here is some loser because they obviously haven't seen "DD" for Frank think that it's better to have nobody brought me here. LIKE IT BECAUSE IT'S TRUE AND YOU MOTHER FUCKERS ARE ALL HIGH JUST LIKE ME! YEAH!!

  • Why are you wearing that stupid human mask?

  • THE CHURCH FOREVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER...FUCK THE "NE WAVE" THAT PEOPLE THINK THEY LISTEN TO..THIS IS THE REAL THING!

  • @pajaritodelodio why not both ? do u really have to hate something to enjoy something else ?

  • rocks! x

  • nothing beats new wave 80s

  • @pulburones25 this isn't new wave

  • follow this one up with Maggie May

  • i don't know what i wanna be when i grow up. well, not that but i'm not sure if i wanna make a thrash band or a melodic band like this. i wanna mix the two. new metal sucks. screaming n drop a doesn't impress me. i wanna revive decent music

  • @djmm1397 SAME HERE!! It's funny, my favorite artists now are Opeth, and Nick Cave. Both of which are super inspirational in the kind of music I'd like to compose.

  • @djmm1397 Is there any rule that says that one band can't make different styles of music?

    Go for it man!

  • gabeyoung12345's mother brought me here

  • Only in the 80's.

  • donnie darko brought me here ....(y)

  • 49 people are not under the milky way 2nite!

  • My teacher sang this song to us in class...It was great B]

  • I heard this on trigger happy tv. and managed to catch the milky way lyrics! ^__^

  • Reading about songs that use an e-bow brought me here, I always thought that was a real bagpipe.

  • @afakaz The solo is two guitars, one with an e-bow and one with a waw? I thought it was a waw guitar and bagpipes.

  • @afakaz

check out any early Big Country, REM (Ebow the Letter), Thin Lizzy Black Rose album, or Run Run Away by ???

  • spacelizard....you've stumped me? I can't begin to even guess the meaning of your cipher.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?

Back to the song....this, and REPTILE off the same album....awesome. SURREAL...though not as surreal as the Lizard King.

  • A little open letter to 'THE CHURCH' from an old friend...

Sometimes "IT' scares-me a little still...

What I'd started out to do in 1964 & nailed to a cross by 1979 & still kick with today but if I'd have told you or anyone else SHITE would've hit the fan far more than it did so I-just had to steel myself to misunderstanding & crossed transactions as well as the malicious spin that is central to black-ops...

Pray they let-me go now while there's still a little time to work some harmonies...

  • Fuck Donnie Darko this song was out well before that piece of shit

  • @guins99 Hey how did your Steelers do today?

  • @baxtersave96

Really? I thought Donnie Darko was fantastic, and so is this song.

  • @oxfordye O.K. I admit it I never saw Donnie Darko. It's just that everyone seems to refer to that film when this song had come out well before that

  • Donnie Darko :)

  • this music is a cube what is can bring ours to back in life where borned the style or feelings what are created this song .. if u understand me ... its a timetraveling art piece or how i can say it :D u know ...

  • my playlist brought me here

  • Coheed brought me hear. lol

  • The love of the band "the Church" brought me here. Thanks for upping a decent quality version of it that isn't a cover!

  • Miami Vice brought me here.

  • Sheesh. A guy in a movie had sex with his girlfriend to this song--that's all.

  • There is nothing like the strumming of a 12 string acoustic guitar

  • I remember listening to this song on a Walkman one night while standing in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert in '90. This is Australia's 'Wonder Wall'.

  • @theding101

Never though of it that way, but you're right, this is the earlier "wonder wall", how succinct.

  • @theding101 I served in the GW as Well... Thanks for Your Service!

  • the fact that I, amazingly, made it out of the 80s brought me here.....wheeeew

  • @metalheadnick555 Both great songs :)

  • @metalheadnick555 I hear the cure in it a little too. And your right, it's not a bad thing :)

    I LOVE THIS!!!!

  • Scotch and Trent from Punchy brought me here. I fucking loved every minute of it.

  • 80's "Alternative" music was awesome, I have some of these artists in my music collection; you can listen to metal and hard rock only so much in a day, week or months, variety is good.

  • nobody brought me here i got here by myself cause i aint no tool

  • @Jock4Jesus So you have no parents? Of course not, nothing in the world affects you. You real cool. You aint no tool.

  • @Jock4Jesus thats what every hipster says.

  • @Jock4Jesus My uncle brought me here. :3

  • @Jock4Jesus If you think the fact that you didn't hear this song first in a movie makes you cool, then you're a tool. If you're posting about that in an attempt to play king of the mountain of coolness, and make others feel lame, you're an even bigger tool. Sell your arrogance and purchase love simplicity. Like Jesus said, right?

  • @Silenus6 What you just said about a movie made no sense. I was referring to people saying `youtube user got me here` and jesus is my homeboy we rape christians together.

  • These guys were from Australia..I think...

  • @hricl Yes they are.

  • Frank brought me here.

    Went to buy BEER ...

  • thumbs up if you herd this on a lincoln commercial, then on an episode of prison break, then came looking for it on YT. What? I'm the only one?

  • Donnie Darko? Christina Applegate? How about coming here because The Church is awesome and the amazingness of this song ALONE brought you here?!

  • @nomnomchikhan

  • Without the truth, there can be no real morality, justice, equality, success, freedom, love, security, peace, spirituality or even survival. If you are seeking the truth, search "Truth Contest" in Google, then open The Present on the homepage and read what it says.

  • The 80s such a surreal memory,it was great !

  • T.H.E greatest song of ALL TIME!

  • Love this jewel.

  • This song kills me...

  • I love this song (heard it in the soundtrack to Donnie Darko, obviously) - and I actually discovered it unexpectedly when I was told of the unbelievable resemblance between its melody and that of a much later song by UK space-rock noisemongers Six By Seven called I.O.U. Love. I think everybody should give this latter song a good listen and prepare to be absolutely gobsmacked by how much it sounds like this song! :)

  • Music Choice brought me here haha

  • Thumbs up if you couldn't care less where you heard the song, and you are here because it is amazing.

  • What a lovely song ... I'd love to hear Echo & The Bunnymen do a version, just minimal with Ian singing and Will on guitar, maybe a bit of drums. It almost sounds like them anyway...

  • They sound like Double

  • prob my fave song ever ever..beautiful melancholy

  • The cold strings. The cold stars.

  • my own good taste brought me here!!!!!

  • Terrific piece of music.....

  • The fact that my mother listens to good music brought me here ;)

  • @gabeyoung12345 I hear you. My brother brought me here.

  • Do not dispair to hear such things. This is the song of one's heart, and that may touch apon yours. However, remember that each heart is unique; and that song, that one song, that shall be the mark you leave apon this world. Sing, Giz. Sing and show us your heart.

  • This song was played on a Miami Vice show many moons ago and the music the vibe and the story was all put together just as if they made the episode for this song. A great tune!!!!

  • I think your right (gazizzerbumph) a truly astoundingly beautiful and brilliant track like this comes around only a few times in one's life - and whilst it inspires the deepest of melancholy and emotions - to the aspiring musician it may also crush all aspirations due to its seemingly unattainable creativity. All I can say as a fellow musician is - you are, must have been gifted to have been so transfixed...

  • 20 years old. In a band and writing songs with my friends. Along comes this song and completely demolishes any aspirations of me making a career in music. I became completely transfixed with the existential but simple brilliance of it lyrics and musical form. I wonder if it's the same feeling Brian Wilson had when he heard the Beatles...Not that I'm comparing myself to that lot. :)

  • donnie darko brought me here too! beautiful song

  • unbelievably underrated band

  • Always remember the church! Fond teenage memories.

  • This song will never die..hail to aussies...This song can make a romantic out of charlie manson!

  • full of fond memories
