I second to that ! Aside actor who played adm. Adama, Pegasus was show-saver for me... it was real tribute to show's and ship's class namesake: BATTLEstar.
The show was lame compared to the original (i.e., humans created cylons instead of them being an alien species and their machine descendants), but the special effects rocked.

quick question. does anyone else think the Pegasus's final battle scene is based on the thunderchild/martian battle in war of the worlds.

I cant help but watch these space battle amvs for stargate and galactica without listening to them with the song "I wanna be in the Cavalry" by Corb Lund...it just seems to fit well

@bizarreabomination in the new miniseries of the show adama is being told that colonialc def are all down lost contact with all 150 battlestars so that proves it the 12 battlestars where the first 1 per colonie for the first cylon war later they made much more battlestars
@TrolloftheTube Well, they did a mini-series first, so maybe they had some money left over... but yeah, the CGI is very good, especially because it is basically from 2003. Maybe they used a bunch of mini models like in LotR.

Galactica had one thing on her side and that was luck. Pegasus also didnt have a nuke hit her like the galactica. But also Galactica is a much older ship but that is what i like. I am so glad my uncle let my dad borrow these now i cant stop watching them.
Of all the sci-fi ships, the battlestars are my favorites. They not only kick some serious ass, but they can take a major beating that would turn most of the ships from Star Wars and Star Trek into scrap metal. The only ships that I see that could win a battle against a battlestar would be a super star destroyer or the Death Star.

The Colonial fleet losing Pegasus was a real loss. The fleet was in far better shape with two Battlestars protecting it then one. Pegasus was a beautiful ship.
@DeserteagleS71 In order to assume the rank of admiral you have to command more than one military vessel. Galactica was the only military vessel until Pegasus showed up and there was already a Admiral.
Admiral Cain intended to beef up Pegasus at the expense of Galactica. She got two pilots who graduated Advanced Aviator School, and Galactica got two enlisted screw ups in return.
Apollo also finished the War College so he was XO material, and Starbuck a flight instructor.
Cain sent her civilian Chief to Galactica probably because she was planning on having Chief Tyrol come to Pegasus, where he had served before.
Cain would've abandoned the fleet once Pegasus was completely rearmed.
When Cain took command of the fleet, I asked myself why didn't Roslin just promote Adama to Admiral and make him Commander In Chief of all colonial forces? I mean, she WAS the president.
@scifi75 Good question about Roslin not promoting Adama. I'm assuming that maybe her powers were limited in that role by whatever charter the The Twelve Colonies had for the presidency. I always did feel that the military pre-Cylon attack carried some sway in the government.
The Old Galactica must have had a sister Ship in the Fleet Museum or in a Shipyard that had been Mothballed. Imagine if they had done Multiple Jumps back in both series to get it.
1:17 is one of my favorite parts. It gives you an idea the fury the Twelve Colonies would have unleashed on the Cylons if they hadn't hacked the Colonial defensive network.

Pegasus fans think its awesome that she destroyed 2 base-stars on her death-charge, truth of the matter is she destroyed 3 - at 2:43 her first frontal salvos annihilate the first, her kamikaze hit takes out the 2nd, the starboard landing nacelle finishes off a 3rd. Just wanted to finally point that out to those who cared - I think it is great, and a fabulous way for the old girl to go out - RIP Pegasus. <3
This show shouldn't be classified as "scifi". It's hardcore drama! There was no mercy shown and it was brutal and very much in your face. I loved every minute of it and the commentaries were amazing. Get off the fence and buy the entire series my friends. You wont be disappointed! Thank the gods....
LOL I said part of me wished Helena Cain would have taken command. Please read and comprehend a post before firing off a reply. Now that I have had my say, I will add that Adama made a lot of mistakes but this was for the story. I understand the need of the story, hence the name Battlestar Galactica but I just feel....again my two cents so don't get all serious about an "opinion"...that he just wasn't a good commander including his decision to trust a drunken XO and to lose the Pegasus.

@nic50000 Thanks for the great discussion because it is honestly fun to have. However, I have to say this in defense. Who allowed the Fleet to get sloppy while at New Caprica? Adama did. He allowed important personnel to leave and the remaining crew to get lazy. Apollo got fat and Adama grew a mustache. It was his [Adama's] duty and obligation to enforce military protocol to the highest level including throwing his son out on his ear for losing a valuable asset that was the Pegasus.

What a waste of a ship. I enjoyed this BSG series (minus the pseudo religious claptrap that plagued what could have been a great sci-finale) but there is part of me that would have cheered Admiral Helena Cain had she airlocked the Galactica Command for treason.

I love the way the Pegasus finally fell, as a blazing warship taking out 3 basestars with her and saving Galactica. It was an excellent finish..
I only regret they didn't do something similar for Big G. She should also have gone down fighting in flames... ah well..
Yeah I know what you mean those scenes do raise a few questions, but I think at the end of the day you have to go with what the creators are saying...
If anything I would have said that even though On the subject though; Pegasus may have had twice the number of guns butGalactica's were better placed in 360 turrets. Peggie couldn't bring all hers to bear at once 'coz they're fixed in the front and sides.
@tzepesh20 I don't know where you got that one from man because I've read on the bsg site that Pegasus had twice the armour and twice the firepower of Galactica.
But Babylon 5 is/was better in every way except CGI, but when B5 was first on it was the best then as BSG is now.
Both brilliant shows. If you have not seen anything from B5 I highly recommend you check out a couple of battles. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
i like BSG but i dont like how they changed the origonal story around at all like in this clip and all the charatcers, nice graphics and all but they did not need to do this to BSG the origonal story and show was better.
I think Pegasus should have survived, no offence to folk who like Galatica. But Pegasus was much newer. I remember when i saw it ram the cylon ship and said to myself 'phew it still looks in good nick, suppose it will jump away now'
The only reason why the Pegasus looks newer than the Galactica, is because of the noticeable Battle Damages that the Galactica has sustained, since the Cylons we're focusing all their resources and efforts in destroying the Surviving 13 Colonies that the Galactica was protecting.

@TheVideoMaker001 You should remove it. Then wait a month or so before putting it back on. That worked with one of my videos. I fixed another one of mine by changing it slightly. I deleted like 2 secodns worth. Hope this helps! =)
It seemed like the Pegasus was in better shape than the Galactica initially. It probably would have been more wise to evacuate the Galactica crew and transfer to the Pegasus. I doubt the Pegasus would have been falling apart at the end of the series like the Galactica was. What do you all think?
well Pegasus is the newest ship in the fleet if you see the movie they will say that. so yeah it better in everything and Galactica is oldest one. but if I remember right Pegasus jump in and distract the enemy from Galacitca. So Galactica can escape. beside the TV show name bettlestar Galatica so Galactica has to be there unit the end. I think we all know some where a long the way Pegasus will go down. but it go down big it took two of enemy ship with it

@scifi75 Good question about Roslin not promoting Adama. I'm assuming that maybe her powers were limited in that role by whatever charter the The Twelve Colonies had for the presidency. I always did feel that the military pre-Cylon attack carried some sway in the government.

The Old Galactica must have had a sister Ship in the Fleet Museum or in a Shipyard that had been Mothballed. Imagine if they had done Multiple Jumps back in both series to get it.

1:17 is one of my favorite parts. It gives you an idea the fury the Twelve Colonies would have unleashed on the Cylons if they hadn't hacked the Colonial defensive network.

Pegasus fans think its awesome that she destroyed 2 base-stars on her death-charge, truth of the matter is she destroyed 3 - at 2:43 her first frontal salvos annihilate the first, her kamikaze hit takes out the 2nd, the starboard landing nacelle finishes off a 3rd. Just wanted to finally point that out to those who cared - I think it is great, and a fabulous way for the old girl to go out - RIP Pegasus. <3

This show shouldn't be classified as "scifi". It's hardcore drama! There was no mercy shown and it was brutal and very much in your face. I loved every minute of it and the commentaries were amazing. Get off the fence and buy the entire series my friends. You wont be disappointed! Thank the gods....

LOL I said part of me wished Helena Cain would have taken command. Please read and comprehend a post before firing off a reply. Now that I have had my say, I will add that Adama made a lot of mistakes but this was for the story. I understand the need of the story, hence the name Battlestar Galactica but I just feel....again my two cents so don't get all serious about an "opinion"...that he just wasn't a good commander including his decision to trust a drunken XO and to lose the Pegasus.

@nic50000 Thanks for the great discussion because it is honestly fun to have. However, I have to say this in defense. Who allowed the Fleet to get sloppy while at New Caprica? Adama did. He allowed important personnel to leave and the remaining crew to get lazy. Apollo got fat and Adama grew a mustache. It was his [Adama's] duty and obligation to enforce military protocol to the highest level including throwing his son out on his ear for losing a valuable asset that was the Pegasus.

What a waste of a ship. I enjoyed this BSG series (minus the pseudo religious claptrap that plagued what could have been a great sci-finale) but there is part of me that would have cheered Admiral Helena Cain had she airlocked the Galactica Command for treason.

I love the way the Pegasus finally fell, as a blazing warship taking out 3 basestars with her and saving Galactica. It was an excellent finish..
I only regret they didn't do something similar for Big G. She should also have gone down fighting in flames... ah well..

Yeah I know what you mean those scenes do raise a few questions, but I think at the end of the day you have to go with what the creators are saying...
If anything I would have said that even though On the subject though; Pegasus may have had twice the number of guns butGalactica's were better placed in 360 turrets. Peggie couldn't bring all hers to bear at once 'coz they're fixed in the front and sides.

But Babylon 5 is/was better in every way except CGI, but when B5 was first on it was the best then as BSG is now.
Both brilliant shows. If you have not seen anything from B5 I highly recommend you check out a couple of battles. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I think Pegasus should have survived, no offence to folk who like Galatica. But Pegasus was much newer. I remember when i saw it ram the cylon ship and said to myself 'phew it still looks in good nick, suppose it will jump away now'

The only reason why the Pegasus looks newer than the Galactica, is because of the noticeable Battle Damages that the Galactica has sustained, since the Cylons we're focusing all their resources and efforts in destroying the Surviving 13 Colonies that the Galactica was protecting.

@TheVideoMaker001 You should remove it. Then wait a month or so before putting it back on. That worked with one of my videos. I fixed another one of mine by changing it slightly. I deleted like 2 secodns worth. Hope this helps! =)

It seemed like the Pegasus was in better shape than the Galactica initially. It probably would have been more wise to evacuate the Galactica crew and transfer to the Pegasus. I doubt the Pegasus would have been falling apart at the end of the series like the Galactica was. What do you all think?

well Pegasus is the newest ship in the fleet if you see the movie they will say that. so yeah it better in everything and Galactica is oldest one. but if I remember right Pegasus jump in and distract the enemy from Galacitca. So Galactica can escape. beside the TV show name bettlestar Galatica so Galactica has to be there unit the end. I think we all know some where a long the way Pegasus will go down. but it go down big it took two of enemy ship with it
