suppose cchr was actually just trying to help young people, and that they didn't actually recruit any of the college students into scientology. Then what should they have done differently? Should they have to avoid all schools because some people think it's culty to do that?
I see a lot of jesus stuff at my college. They want you to become a nun to serve them for your entire life. I guess its a cult then.
The problem is that the CCHR isn't about helping people. Maybe some of the people in it think that, but the agenda is to get people into Scientology.
Is that an outright problem? It wouldn't be, if it weren't the fact that the Cult is notoriously dishonest, abuses its members, and viciously attacks anyone who tries to speak their mind. Google Paulette Cooper to see an example.
If they were open about what they did, then they should be free to preach. Otherwise, it's abusing students' trust.
Well said bud. That is exactly right. No religions get to express views in public universities, why should Scientology's cult get the right? Now, in private universities, this is different. BUT, in a public university setting, it is unacceptable. ~~~ D.E.
It gets worse! Check out user slumstoschool - Two scientology volounteers bringing Scientology doctrine to Indian orphans. Plain Wrong. Wish I had a cam so I could make a response!
You don't need a cam. If you get editing software, you can splice together sound (you might have a microphone) and images, and then publish it. It doesn't have to be video strictly.
Agreed, relegious(and/or cult) teachings should not be woven into academic teachings. The whole point of acidemic teaching is to better people as a whole, and relegion/belief is "suppost" to better a person as an individual. As for the psychiatrists, as a practice they are ment to listen and give personal thought on the measure. They (as a rule) are NOT manipulitave(sp?), but rather there as a source to open up to, and talk to on an unbias level.
This is what worries me. Schools are full of people who are educated, but also people who are still learning. If they see that display in the school they may mistake it for something legitimate and safe.

Why don't you let psychiatrists defend themselves instead of sticking up for them? I'm not a scientologist but I agree with their points on antipsychiatry and I'm thankful they exist otherwise there's no chance in stopping psychiatry.
You say in your video that the holocaust happened before psychiatry was even invented but this isen't true. Psychiatry has been around for over 200 years so at least try and get your facts right before making a vid.
Exactly. The commenter fails to counter my actual point, which was that the CCHR's message doesn't belong in schools, not that psychiatry didn't exist when the holocaust was happening.
I was actually studying to become either a psychiatrist or a psychologist, so I have my own damn reasons for "sticking up" for them. They're my friends, and were going to be my colleagues. That and I can stand up for any cause I want, just like he stands up for his.
As I listen I am wondering about the Christians who get permission to "recruit" more people for their churches, and all the churches which abut my alma maters, I don't know.
Christians express belief on my college campus, so why shouldn't a Scientological mouthpiece organization "preach" their dogma?
Both it would seem have the right to be on public uni campuses in America. I still maintain its up to tenured profs to help contextualize such aspects of campus life in their classes.
It's up to the university to maintain academic standards. Any legitimate academic publication subjects articles to peer review. Concordia obviously made no effort to look into Scientology's assertions.

it's laughable to try to blame the holocaust on psychiatry.
it's laughable to try to annihilate psychiatry (what Scientology aims to do) and replace it w/ scientology.

As always, another well-expressed logically constructed good point. Wise words indeed.
