  • wann ist der immer???

    der Cup

  • 0:53, they are lucky bastards

  • @afterburnerpak There is nothing called luck in sailing, only skill

  • @SOFTAIRBULLET indeed, i forgot that

  • this is so... unbelievable...

  • So what do you do once it goes over? Are you pretty much screwed, or can you get them back upright? I am assuming the first, but if not I would love to see how they uncapsize...

  • @TheFrySauce you point the sail into the wind, climb up on the centerboard, and lean like hell! (atleast that's what i do with my hobie 18, you might need a tow boat for these big ones)

  • @TheFrySauce they use a powerful diesel RIB or a couple of support RIBs to pull them over, with the crew leaning over etc

  • 0:53 awesome sailing!

  • That looks better then sex!

  • Thanks guys, I was actually wondering the same. Thanks for the lesson:)

I system called the captain? It looks like it happens in slow motion from where we stand but I have a feeling the view changes a little at the helm.

I would really love to sail on one of these! There is one down here in St. Thomas but I haven't had a chance.

  • Yes couldnt you have system which would automatically release the main when the boat heels more than say 40 degrees.

  • Why don't these guys just release the main when they can feel the tail rising and nose pitching down...

  • Off the wind (which is what it looked like most of them were sailing when they pitchpoled) If you release the main it opens up the head of the sail, presenting more sail to the wind and it drives the bows deeper. You need to either bare away keeping sheeted in or head up alot and dump the main. Normaly when sailing the tiger I bare away and you excellerate out of it.

  • The man speaks truth. Last thing you want to do is open up the leech. The probelm these guys have is the rudders stall very easily, zeroing their steerage and making correcting after a freak gust or wave very difficult.

I love my speed sailnig but these guys are crazy :D

  • Jacob Cromer was on that boat
