  • nice video, and tears dont fall on in the background- nice choice :)

  • Very good video sir!!!

  • BFMV <3

  • Dude! Finally someone who listens to metal! Everyone listens to that rap crap while training. I seriously wonder how they do it, rap does not pump me up, metal does. I like to listen to Walk by Pantera while boxing or any Lamb of God song.

    Awesome workouts btw.

  • @himl994 lol...yeah I love metal, motivation is important when you train, i push much harder when 1) i have awesome music and 2) i have a team behind me. Hip-hop is cool for grappling, put on mathmatics by mos def and I'll tap rickson out

  • Awesome video man, could this work with striking using elbows as well as punching?

  • @EricSemenko if you do it properly and push yourself this will help explosive power in all kinds of areas

  • @psykojojo like the bedroom =)

  • @beargrylls3 lol..yeah sure why not

  • @beargrylls3 hahahahaha

  • What are the new ones you added?

  • Good for strength and power. I don't agree with the speed aspect. Speed is muscle memory, and your brain will remember the speed WITH the weights, which is obviously slower. I do speed drills with no weights, gloves, or even hand wraps. I have my kids hit a punch pad or heavy bag as fast as they can, in 10 second bursts. Not real punches, just tap tap. Some get as many as 100 in 10 seconds. This was developed by the old Soviet amateur boxing program, Probably the only good thing they ever did.

  • wouldn't ruin your wrists and punches since there will always be only a downward force? i thought you were only supposed to do that with the really small weights.

  • I use 1lb dumbbells to mimic 16oz boxing gloves.

I do all the basic punches of boxing holding these wieghts. It's a great workout !

Love the different variations you have using these weights. I'm going to steal some of your ideas.

    You have anymore routines?

    Good job kid

  • @deltafour1212 yeah I actually have a bunch of new ones now, this video is like 2 years old. Thanks for watching dude and glad to have been of any help. Soli Deo gloria

  • it's cool that you still answer questions about a video you posted two years ago. that is rare on youtube.

  • @dowder04 i'm here to help brother, thanks for watching

  • with*

  • so you don't do it will 5lb? I thought on the description it said you do..

  • @christianleggatt No i use 5lbs but i wouldn't suggest starting with that much, work your way to that. If you do this right you'll be feeling it the next day/later that night

  • @psykojojo dont u think 5lb is REALLY light

cuz i trained boxing for a while and the big heavy weights were using a 20 kg dumbell which is like 40 pounds! I couldnt do that ofcourse

  • @theflyingpharaohmido yeah that wouldn't cut it with this, even for the bigger guys. This is about endurance and explosion

  • @psykojojo cool thanks man good vid. The others are helpful too.

  • Simple, easy, and to the point Great information!

  • Hello yea sweet tips nd the music is perfect bfmv on my no excuses playlist!

  • muy bueno

  • Thumbs up for BMFV Tears Don't Fall

  • Very good video. You know your stuff for sure.

  • Man, I want to become fit as a boxer..

  • Where are you from ? Chechenia, Albania?

  • Thums up for " Bullet for my Valentine "

  • Nice stuff, bro,,Keep the vids coming

  • was this video re uploaded or something

  • @josh1212121 No, why?

  • @psykojojo cause it says under the video "uploaded feb 22, 2010". lol

  • good shit but id give the camera man a cue card for future vids that way u dont have to say um before every exercise

  • @psychosaneify lol...thanks for watching and I'll keep that in mind

  • @psychosaneify lol...ok. Thanks for watchin

  • Haha wrong video, sorry!

  • @pandorachild

It's not blind faith, or fairy tales.. If you've read the bible, you know many things explained in the bible are happening today, right now. Don't forgo knowledge, just believe in your creator.

  • z it gud if i masturbate b4 i do diz lol or i bang a prostitute

  • listening to bullet for my valentine. nice.

  • He's fast lol.

  • I'd start with 3lbs for a month, then 4lbs and then get 5lbers - it is a different world and your speed will increase dramatically. Most exercises are found in the Title Boxing video (Speed and Power), but these are good, too. Pepper shakers are extremely difficult when keeping arms straight. Can use the weights for defense moves as well.

  • i have metal 5lb dumb bells :( i lose focus trying to not hit myself in the face while throwing punches

  • wow that's good idea i will do at home..

  • This guy should sell shamwows or the Slap Chop. Fast and Straight to the point! Thanks!

  • Would it be alright to use 2lb armweights and work up to the 5lb dumbbells?

  • @coolio1241 I would say yea....depending on how big you are. I way about 155 and I would never do this workout with 5lb weights, it's possible to hurt yourself if you push hard with too much weight

  • @psykojojo Hey man, great exercise I weight 145, what weight of dumbbells should I use? I'm thinking like 2-3 pounds, as well any exercise like this that would be good for kicks? thanks a lot mate, good luck in the feature!

  • I've read/heard that punching with weights can affect technique, damage joints, etc, I've never seen any substantial studies of this though. Anyone have opinions on this?

  • Ive been working out without weights for a few weeks now, doing sit-ups, pushups, jumprope, shadow boxing, etc. Im not really getting my heart going or "feeling the burn" any more so I want to step it up. I only have 8lb weights and Im 14 so I really don't want to screw up my body cuz I know how easy it is to mess yourself up. Suggestions/tips/solutions?

  • @BMAnnArbor you can get smaller weights for about 5$ at walmart or target, i wouldn't start with 8lbs at all dude, start small and POSSIBLY work your way up to that

  • @BMAnnArbor i have been doing this on my own about four days now before i saw this video and i started with 8 lbs i am 22 and 235 lbs and really feel like i can just barely do it so i suggest working with 4lbs

  • @BMAnnArbor Coming from someone who started training young and made a lot of mistakes because I had guidance...of the WORST kind (trainers who had no long term ambition in their fighters), start easy, start small, work up slowly. Or you get stuck with nagging shit that never goes away.

  • @xDaemonIncarnate

couldn't have said it better myself, some folk these days try to start right off the bat training too hard, and end up with physical problems that never leave them. protect your bodies by training at your level.

  • Your tears don't fallllllll, they crash around meeee! BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, new i recognized it in the background. Great video by the way

  • Kuwel thx for da reply man

  • I got 25 lbs weights but I'm thinking they might be to heavy for these drills. Anyone?

  • @pfunkallstar01 I started with 3lbs weights and did drills for 10 minutes a day for about 2 weeks. This lets muscles GRADUALLY adjust to it.

ALSO, DONT OVER EXTEND YOUR ELBOW JOINT by punching TOO HARD.

give it time, this isn't DBZ bro, so don't rush it too much.

Once you can punch 100% with the 3lbs weight(AFTER about 2 WEEKS!), then move up to 5lbs or 6lbs. I used to put both weights in one hand like an x(BACK when I couldn't afford to just buy weights like rich dude.)

  • @chrisgrinhard Then once you get used to and can punch at 100% with 5 or 6lbs move up to 10lbs weights in each hand for 100 reps(5 sets x 20 reps).

I use 15lbs weights with this system now.

I'm currently doing it at about 50% intensity cause I don't want to fuck up my elbow joints, etc.

try my system and let me know if it works for you.

IT should increase your SPEED,STAMINA,and POWER "IF" your technique is right.

Remember, progression is key,NEVER rush or injury WILL happen.

  • @pfunkallstar01 Also, another trick I use(BUT w/o weights): I call it "BLINK STRIKES". 1)stand in front mirror. 2)relax arms. 3)stare into blank space, think only "strike, strike" like hearing an impulse. 4)Blink your eyes once 5)RIGHT as you blink, with RELAXED arm, fire off an OPEN-HANDED STRIKE. 6)then CLENCH FIST ONLY RIGHT AT MOMENT OF IMPACT. 7)repeat this 50-100 times. This trains you to punch faster and more fluidly. You learn to utilize less effort.
  • @chrisgrinhard

try this with a jeet kunedo whip punch to learn the technique better.

Then adjust the concept to work for a boxing punch.

It's made my boxing style punches ALMOST as fast as my jeet kunedo style punches.

Let me know if this helps you any with your punching speed, power, stamina, technique.

    GOOD LUCK BRO.

  • can i do this with 11lb weights ?

  • @Icecubebac I would start with 3lbs weight first bro.

In fact, I did start with 3lbs weights somebody gave me.

Then moved up to 6lbs, then 10lbs(at local gym), then 15lbs(at home).

    GRADUAL PROGRESSION is key.

Don't try to jump to big weight too soon or you'll fuck up your body.

I fucked up my ankles training improperly with TOO MUCH weight too soon for football.

So when I started punching with weights, I did my RESEARCH FIRST.

    GLAD I DID.

    haven't hurt myself yet+fast hands!

  • Dont suppose you could write out a list of the exercises? Thanks. Also, do you do much own body weight exercises for boxing e.g. Press ups, chin ups, squats, lunges, dips etc

  • @MrRframpton1 I wrote alittle in the discreption area, see if that anwers anything questions. yeah I do alot of calisthenics , various types of pushups mostly, but i do some chinups, hindu squats, things of that nature. I prefer it over weights

  • @psykojojo Ok thanks, what you have done in the video is the whole routine? Obviously bar the jump-rope between rounds?

  • anybody else notice the two guys fucking in the background at the start ?

  • Nice video man. Sure you gain speed, but how about power behind the punches?

  • @littleredwagonEP yeah it's mostly designed to improve speed, but it does effect power aswell

  • BFMV hell yeah!

  • @somuchDenero I approve of this message

  • this is the most effective hand speed drill i've used. helped me better develop explosion and snap.

  • This workout is great! I'm seeing a pretty damn noticeable increases in striking prowess. I'd recommend this to everyone who competes.

  • @Brynsamir Thanks for watching brother! Soli Deo Gloria

  • @Brynsamir how long have u been doing this routine for ? i started boxing an im doing good but i need to work on my punch speed alot how long have you been doing it for before you started to really notice the effects mate??

  • @iRepForSw15 punch speed is factored by alot of things.

    1)strike technique

    2)training style/intensity + repetition

    3)time to PROGRESS

ALSO, work on your FOOTWORK, this will help your punching speed greatly.

  • @iRepForSw15

I've been boxing for about 4 and a half years. I started noticing it within the first 4 or 5 weeks. Your coach will notice it before you do though. Just be sure not to over extend, the last thing you want is to hyper extend your elbows.

  • Hey do you have any footwork drills ?

  • @johncarloLR Yes I do! I'll be working on that in the future, thanks for watching brother

  • @psykojojo Thank you :) I hope you do it soon :) I love your channel always watch all your videos. It helps me a lot in my boxing :D thanks

  • I snagged a pair of 3 lb weights that are hand shaped, and will do some of your drills. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • @HardHatDIver412 Your awesome, really, you are

  • This guy's had too muh caffeine

  • Love the explaining of going full extension...shorting the punches trains you to throw shorter ones...jabs ftw

  • These work outs are great and the system they do them in in this video is great to. I use 3 kg weights that are fist shaped. You can buy them in Tesco supermarkets. Makes a massive difference and enhances any other weight training you may do. With form and definition .... just be careful if like me you do it in your living room don't face anything expensive that a 3 kg weight could break if let go of.

  • Very helpful.

  • hahaha transcribe the audio

  • I did some of these exercises earlier, my punching speed and power has already increased significantly.

Be carefull though, you'd think the really intense heavy lifting is the dangerouse stuff but nah I already pulled a muscle doing this. Man is it effective though

  • @KaeruthePaladin glad to be of any help my brother! let me know if you have any requests on workouts and such. God bless

  • @psykojojo hey I was just wondering how this actually increases your hand speed and power? I understand it builds muscle but doesnt that slow you down or is it like explosive strength? I also understand it makes your hands feel lighter but isnt that only temporary, Im just looking for an answer, thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • This is a great way to break your skull

  • @Norie92 lol....ok. thanks for watching

  • @Norie92 lol read this in a plyometrics book. with great risk is great reward. "who dares, wins"

  • Just recovered from my injury (hopefully it doesnt come back). I just did this. 1 minute per exercise and 15 seconds rest in between. Im sweating all over from a 12 minute exercise (WOW) but I feel SO GOOD. I have to admit I had to drop the weights a couple of times. Doing explosive motions with a 5 lbs weight is A LOT HARDER than I thought. My goal is to submit a video doing this by next year. Wish me luck!

  • Good stuff, Thank you jojo.

  • i train box for bout 1 year.. how many rounds of this exercise, should i do?

  • @whitelaw28 depends on your weight and how comfertable you are with it, i wouldn't push it if it's painful or anything like that.. I would do 2, 2 minute rounds first

  • Thanks man

  • I learned and taught myself all these when I was 13-14...WORKS...wasn't the strongest,..biggest....baddest...but nobody could touch my hand speed and power...I'd throw 20 off before you would get 1 lol...love the vid..

  • O my god r u an instructor don't expect your students to be in the fight scene for long with there injuries

  • @Thebanditbailey been doing this workout for 2 years and never had any injuries, but thank you

  • Hey I just started boxing about a week ago. I kinda sprained or hurt my right hand about two days ago so im trying to find a way to workout without damaging my hand even more. Would you recommend me to do this? My hand is not swollen but it hurts a little bit. I dont want it to get worse but I dont want to stop working out at all.

  • @KeNuBort sounds like a sprain or muscle tear, no i wouldn't do this. Whenever i get injured (i just tweaked my knee alittle recently) i don't stop training, i just tailor my training and sharpen other aspects. So your hand is hurt, work on footwork, head movement, cardio, take this opportunity to level up your other skills (nerd gaming referrence)

  • if you can hear in the background, Tears don't fall by Bullet for my Valentine if you didnt noticed. hahaha

  • did you see how some body fuck on the back of ring

  • how much is 5 lb in kg?

  • @giantchicken891 2.4 i believe? not pos on that though

  • @psykojojo cheers. i like doing that with weights, makes your arms feel so much lighter afterwards

  • @psykojojo absolutely brother, anytime. Yea, i have the guys shadow box as the LAST break and by then your arms feel like feathers. If you can keep your hands up the entire time with these then you can do it when your gassed and broken in a fight. I tell my guys everyday "PUSH, if you quit in here you'll quit in the cage"

  • Can you put out a video of you actually doing this type of work out? It would be more helpful to see you do it.

  • @PsychTech interesting, sure let me see if i can do that

  • bullet for my Valentine in the background

  • Hey - got a question :) I used to box quite a bit, not really anymore but I run and do weights. After a bit of doing these kind of exercises with 10 lbs weights , my shoulders r quite sore and cracking a lot - it's a bit worrisome :( I guess too much weight- I was doing 50-100 punches daily -

  • @MissNikkiToronto yeah this is an endurance workout, 10blbs is far too much weight and you'll hurt your shoulders for sure. the workout is designed to be kept at a frinetic pace, you should be SNAPPING punches out quickly

  • @psykojojo woooweee i just took my second attempt at this workout and made it through about 10 minutes with a 2 pound weights, now my shoulders are pooped but the rest of me is way jacked up, take a look if yuh want im gonna post my attempt in a minute

  • i hear tears dont fall in the background..

  • @mrcharizard10 yes you do

  • @mrcharizard10 I hate your life for stealing my comment, I just saw the video and im like what is that i hear in the backrounddd

  • Hey guys I'm wondering Is it a good idea to use 10 pounds or should I start with a lower weight.

  • @darkmasterX26 i would start on the lower end, ofcourse depending on your weight, i woudln't go much higher than 6 or 7...really dude, if your able to do it with 10 lbs then your probably not doing it right. plus going to heavy with this workout can injure you

  • 12 people where to lazy to do this

  • Comment removed

  • this look great but wouldnt those be really bad on the elbows?

  • @gatoralley01 not unless its too heavy

  • Those exercises are bad ass.

  • if you do this every day you can KO in 1 punch promise

  • sweet finally found a vid that helps me improve with what i already do. Doing these each for a minute, tabata style will be grueling!

  • If the dumbell slips and hits my face ... LOL

  • @FormatxCwalk lol...i've seen it happen before, on the pummles

  • Hell yeah atreyu!!!!!

  • nice vid m8 good info cheers

  • the 2nd last one is a good way to strain your pectoral muscle :P

  • looks good. You guys ever do and drop training for hand speed?

  • I do it with 20lbs

  • @Egomaniacs239 then you aren't doing it right

  • @psykojojo yea i shadow box with a standard 20lbs wrist/ ankle weights. They slide if you dont tighten them right but they work very well if you do, you can also hit the bag with them if you can tolerate it.

  • @Egomaniacs239 lets see it

  • @sclaysdharma watch?v=RKf_GsNd5yE here is an example but i do it with 10 or 20lbs on each hand idk how much it says but it feels like twenty when i started.

  • @Egomaniacs239 so you have no video of this posted? All I see you have posted is some video gamer stuff. I think the point is to train speed, so the more weight, the slower you get.

  • @sclaysdharma Your an Idiot

  • @Egomaniacs239 your a fat little 10 year old video game junkie and your mommy should monitor what you do on the internet more closely

  • @sclaysdharma ahahahahaha

  • @Egomaniacs239 dumbbass. who does 20lbs

  • @thatsnotchocolat Fuck You

  • @Egomaniacs239 LOL Boasting FAIL! The reason why your using light weight is to increase speed AND power not just power.

  • @wiellin270 how long did it take you to figure that out idiot, go boast about sucking dick.

  • @Egomaniacs239 Aaahhhhh!!!... Someone's got a frownie face...

  • @Egomaniacs239 do it with 20 lbs for individual punches. if you do it with combos your muscle memory will go down and you will become slower. for speed and power add enough weight to give endurance training while still being able to do the exercise at a fast pace. for just power go ahead with the 20 lbs. just don't just stick with the 20 lb. you can probably gain the same amount of power with 5 lbs anyway. also weights only give a part of the results you get from full training.

  • @brandeezy108 you are wrong

  • @Egomaniacs239 hey, what ever works for you. but i'm not wrong. are you saying you will become a great boxer by just weight lifting? you can do full combinations with 20lbs if you want, but you will be slow as fuck and you will hit weaker than you did before. you'll lose a lot of flexibility that way.

  • @Egomaniacs239 bullshit lol

  • @MrGhosteyes your youtube page is bullshit

  • @Egomaniacs239 If you say so man..if you say so..

  • did anyone notive the two guys having sex at the back?? lol jk

  • what is the exercise call @ 1:19? when your throwing a series of uppercuts?

  • @hailmary5150 Uppercuts with dumbbell's you moron

  • Nice is it bad to start late for boxing? Or can anyone Start it up for personnal goals what would be some good workouts besides abs roping and this thanks

  • Geez. nice body!!

  • Bullet for my valentine stole this vid. I didn't even realize that there was anything else there.

  • sounds like an excellent workout but what is the actual routine for the workout?

  • @MrNiallMc each exercise is 20seconds, we do 2 minute rounds (with 6 - 20second excercises) and then something for a30 seconds or a minute until the next 2 minutes. Basically we just rotate the different ones, we don't have a specific rotation.

  • 15 lb weights are the smallest i have right now, is speed an important factor in this workout in order to increase punch speed?

  • @r0b0tj0n3s speed isn't really, i try to snap them out as fast as possible without sacrificing form, but it's more about keeping porper form and pushing really hard, it hurts at first but becomes easier after the first couple of days
