I will admit. I started watching the original because of the skinhead culture to which i was also a part of in the 80's, but but by the end of the movie, i had developed an appeal to the characters and the skinhead portion of it was secondary... 83, 86 and 88 are all fucking brilliant..The Storyline is incredibly addicting

This show is ok but its kind of an unecessary continuation of the movie. The movie was about skinhead culture and to then shift it to 86 once the most of the characters had stopped being skinheads kind of removes the essence of what the original film is about and much the same thing happened with Life on Mars, once the 70s cops were placed in 1980 in Ashes to Ashes they became irrelevant really becuase what made the show in the first place was the time period they were of, and so it is here

@bluejeckett Totally disagree, This is England was about exactly what the title says, the skinhead theme was secondary if anything to the relationships of the characters and the political backdrop of Britain during the Falklands.

@cryjesuscry The sequels were just as much part of the same theme, the backdrops deal heavily in the football culture in Britain(and the 86 FIFA cup which was largely related to the Falklands), British politics, subcultures, etc. Many of the characters continue being skinheads, and a large part of the story is about them making transitions from that life to adults and the difficulties they have in doing so(especially Woody). I seriously think you are missing the entire point of the movie/show

Sounds to me like you still don't have any clue what the director is going for with these.
