I was a teenager in the 70's. I am now a high school teacher. I consider these two experiences very rich. I have lived both sides. Yes, I've had teachers who were there just for the paycheck. These days, it's not much of one, so you've got to care about youth. They have a tough enough time. Students come to me to talk. Sometimes they don't feel like 'doing school' because of other crud in their lives. I'm just one who lets them know I really care. It's worth it.
