What a beautiful song and wonderfully sung by the great Lady Day! I also love the rendition that she does on one of her last albums "Lady In Satin" (this album is a MASTERPIECE!) which has such a gorgeous musical arrangement from Ray Ellis. I wish she sung more songs with strings and an orchestra.

After her terrible childhood, I think dignity became extremely important to her. She certainly dressed the part; it's hard to find any photo of her where she isn't outfitted with absolute elegance.

And Billie Holiday packed on the same weight in the same places. She was ill when she looked like this. Nobody liked to see it. She wasn't skinny because she was dieting and playing a lot of tennis.

Diana Ross already did a movie on the Billie Holiday story. It's called ,"Lady Sings The Blues." No other actress could have played that part better than Diana. I like Beyonce but she would not have done this part justice. You should rent it.
