A good idea for portable grass fed beef which I've been doing since 2003 is Pemmican bars from uswellnessmeats. It takes time to get used to the texture and taste, but they are truly the natural protein/energy bar.
@CathyHenrySEOCompany@ZorkFanDM From what I understand, vitA is twinned with vitD in much the same way that Potassium and Sodium are twinned. If you screw up the ratios, then you're going to get overdose symptoms but as long as you keep your vitD up (or conversely your vitA for vitD supplementation), you have to REALLY try to overdose. Chris Kresser talks about this some. (Tangential, people eating healthy can and do unbalance their K/Na balance by getting sodium deficient.)
Been on paleo for 2 months now. Best thing I've ever done. Feel amazing and I've ditched 20lbs without any additional exercise or ever feeling hungry. I have always thought diets were absolute BS. This actually works - and it's something I can see doing forever. It's less of a diet than it is a lifestyle change. Try it for 30 days. You won't regret it.
I have a question about vitamin overload. I have only been on the paleo diet for a week but i am seeing amazing results. But I have a question about taking in too much of certain vitamins. The only supplement I take is Vit D. I am tracking my intake on PaleoTrack and I notice that I am getting 2000%+ of VitK and1000%+ of VitA. I feel itchy at night. Is it because of Vitamin overdose or is it still toxins coming out of my body? CAN you overdose on vitamins from diet alone without supplements?
@CathyHenrySEOCompany I remember I had the same thing. If you are still losing weight, it might be toxins releasing from fat tissue. I did 5000 IU D3 at the time, and I'm still alive. I was overweight male though. Btw itching went away quite shortly.
@CathyHenrySEOCompany You very much so can overdose on Vit A, though it takes a lot to do so. This was actually the cause of death for an arctic explorer who was forced to kill and eat his sled dogs to survive. He overdosed on vit A from eating too much liver. This is also why some babies get mild jaundice when they eat too many foods like carrots.
Probably the best diet and health lesson of my life so far! lol
I am definitely going to buy a copy of Robb's book. Even though I am a bit of a wannabe vegan/veggie for ethical reasons (low meat consumption), I very much believe in the value of analysing our evolution to get inspiration and insight on healthcare, and believe ethics to be a whole different thing to optimal diet.
Anyway, top stuff and I'm definitely going to move down a more paleo dietary route :)
34:40 The whole photo-synthesis thing is true there's a guy in india who hasn't eaten anything since his teens. He is now 83 and looks 40. Scientist thought it was bullshit and monitored him for a month w/ out food and he's healthy as fuck.
@cellardoor199991 Proof? Why hasn't this guy made the headlines around the world? What testing was done to verify these claims? The closest humans come to photosynthesis is when they manufacture vitamin D3 when exposed to sunlight. Furthermore, photosynthesis in plants does not occur in a magical nutrient-free vacuum. Plants still need roots to leech nutrients (most importantly water) from the soil. Those nutrients come from other dead plant and animal matter.
I can't believe its been a month before this came across my desk. Love the Podcast, Love the book, now love the Videos. Hope you and Nikki are well and all the best for you Robb. You do so much for people like me and you deserve all the good the world has to offer.
I did Paleo for 12 years, mostly meat but fruit juices and veggies with lots of nuts. No milk, very little beans. I had about the most stable personality and energy levels one could have untill I started eating crap foods. Had type II diabetes untill I ate correctly again. The Paleo diet is an excellent diet and this Wolf guy seems to be smart and informed in training and dieting. I think my lean meets will be wild venison and/or grass fed pasture fed beef.
Robb Wolf is by far the most accurate and accessible voice in the world of nutrition and fitness. ABC World News Tonight usually gives out its Person of the Year award, based on contributions to humanity. Robb's generosity in dispensing his considerably broad knowledge would make him an excellent candidate for that award.
@laiderian Do not knock it until you try it. Being a health care professional most of the stuff out there is is riddled with controversy. I been on a similar diet for only 1 month. Lost almost 25 pounds and never felt better. My wife lost 20 pounds and feels great too!
his school comment is golden!

Is this almost like a vegan diet without the dairy or soy?
tewhjsa 1 week ago
@tewhjsa Not exactly. It's like vegan but without grains, legumes (soy), and dairy. It also includes meat and fish.

@Lakkhesis1976 Actually I've recently been moving in a more Markus Rothkranz direction with hints of 30 Bananas a Day :)
I'll see how that works out! Robb is still awesome though and I love his podcast :)

@hoppimike There's no reason why you can't follow paleo principles and stay low-meat, while sourcing ethically produced animal products.
