There's one major difference between this version of SMB1 and the original: When you break a brick, you don't bounce off, you keep drifting up a bit... It's really a pretty major error IMO.
who plays as toad in smb2? I thought everyone, including myself, played as the Princess when starting a new game. cool review and look back at some of the best games in video game history
its weired me and my brothers never played lost levels. when ever we did we would maybe play 2 levels or so then stop. same with my friends or people i new with it know one ever really played to finish it, kinda weired. i have a feeling not many people with allstars ever really played lost levels ether.
What are you talking about? Luigi's physics are still the same in All-Stars as they were in the original. He still jumps higher and accelerates slower.
Mario's physics are also the same, which is to say that they are the same as Super Mario Bros. 1's but you bounce off of enemies higher.
In fact, these games on this collection use nearly identical code to the NES versions when it comes to their respective gameplay engines.
I like your videos, so I'm not here to flame you.
Naw, it's alright. I was gonna mention about how you described Deluxe's physics, but I didn't want to come off too harshly.
One real difference here that you could have mentioned though, is that to access worlds A-D requires beating the game only once on All-Stars, whereas on the original you had to beat the game several times before you could access them.
I can't recall how many it was though...
Still, otherwise this is another good video, and I look forward to your upcoming videos!
They are hard to find if you live outside of Japan. I'd like to have a few in stock when my store opens, but my current supplier for imports is a bit short on them as well.
Yes. I registered Classic Games Revisited as a company here in the US last week. I'm opening a video game store online. As you can imagine, we will sell mostly retro games and hardware.
@dommiesan coolz, if you plan to ship to the UK i'll be intrested to have a gander at ya shop, and might even get a couple o' me friends to have a look
I found that the Super Mario All-stars version was much more true to the original SMB3 than the GBA version. There were very few gameplay differences from All-Stars to SMB3.
I seriously loved this game on the SNES! I am surprised to see how over looked it seems to be. I would have thought a lot of retro gamers would have loved to played these retooled versions of their favorite Mario games
You can get the lost levels on the wii virtual consle. You did not point that out

Just so you know, Super mario bros: the lost levels, was sort of like a Japanese only super mario 1.5 Super Mario 2 was STILL Super Mario 2 in japan.
MARIOFANMAN 1 year ago
@MARIOFANMAN no it wasn't super mario 2 in japan is super mario USA.
AntichristDemoncore 1 year ago
@MARIOFANMAN Incorrect. Our SMB2 was released in Japan not as SMB2, but as Super Mario USA.

could you go more in depth on the changes in Super Mario Bros. 2 JPN? Also, you could have mentioned that it's also available on Virtual Console ;)
Never the less, once again, great review.

Sorry, I wanted to but there were time restraints so I edited it out. Same with the VC. But I did mention that in my review of SMB2JPN. :)
