  • Police

    Fire department

    Military

    Just to name a few.

Hmm... Maybe we should privatize the police and fire department.

You get robbed, you call the police and you pay for their services.

Or the fire department, 911, what is your emergency?

My house is on fire, hurry.

Will that be cash or credit card?

    IDIOTS!

  • "What government agency has done such a great job?"

Using Dan Burton's logic, these government institutions need to be privatized:

Army, Air Force, Navy, CIA, FBI, NSA, FDA, Patent Office, Border Patrol, USPS. And let's not forget Congress itself, the worst job of all.

What a dimwit, to say such a thing.

  • Oh ya......Big Corporations will look after us????? roglmao............

they'd have working as slaves if they could....give your heads a shake....big business looking for savings, and helping out its employees....and big fat gov't pigs that can fly too!!!!! Go Alan Go!!!!!

  • Daniel Webster opposes giving women choices on own health by opposing abortion under any condition incest, rape and yes republicans do not give a damn about american people and want you to die quickly ...i work in the medical field and i support alan grayson

  • I actually do like the Republican plan but why didnt they do anything about it when they had control? Oh yeah they were too busy waging their ridiculous wars. Politicians = scumbags who simply dont give a damn about the American people.

  • The end of life counseling is involving your pastor? What if you don't have a pastor and don't go to church? Do you rent one? This guy is a corporate yielding fraud. You never had a plan and never cared to make insurance rates affordable for anybody. You only claimed to have a plan so that you don't look bad in front of the American people since the Democrats DID have a plan. The only plan you had was to do the same exact thing George Bush did for last 8 years. Typical Republican party.

  • @LibertyInProgress health insurance rates*

  • Truth does hurt Burton...Thankfully we have people like Grayson and Weiner to call these corporatists out... These GOPer can look people in the eye while the system bankrupts people and people do not get the care they deserve as Americans all because they can't afford insurance or the insurance the do have is pathetic. How about it Burton? Put forth a bill that abolishes medicare if you have the courage of your convictions. Of course you won't you corp lapdog.

  • Hey Burton, STFU. You are nothing but a CEO Lap Dog.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Burton, We are already paying for the stupid war that your party decided to ignite! The Iraq war alone has already cost tax payers nearly 1 Trillion Dollars? 1 Trillion Dollars spent on what Burton? By the way I saw your health care plan, Yep I saw the entire printing which was entirely printed on an 8 by 11 inch piece of paper!

  • The Republican Health Care Plan = Don't Get Sick. If you do Get Sick DIE QUICKLY!

  • One part of the problem with the CBO figures is that the 10 years includes more years of "income" than "expenses." The extra taxes and fees start immediately, but the costs - "benefits" - don't begin until 4 years or more down the road.

  • Hey Dan, your schtick is boring! shut up and sit the hell down. Alan Grayson was funny as hell!!!!

  • callouschristion-

Burton just laid it all out for you to understand. Listen to him. Grayson is a moron. Republicans are good for USA. Smaller government and Lower taxes=better economy..

    S

  • i can tell your a conservative as i am

but the truth is that its Progressive-ism that is the problem.

    its hijacked both parties

right now its mostly with the Democrats

we need more libertarian leaders like Ron Paul who is everything you just listed. Also the founder who started the Tea Party movement in 2007 protesting the out of control spending of Bush administration

    go to ontheissues(dot)com

its a good website for finding where politicians stand on a grid chart

  • @swedeeepie HAHHAHAAHAHAAHAAAAAHAHHAHHHAAAHHAAHAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHHAAAAAHAHHHAHAHHAHAHHHAHHHAHHHAHHHHAHHHAHAHHHAHAHHAHHAHHHAHHAHHAAAAAHHHAHHAHAHHHHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHHHAHHHAHHHAHHHAHAAAAAAHHHAHHAHAHHAHHHHAHHAAHAAAAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH(takes a deep breath)HAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAAAHHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAAHHAHHAHHAHAAHAHHAHHAHAAAHAHAAHAAAAAAA~!!!

  • @swedeeepie By the way, I was laughing at you, and not with you. Thought you might be confused since you are on many other things it seems.

  • No one who knows facts or are is morally upright would support this republican. Republicans are bad for America, Bad for the World...JUST BAD! The supporters who should know better are the worst.

  • Rep. Dan Burton you guys have no plans, you've have never presented your plans on CSPAN... You're the party of "Die Quickly!" The GOP stands for Got O Plans...

  • right on Burton....

    USPS

    Amtrak

    Social Security

    Medicaid

    Medicare

All of which would be bankrupt if they were private entities... But instead they receive increasing funding year after year... Let's go ahead and socialize all medical care. I am sure it won't cost us a thing.

  • 'making fun of a very important issue...by coming up with alot of silly talk'

Yeah Burton, just like 'death panels', 'pulling the plug on grandma' and all this talk of 'socialism' etc

and why don't we have the trillion dollars burton? WARS

  • I love how they talk about the health care bill in "trillions" (over 10 years).

The wars now cost about the same.

Cut the war, and we have the money for healthcare reform.

  • @aznjokeryou But that logic makes too much sense to get into these old fucks brains. War is peace, like in 1984.

  • Give people the choice burton!! Its not a government takeover its an option

  • Amen, Let Burton give up his plan.

  • there is no public option

    where have you been?

it forces you to buy private insurance

    that's not an option

  • @GovernmentSham912 yeah i know now there isn't a public option in the bill, obama has showed himslef to be just as much a sell-out as the republicans and blue dog democrats

but i was making my point about the option because at the time of this speech, the public option was very much on the table - at least in the house anyway, the senators are too bought by health insurers sadly

  • the promise of a public option was just for show

i'd be for a public option if this bill was less expensive. especially when we're in a crisis

  • @GovernmentSham912 yeah it was just for show. Obama's just a populist centrist who's too scared to do anything significant - unfortunately he's alienating conservatives and liberals alike, which gives the republicans a chance in 2012 as long as they run someone half-decent (ie not Palin or Steele). I'd like to see Paul or maybe Gingrich.

The CBO said the public option would lower the deficit and save 1.4 trillion dollars over the next ten years btw

  • We would have the money if we stopped warmongering and trying to control the planet

  • good job grayson it's about time the political correctness was dropped and truth told...

Burton is a lying moron! go collect your payoff from the insurance company a-hole!

  • croooooooooked gov...

  • Burton and the idiot from TN is "shocked" by Grayson's comments? Maybe he hasn't listened to the Republicans on the house of the floor and Senate. They were so honest and good by saying Obama is in league with terrorists, a socialist... all complete lies. We do not have any money because Republicans borrrowed and spent, deregulated this country to almost the point of ruin. This idiot thinks torte refrom and the race to the bottom known as cross state insurance acquiring is the cure. Its not.

  • You forgot about the Clinton Administration who took money from social security and taxed and spend with Reagan and the two Bushes

  • Not in the slightest... Clinton was another corporatist. Along the the Republican Congress who at their suppsed heart want to do away with SS, medicare and medicade anyway

  • The government is ran by corporations. We need to lessen the power the power they have over the government. A great example is how the federal government does what the banks what it to do.

  • I agree... there are so few public servants that actually have the people's interest in mind. That is why real campiagn finance reform is in order. Forbid any person or group donating more that $50 to any campaign or party. We representation back.

  • Real compaign finance reform will happen sadly because the business lobby easily would block it or fill it with loopholes so that nothing.

thisis proven by the financial reform which probably has loopholes put in by the financials so they can slip through the regulations.

  • Sad but true... That is the big reason why I vote 3rd party in most elections. Both parties are rotten and have screwed this country over for their own ends.

  • @DWDave67 NO it's not true. the republicans have a better healthcare bill than the democrat bill and the R bill is only 200 pages. and the D's REJECTED IT.

so basically being that your an independent do you think that your above it all or holyier than thou ?

the conservative party IS ON THE RISE !!!!

  • Conservatives gave us voo-doo economics, the Iraq war, the Un-American Patriot Act, The worst economy we have had since the Great Depression.. Torte Reform and crossing state lines is nowhere near the cure for waht ails this system and you forget for 6 long years we had Bush and the Rep congress... what did they do? Unless you count 800 Billion to the insurance and drug industries as HC reform, they did nothing.

  • Dont bring logic into this!

  • @GovernmentSham912. As I'm not an american citizen I'm not eligible to vote, but were I that I would have voted Obama, if for nothing else just to vote against mr "country first" who had the super irresponsible stupidass chutzpa to let an airhead like Palin to be one heartbeat away to be the most powerful person in the world. That was a dangerous act if I ever saw one. But Obama has not been even close to the hope of change many expected and hoped for, I'll give you that.

  • @DWDave67 listen up, obama is a socialist, and a COMMUNIST ! yes, and so are many of his czars !

wanting to pass a bill the majority of america does not want ! and ramming it thru, that is communist.

i've heard your "deregulated this country to almost the point of ruin" crap before and it is not true !

what really caused the housing bust was the D's with the community reinvestment act under carter in 1977 that forced the freddie and fannie to give loans to people who cant pay back !

  • I'd argue your points but you lost when you accuse Obama of being a socialist and a communist. You clearly fo not know the definition of either. Most Americans was a single payer option. Sorry... you obviously have not been sick in this system or have a family. You know nothing about how bad the HC system is for most people. Continue to stick your head in the sand and deny the past 30 years of conservative dominated economics and policy.

  • As opposed to the patriotact, gitmo, iraq war and other stuff that was soooo popular with the american people? With your standards, W Bush must have bee the biggest commie ever?. Oh, and both parties are responsible for the mess of now, it's just a stupid debate to try to throw blame around when there really is no way of actually descide who's more responible, but I'm sure you are going to try anyway...

  • All corporatists need to go away...Ronnie Reagan ushered them in and in the time, the avg person wages went down adjusted for inflation while the wealthy's wages skyrocketed. We now have record debt thanks to their philosophy. Burton is a liar as all Republicans and corporatist Democrats are. They needed to be voted out and public servants that actually care about the country not like this scumbag. I bet he's never had to deal with this system as a middle class person.

  • u go Grayson tell these corrupt republicans the truth they hate people to hear

  • I don't trust Republican's to really even care. Now they want to cut the minimum wage to help pay for this huge debt. They always want to give the most wealthy a break. I can't trust someone who thinks like that to honestly care. There are 2 homeless people per day dying because of the cold. I bet they would say "Die Quickly". Something is seriously wrong with man kind today. It's all about money. Shame on us America.

  • Grayson says what he said was a joke or mockery that the republicans have no plan

like saying the bill was blank

that he actually read die quickly

    that was pretty low

  • What kind of plan is there for the homeless? o;

  • Health Insurance companies are already doing what they do best - make money, not healthcare. And their plan is for us to die slowly (not quickly) so they can get more $ out of us.

My healthcare plan is for everyone to do their best to exercise, eat right, and stay positive. No tax necessary.

  • in doing what they are do best, the health care companies are COMPETING with eachother for your money (why capitalism works) This is a good thing not a bad one. in a government monopoly there is no incentive for improvement, the government knows it has your money and theres nothing you can do about it (why Communism fails) granted with the government in charge you pay more while getting less.. but hey you cant have everything.. or anything.. if Obama gets his way

  • Burton: It's so horrible that Grayson is making light of the issue? Get your hands out of my pocket and start paying YOUR taxes.

  • I'm just a bit flabbergasted by the debate in the US. You are the richest country ever, you have the best top notch healthcare in the world, you have the best scientists and the most resources to come up with how to get your countrymen/women healthier. Yet, Costa Rica has a better healthcaresystem and longer life-expectancy than you lot. How is that possible? How can anyone in anyway defend your system? It is stupid to profit on sick people!!!

  • @Skinnygoatee i can answer why costa rica has a better life expectancy than we have and the answer is because in america, alot of people dont eat right and people over eat and people dont exercise and i think thats the majority of america, but on the other hand, americans were healthier in the 70's vs. now and i can answer that too. it's because we have alot of really really good food and we compete thru capitalism which is the best food and it survives in stores.

  • @Skinnygoatee the private insurers in america do not profit on sick people, the profit on people who are not sick, if the are not sick, their insurance doesnt spend alot of money.

the private insurers do not make alot of money.

  • @liberals.... Ok, I kinda misspoke. Insurers of course want well-feeling people to pay them a lot of money, but still it is profit-driven and thus not likely to pay up when they don't need to. But the hospitals want sick people don't they? It's still sick to in any way make profit on ill. And the insurance-industry is arguably the most reliably profitable industry in the US is'nt it? Stock in a 52 year high just before christmas?

  • it's very scary, and your comment isnt spam..

  • ok i cant help but laugh at part about heath care bill that the house passed costing between 1 and 3 trillion dollars

umm last time i checked the congressional budget office (which both parties agree in non-partisan) said it would save money

by the way who " elects not to have insurance"

  • check again, the CBO has never said that. They've actually disputed the presidents numbers(as being too low) also anyone who elects to buy a brand new car they cant afford leaving them with no money for insurance is electing not to have insurance. It is not the governments responsibility to give handouts to people living outside their means.

  • Government agency that does such a good job: Fire department.

  • and the military

  • "What government agency is run so well that you want them to run your health care?"

Uh. I think that he just nailed himself with this comment.

"I can't believe you ass-hats pay me! And you want us to give you health care!? Let's just bomb someone of a different color!?"

  • nypd and fdny are 2 government run groups that did quite well on 9/11 thanks for disrepecting them Mr Burton

  • Comment removed

  • finally someone who speaks some sense

  • Lowering taxes, which Bush did to EVERYONE (including you, not just those "evil" rich) makes prices go DOWN not "skyrocket". That's just basic economics. When you tax a company they raise prices to keep profit margins.(You're in luck Obama just raised everyones taxes)

Democrats are "Bought and paid for" by trial lawyers, which is why as long as they're in power you wont see ANY tort reform, which actually WOULD drive costs down.

  • It's not an insult if it's true.

  • The only ones who want anyone to die are Democrats. I don't know why you can't see that. Alan Grayson is a joke and next year we're going to send this coward running out of the 8th with his tail between his legs. Never heard of Dan Burton but at least hes stating facts instead of flinging wild accusations and fearmongering like Grayson.

  • Really? Insurance companies let people die daily by default: the unlucky who cannot get coverage for lack of money, pre-existing conditions are dying ever day.

Grayson is exactly right: The Republicans have no public health care plan, they only care about the wealthy, the rest of us can die as far as THEY care if the insurance co. makes money.

As far as getting rid of Grayson, that's your businessl. Best of luck getting back all of the Republican seats lost in the last election.

    a

  • noone in this country is denied lifesaving treatment. canada cant say that. cuba definately cant,

its funny the Republicans actually are working on a plan, not that youd notice.. Peloci in the house and Reid in the senate are doing their damndest to not allow Republican legislation to see the light of day. You wont read about that on the looney leftwing blogs or see it on msnbc.

Im not a Republican, but do support them when they do the right thing and oppose Obama.

  • While there are a few republican bills that arent even that much reform, many of them oppose ANY reform. Im not really a fan of the dems but the GOP is almost completely bought off by the insurance co's.

  • I am so sick of that Liberal talking point. BOTH parties are paid off by insurance companies, theyres more than enough data to prove it, furthermore the Dems are very much paid off by the trial lawyers, which is why you wont be seeing any tort reform any time Democrats are in charge.

  • Yes, but less so than the GOP. What do trial lawyers have anything to do with this? Your saying that lawyers are scheming to destroy tort reform because it might give them less business? What evidence is there for this? and how is tort reform going to improve healthcare?

  • Well theres plenty of evidence that the insurance companies have paid both parties off so your argument is invalid.

Anyways, if a guy sues a doctor for no reason, the doctor has to pay millions to defend himself.. even if he's innocent. I know being a lib you probably think doctors are rich and evil, but most dont have millions lying around for frivolous malpractice suits, guess who pays for it? You do. If the loser paid this would happen a lot less often and costs wouldnt have to be so high.

  • Yes, I attack the GOP therefore I must be a flaming lib/communist/socialist/hippie who only watches MSNBC. So your saying that the reason the reason healthcare is so expensive is basically a prevenitive measure against frivolous lawsuits? Or maybe just the skills/ops and technology are expensive. I agree there should be tort reform but thats definately not going to reduce the price that much. At the very LEAST they should let people buy accross state lines, just some reform and competition.

  • I agree with you about buying across state lines, that would offer much more "competition and choice" than any government option ever could.

  • In a statement, AARP CEO Barry Rand said, "We started this debate more than two years ago with the twin goals of making coverage affordable to our younger members and protecting Medicare for seniors.'

"We can say with confidence that [the House bill] meets those goals with improved benefits for people in Medicare and needed health insurance market reforms to help ensure every American can purchase affordable health coverage"

  • When I didn't pay my taxes the IRS did a pretty good job of fining me.

  • Are you proud of the fact that the only thing our government does efficiently is take money from you? (By the way, even this isnt true, every year the Irs spends billions of dollars to collect your tax dollars) The fair tax would be much more efficient, and yet Democrats almost universally oppose it, not because it would collect less money, but because it would give them less power, and power is something that, once given to the federal government is very difficult to get them to give up.

  • if dan burton thinks that the government cant run things effictively, then why dosnt he get the hell out of government and let the people who actually give a damn do it.

  • Our government was designed from the ground up to be inefficient. in some ways this is a good thing, the three branches of government in theory protect us from tyranny. It is not supposed to be easy for the government to give themselves more power, because once they do who's to say when they stop? But I guess you're smarter than our founding fathers.

  • He's campaigning for "not me" and as a Floridian I will oblige

  • Speaking of silly talk....

  • Speaking of silly talk your a fuckin idiot bitch god damn i dont know how you can be so damn stupid kid cuz if you think the goverment is going to make health care better you need to be put to sleep just think of fema running the hospitals they cant even pass out water bottles right damn your dumb

  • So you must agree with Rep Burton that you don't want the governement between you and your doctor. I guess you prefer a giant, for-profit "health care" provider get in the way instead? Come up with your own arguement and don't just spout what silly-talking Burton mumbles on about. Save your venom to defend some other Republican who can put together 2 sentences. This guy can't.

  • You're darn right I want a for profit company in charge of running healthcare. The desire to gain profit guarantees that quality doesn't go down the crapper like it has in Cuba, England, Canada, and anywhere else socialized medicine is the norm. If socialism works SOO, well how come people flee here from Cuba in droves? Or Canadian legislators sneak across the border to America for healthcare when they don't want to wait months for it?

  • The problem is that a for-profit corporation isn't going to give you the best care, they'll just give you the cheapest. They direct you to only certain doctors in their network (the ones who aren't good enough to get their own through word of mouth). Then they'll deny you procedures that they deem unnecessary (as in, costs them too much).

Your health insurance company makes MORE money the worse your care gets. Then your doctor overcharges your insurance co and your premiums go up. Congrats!

  • you clearly have no idea how the free market works. or the government for that matter. when the government touches anything, it drives the cost up 10-fold. Costing more does not make something better. The reason private companies frequently cost less is because they compete with eachother (the competition and choice all the dems claim to want) so if one is brutal with its rates you can take your business elsewhere. If you want it to be even better let insurance companies sell across state lines.

  • Here is the actual way the free market works as regards "health care" insuranace, as it has happened to me twice now. A new insurer decides they can undercut my company's plan. So they come to the owner of my company, and say they can provide HC for $60 less per year per employee. Of course, the boss wants to save $20,000 so he switches our plan. Only problem is, the new plan has a $30 co-pay and doesn't cover as many procedures as the previous one.

And I have to switch doctors. Go Free Market!

  • i love how you completely ignore the fact that your beloved "government option" does the very same thing, only they charge MORE instead of less and FORCE you to buy it. Go Socialism!

  • Typical right-wing talking points. hur hur it doesnt work in Europe. Lies. And thats not what we are going for, its a public OPTION. And honestly you think a for-profit system is the best? Where they deny you coverage for pre-existing conditions, drop your coverage when you need it for any petty reason or refuse coverage on certian treatments all because its a financial liability and where millions of people are driven to financial ruin, many of them insured because of healthcare?!? Idiocy

  • what does he mean the 10 million people that really need it-not the illegal aliens-why would they not just as really need it? the idiodicy that spews forth from this ignorance is what should be illegal

  • pathetic burton.....you dont deserve your post. lol I love the hypocritical Indignation.....Hope the money was worth every intelligent person despising you.

lol and he totally doesnt get it...people WANT the government between them and their doctor. We WANT to make sure medical care doesnt cost a fortune.

  • Uuuhhh, so i guess Dan Burton's government supplied health coverage is just awful..

  • "Democratic death panels"? Anyone forget the c-span televised testimony of former HMO reps whose bonuses were based on how many claims they were able to turn down. This while knowing that the quality of life for a patient would be greatly decreased or their life shortened. The death panels exist now with the HMO's. Why is it that the HMO industry is exempt from the anti-trust law?

  • You just don't get it, do you, Rep. Burton -

or do you? How much money have you received for your campaign coffers from the health insurance monopoly, to get and keep your job as a rep. that affords you access to any and every option available to man for your own healthcare, and how many millions of us (voters and taxpayers) are dieing for lack of access?

You are the one who is frivolous, not Rep. Grayson.

  • end the endless war, which only fattens defense contractors pockets. End the federal reserve bank, which only fattens bankers pockets. Use that money to fund social programs. The end.

  • Rep. Burton lets not forget which party started "death panels, pulling the plug on grandma, and getting inbetween u and your doctor" so dont be so surprised when democrats use your own method against u...Canada has a better life expentancy then we do and they have government health care....and ur talkin about cost?? how much is Afgan and Iraq costing us every month and who is going to pay that back?? exactly sir our kids and grand kids...so dont even talk about costs when u dont wanna adress war

  • Congressman Burton, it's $1-3 trillion over ten years, versus about $2 trillion a year under our current health care system. That sounds ok to you? You want to cry foul about Congressman Grayson's hyperbole, yet you pull out the "death panel" lie directly after, not even noting that the end of life counselling was a REPUBLICAN amendment! You're a joke, and I'm looking forward to your defeat when your seat comes up for a vote.

  • Fake outrage Fail

    2000-2006 Fail

Health Care Reform I could say Fail if you had ever tried.

    Republican Party Epic Fail

  • Anadecim, the firefighters had $1 mill taken from them and given to ACORN!

  • I tend to agree with "anadecim". If we hadn't spent the money on the so called WMD's we would have this healthcare for everyone, and I suspect it would be at a higher rate of quality than what's offered by the private HC community now.

  • exactly, Bush and Obam have spent a ton of money and i dont beleive we can afford reform

  • we can't afford not too reform. the money that's out there will be the same money but just backed by the government and not the FED, who is not a representative of "we the people".

  • Oh yeah.. a healthcare system set up as a source of revenue is going to be much more ethical than healthcare provided for the greater good. Lets face it, as long as humans have their hands in something there will be corruption. But there is a big difference between corruption and exploitation - I'll take corruption anyday!

  • So, Rep. Burton, let's see if we've got this straight. You, as a member of the government, stand up, on the House Floor and challenge us to "name a government agency that does such a great job". Republicans have spent a good portion of the last decade wrecking the government and now you want to point fingers?! Try looking in a mirror, buddy!

  • The government couldn't run social security without bankrupting it. They haven't been able to make the current Medicare sustain itself. Our government is not able to provide the same level of health care that Americans have today? What they are capable of doing is turning it into a bureaucratic nightmare.

  • Why don't we first get our corporations off welfare? Our nation is being looted by the elite ( look at the billions in bailouts alone). At the turn of the 20th century, an executive of a company made around 10-15 times the lowest paid worker of that company. Now that figure is more than 200x. The top 1% are screwing us, and meanwhile the rest of us quibble over crumbs.

  • WOW, you really sound like Glen Beck! Millions of seniors use Medicare without problems. How about police and firefighters and schools. Do you want to privatize those services? If the dude you probably vote for hadn't spend that much money in Iraq and tax cuts for the wealthy we could have Health care for every body for the next 20 years!

  • (continued from previous post) I am not against helping and caring for those who cannot provide for themself but I am against those who freeload off the system and the labor of others because they are too lazy to work.

  • ZendeghiBahal, the point I am making isn't whether or not we need healthcare reform. We do. Both dems and reps are in agreement on this. The bill in it's current bill erodes the Constitutional rights of the American people. There needs to be wording in the bill to stop the raping of our social programs by illegal aliens. There also needs to be a means for those who are perpetually unemployed to work for their coverage.

  • ZendeghiBahal, the bible says if a man doesn't work, he doesn't eat. I am not against reform but not at the expense of our freedoms. It is NOT FAIR to make the working class pay for all the lametards that are not willing to work or the ones who are here illegal as law breakers.

  • I would rather have the government inbetween my doctor and I than the insurance companies!!!!!! the government would provide care while the insurance companies would just try to deny care to save money. which one does everyone else want?!

  • Then you are obviously mentally incompetent to make decisions.

  • Burton- you an your co-conspirators are

    full of it.

  • the Republican agenda

    1) Get us into an unjustified invasion

and occupation of a foreign nation using lies to congress for war authorization.

    2) Give unbidded war contracts to corporations whose management is politically on your side so they take care of you later with the graft they loot the country of. 3) Refuse oversight and regulation of financial sector in the name of "free market economics" 4) Say we cant afford health care.

  • Right now, a corp bean counter is between me and my doctor. What about that Rep Burton???? You had money for the Iraq war, Medicare Reform, TARP but none for health care... I see...

  • SOCIALISM!!!! OBAMACARE!!!! DEATH PANELS!!!!

Burton is right... this is a serious issue, about time Republicans treat it as such. Mr Burton, where was your plan under Bush inc?

  • Republican PLAN - DIE QUICKLY and leave all your worldly goods to HUMANA, Blue Cross, PHARMA!

  • Dan Burton and the Repubs healthcare plan:

Let big insurance companies keep doing what they're doing and keep making profits while Americans die needlessly. Bravo.

  • I'm gonna go ahead and say..PUPPET!

  • It's scary to think that idiots like this have a say in what goes on in this country. I have no doubt that the AMA and other lobbying groups who have a keen interest in this piece of legislation bought this pig out ages ago along with his fellow republican cohorts.

You can tell when a politician is speaking from the heart and when he's merely a puppet. It's quite obvious which one this asshole is.

  • MEH.. Grayson's speech was more convincing.

  • Canada's health care its 100% better than the US. Say what you want about it. I'm Canadian and I love our health care.

  • Ok Mr. Dan Burton.. so WHAT IS YOUR PLAN? YOU DON'T HAVE ONE!

  • Grayson left some detail out of the Republican Health care plan Tom Coburn and Eric Cantor

    1. Pray you dont get sick

    2. Pray you get better when you do get sick

    3. Liquidate everything you own

    4. Go bankrupt

    5. Pray your neighbors will help

    6. If all else fails, Die quickly

  • tidus5ffx I love your comment about not associating the Chistian lifestyle and the liberal way of thinking. At least you are honest. your "Christian lifestyle" has nothing to do with liberal thought or Christ. It is much more parallel with those who put him on the cross.

  • How about you go to Somalia. Not a government in sight, and you can shoot at all the people you want.

  • We want a plan that doesnt get in the way of Insurance and their profits.... i mean doctors and their patients.... wooopsy. Medicare for All imo

  • Why hasnt this video been seen as much as the die quickly video by the mainstream media? Is it because the democrats want to keep saying the republicans dont have a plan.

  • " What goverment agency has done such a great job that we should trust them with our health care?" Well, where should I start? US dept of Labor, US Dept of Defense, US EPA, US FDA, US Dept. of Ag, US DOT, US Dept. of Energy, OSHA, US Fed Res., NASA, DARPA, FCC. US Postal Service. I could go on. Fact is Dan Burton is just protecting the megalithic Health Ins corporations that happen to reside in Indiana. No real mystery.

  • If we're lucky Grayson will follow the "Republican Plan"

  • His statement is rather ironic considering there are Canaidan nurses and clinic employees, on camera, who state in reply to queries about waiting time for health services, "Don't get sick."

Remind me again what sort of health care system Canada has? Oh, that's right. A socialist one.

  • Thank you, Dan Burton!

  • Just a reminder, curse words are not tolerated on this channel. Post your opinions, but please keep it clean so the community at large feels comfortable visiting this youtube page.

  • If this is what you think about Republicans, then you must logically conclude that according to your way of absurd thinking, Democrats are just a bunch of power obsessed socialists pretending to care about the people in order to force through their agenda. I have yet to see any rich Democrats giving up their wealth for redistribution to the poor. Neither have I seen government of the people, by the people, for the people in any communist country.

  • genericSN: If Medicare is bankrupt, is it the fault of poor management, skyrocketing health care costs, or underfunding? The anti-government policies of conservatives are self-fulfilling; starve the government of resources and it won't be able to do a good job. If it can't do a good job, then trash it. Then leave the populace to purchase services from the private sector, over whom there is less oversight, so that the money can go into the pockets of investors and top executives.

  • I was unaware healthcare is a RIGHT in this country? Well, you need food and water and shelter long before you need healthcare...so why not free food, water and housing? Here's why, because you are not entitled to the labor or property of someone else unless that someone else is compensated because we have a capitalist economy. Time to grow up libs!

  • congressman Burton is one the most despicable congressman that there is. He has the nerve to try and offer his hypocritical rebuttal, what a joke. where was he at when they were talking about death-panels? i tell you where he was at, right in the middle of the mud. And boy was he slinging it, and with great enthusiasm, as were the rest of them. one word for you congressman, "hypocrite"

  • Grayson was only doing what the repubs had no problem doing, which is doing a palin-esque strategy.

If "death panels" are ok for Palin to lie about, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

  • lol the dems have no plan

  • Who was that last man that spoke in the end?

  • Many are worried in FL. I don't agree 100% with Rep. Alan Grayson. It is everyone who do nothing , have self interest, wants to end reform at all costs, not Republicans. If it is that most Republicans in general are doing nothing and are just trying to end reform at all costs, then, the truth hurts. I don't want to believe that. Rep. Alan Grayson should apologize because he did the mistake of labeling all when he said Republicans. You have to be more clear when you say something like that.

  • Republicans and Democrats, their essential differences are about taxes , cut or increase ? I wonder what happens if you eliminate taxes altogether , what kind of party do you get?

  • VERY rarely do I post a comment on YouTube, because I use it more as a learning tool than a personal forum.

But there are two sides to this particular debate: one said A LOT in very few words, then other offered me a cunfusing ramble of many words.

Mr. Burton is an extremely intelligent man, and definitely shows his passion, but for this viewing, the debate team points go to the other side in a HUGE way.

  • A "learning tool"? DPinFL, please educate us on this notion that government bureaucrats will be more efficient and productive in the administration of health services than ANY ENTITY IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.

A 5th grader would understand that expanding Medicare to the 20 million or so uninsured IS MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THE GOVERNMENT TAKING OVER THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.

The American people are fed up with politicians like Alan Grayson who think the answer to every problem is MORE GOVERNMENT.

  • Hey, Dan. Here's the next vote I want you to cast. I want you to vote to take away your public health care. If we can't have it, there is no reason for you to have it.

No more public health care for elected officials in DC! The end! Buy your own in the so-called free market. A guy like you with pre-existing conditions wouldn't stand a chance.

  • Go to Europe or Canada if you want your universal health care.

  • If you cant afford health insurance what the fuck makes you think you can afford a ticket to europe dumb fuck.

  • I wish I could! In January, I had a brain tumor removed. Blue Cross/Blue Shield said they would pay the neurosurgeon 100%. They have issued two checks, but they apparently get "lost" and I was told to take it up with the postal service. Unfortunately for the Republicans, I messed up their plan by not dying quickly.

  • Maybe those checks got rerouted to a certain Indiana Congressman's bank account. I hope you have a long life so you can vote against these repugnant scum for many years.

  • "I can't believe what I just saw" How does the shoe fit you fact rabid republican. YES YOUR DEATH PANEL PLAN HAS BEEN EXPOSED--DIE QUICKLY AMERICAN. Republicans want you to DIE QUICK!!!

  • Dan Burton. Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Rep. Grayson had the guts to at long last speak the truth on the floor of the House of Representatives, right in your smug, plutocratic face.

How dare you, your party, and the Blue Cross Democrats keep killing tends of thousands of people a year!

You are voting against what 65% of Americans want. I hope you have a different career plan in mind. You're being retired next year.

  • What truth? The guy just accused the Republicans of having no health care plan when that's an out and out lie. The GOP plan was released months ago.

  • Got a link to it?

  • Wikipedia. HR 3400. The pdf of the 268-page plan is right there.

  • And equates to exactly what Grayson said. He's right. You're wrong. If he runs for President, I'll vote for him.

Conservatives, including the Blue Cross Democrats and Drop Dead Republicans, should stop killing people. And the Christians among you should read Matthew 25: 31-46. Into which group will you be doled? Sheep or goats?

  • How does it "equate to exactly what Grayson said" when Grayson claimed the GOP had no plan as I just linked you to a 268-page GOP plan released more than 3months ago...?

  • Don't you DARE associate the my Christian lifestyle and the Christian lifestyle in general with that idiot liberal and the liberal way of thinking. Because I'll tell you right now if you think that liberal way of thinking is anyhow somewhat the same as a Christians thought process you're DEAD wrong. From what you said you show no intelligence what so ever. Just about as much as Grayson showed..none.

  • I will speak the facts, tidus, even if you don't like it. I am shocked that Christians stand silent while 44,000 Americans die each year from health care neglect. That you don't follow Jesus' admonishments and parables is not my concern. That's between you and him on Judgment Day. I am concerned about healing people now.

Anybody who supports the GOP plan is, sadly, a sap. More of the same. Lipstick on a pig. United Health Care, our Lord and Savior! Hallelujah

  • Do you believe Alan Grayson when he says 44K+ die every year. Politicians never lie do they. And how does this get spinned onto Christians.
