I play plenty of tennis and it's real folks. He's a bad-*ss player. Plain and simple. Much like Tiger's Nike commercial bouncing the ball on the club then smacking it perfectly straight.
This is for real, I play tennis myself and i can do it as well. I would probably hit the guy (in his face, not in his body I`m not that bad) five out of ten times, but still...And Roger Federer is the greatest ever...So not big deal for him to do this well.
@ 1:43 You can see barely see the ball in front of the light fixture. He throws the ball up towards the one to the right of it, and after hitting it, you can see a yellow-green speck
I am a big Federer fan but unbiased comments... This looks just real. The slowmos are so clear, perfect and inline with the real speed video. And I like the sequence of the things.. conversation with that guy and then the display of this master piece. This must be real. He must have done lot of such practice of hitting the bottles on serve, if not always on the head of somebody, but anyway.
This is similar to what Robin Hood used to do among his fellows, only back then he had a bow n Arrow, and the fellow rests an apple on his head. And it was a risk of life rather than a ball to the face.
@cota4years all this post is wrong. it wasn't "robin hood among his fellows" it was William Tell to his son using a crossbow, and he did it because he was forced to, or so the legend says.
It'd be nice if we could get to see that same shot live but with the bottle not on top of someone's head, maybe on a chair or something... at that distance, i bet 3 or 4 out of 10 shots would not hit the bottle, but most of them would. btw he's a much better player than Nadal... = )

@tennisthemennis why?its not the lack of taget that dont create aces all the time but the existence of another player..exact the same with al the sports..eg in football the attacker knows how to aim (and its way easier when relaxed and noti in game conditions) but there is someone who is defending the goal

its very well done, but if you stop the clip at 1.43 you can actually see where they cut out the real ball and replaced it with a fake one because there are two balls in the pic. I think Rogers is not hitting the first ball, but is shooting slightly underneath it. just a guess though
@JRonimus i know its a fake shot and all, but ever heard of motion blur? thats what your seeing, they wouldnt leave 2 balls on shot at once if they went though all the effort to take clips of a machine doing it and him and merge them, i imagine he didnt even hit the ball in the first place, they wouldnt let him hit it at him then swap to the other shot half way through the air

This is real.. He is a pro.. being a pro a is not easy. Surely he done that in his practices, hitting a specific target.. And in the slow motion, the reaction is late because it is in slow motion.. it didn't come from the right... if you'll watch carefully, you can see a green trail coming from the ball, if it did came to the right.. the ball would drop not at the back of the guy.

Haha, its funny to read the comments of Federers fanboys claiming this is not fake. Despite i believe that he is able to do that, Federer would never risk the health of the target guy, because the probability to hit such a ball two times in a row, "out of the box" is very very low, even for Federer. Also, like subbu272 mentioned, the guy is standing in the darkest corner of the set, that makes no sense for a real attempt. Face it, this is a fake, and dont worry, Federer is still the best :)
@subbu272 he is standing in the corner where there are curtains behind him which won't give the ball a chance to bounce back if he stood in the white which are walls then once the ball knock the can over there is a chance it'll will come back and knock him behind his head. because once the ball struck the curtains the curtain will absorbed the shot a solid wall with not do the same.
@subbu272 btw if you watch the second shot you can clearly see the ball move straight after contact with the racquet and hit the can perfectly about 2-3inches above the dudes head hitting the lower-middle part of the bottle iuno about the first shot that he did though but i can say that the 2nd try was dead on, i guess its easy for me to see it since i'm used to seeing these fast pace balls from serves since i play tennis myself
This is fake...and i can prove it: go exactly to 1:42-1:43 minutes, there you can see the racket of Roger is hitting under the ball...So the ball he trows is to high to hit... You can thank me later;)
@frederikvandeven Yep I see it. If i pause at exactly 1:42 I can see that his racket is already past the contact point, and yet the ball is still floating up above roger's head. Plus Roger is going bad acting throughout and the target guy is overacting.
I really like the video, but it's clearly a (good) fake. Roger would never take the risk of hitting a tennis ball into somebody's face. He's far too nice for that^^
Ive seen Federer Practice one time in US, he can put that ball anywhere inside the service box, he could hit a quater time and time again, they practice this day in day out so its not impossible
After seeing the slow-mo, i think it's fake. It's just like a trick of camera man. Use the same angle to record the video.
We always use it when we take the photos, for exam, we want to push the tower of Pisa in Italy, stay far, catch the correct angle for the people to use the hand or the foot to push it.

Its an illusion. The second shot involved 2 tennis balls. Federer's 2nd shot was never intended for that bottle.

Ive seen Federer Practice one time in US, he can put that ball anywhere inside the service box, he could hit a quater time and time again, they practice this day in day out so its not impossible

After seeing the slow-mo, i think it's fake. It's just like a trick of camera man. Use the same angle to record the video.
We always use it when we take the photos, for exam, we want to push the tower of Pisa in Italy, stay far, catch the correct angle for the people to use the hand or the foot to push it.

No, is not real. He throw the ball away, at the left side, and maybe a machine shoot another ball at the same time from the right side.
It's easy to synchronize the firing of the ball with the sound produced on the racket, as the flash of a camera.
