Oh by the way he did the right thing and not stop!! There are trained people who are there to do exactly that!! Marshals, instructors, first aid, etc you don't need more people who don't know what they are doing getting in the way
The camera-rider did precisely what he should have done; kept riding. 1. The likelihood is he has no first aid skills. 2. Track days always have trained professional medicos. 3. With a bloke injured with his bike not far off blocking one half of the track, the last thing you want is some turkey jumping on his brakes in an attempt to help, blocking the other half of the track. The chap simply tried to come out of the corner too hot. It would have hurt but that was not a bad crash.
@bone2thebone Uh... its a race track, you don't just stop on a race track thats like trying to cross the highway on foot. Even if it is a track day for everyone its still not a good idea.
@7StrangeFruits You can run across a highway easily. I ave plenty of times. Just wait for traffic gaps; but there's no way in hell you should run across a track.
I'm not sure what happened to the Thruxton rider. First mistake looks like he backed off on the throttle as he went around the corner, probably worried he took the corner too fast. Letting off the throttle only makes understeer worse. Second mistake was trying to keep with the corner as he started to hit the bump strip. At that point I would have straightened up, run into the kitty litter and stopped. Lastly the tankslap could have been saved with a quick downshift and a blast of throttle.
A Guzzi rider would have stopped to help. :-) Besides, the preservation of life outweighs any lame argument about track rules and 'getting in the way'.
Damn, that looked like so much fun for a little while. I would have stopped and tried to help the other biker also, unless it was a race, and I don't think it was.
Ouch! Soft springs and a little too much throttle over the rough stuff... steering dampers (and better shocks) would have gone a long way toward helping avoid. My old VMAX was particularly susceptible that bucking bronco effect.
I agree regarding the Thruxton. Fun enough to keep me out of trouble. Look like an MV Augusta (not the F4) with the oddball non-symmetrical instruments.
The Thruxton is a great bike. It's NOT a sports bike. But it handles differently than anything else I've ridden (Harley, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha). For me, it's just fun enough to keep me out of trouble ;0)

I didn't like the Thruxton one bit when I tested it. The wheel base was too long, the handling was fouled by massive torsion between frame and front, the riding position placed way too much bodyweight over the bars and the brakes were terrible. I rated it 5 out 5 for Deathtrap in 2005. :)
I can see somebody with an insane upper-body deformity having this problem with the weight placed on the handlebars. i've tested the thruxton, and i never had any of these problems. sounds like a bias to me. i give you 5 out of 5 for utter bullshit.
Looks like the guy was taking the turn too wide, tried to wait out the speed bumps and they caused a high speed wobble that broke it sideways. Ouch! This teaches us that lack of control is a bad mistake and should have been realized and adjusted for immediatly! Dont wait for the problem to correct itself kids! Ride Safe, and lets be careful out there.
Anyone who would say that, watching this video, is not likely a rider, or is a squid that's never been to a track day. Seasoned riders get off all the time. All he did was get back into the throttle a little too early and that was all she wrote. Probably showing off for the camera.

the Thrux's suspension seemed too soft - the bike bobbed in the corners. The set-up probably contributed to the crash.

So stop OFF the track!
I admit I've never been on a track though.

First rule on a track when someone goes down. Make sure you don't get tangled up in the mess.
Second rule. Get out of the way. The professionals will tender aid. If you stop, you're in the way.

But how did he manage it?
The camera bike was only doing about 110km/h,so the Trumpy went wide at only about 100 to 130km/h?
