and the struggle one one volume then theres fury and dark reunion so thats total of 4 books in the original series and then there nighfall which part of the return series and then theres shadow souls . then there will be vampire diaries return midnight later on. hope this clears things up.

vampire diaries came out years ago. the reason that it's "four" books, is because when it was originally published (in like, 1996) it _was_ four. actually, it was a trilogy and then another came out. And another just came out, amazingly. i personally think the twilight author kind of copied L.J. Smith's books. I was always a big fan of the "nightworld" series when i was in high school.

I didn't quite enjoy Twilight, the best part of the book for me was right at the end and I'll be honest, I can live without reading any of the other books in the series. With that said, I take my hat off for Stephenie Meyer for accomplishing what she did. But I always will be first and foremost a fan of LJ Smith and (most) of her work. There's more depth and history in VD than there is in Twilight, it's not 'just' a love story. Anyway, Edward seemed somewhat 'tame' compared to Damon & Stefan.

I LOVED the Vampire Diaries! Oh my god, how the years have flown by. L.J. was my favorite authoress as a young adult. And yes, L.J. Smith is a woman. Her real name is Lisa Jane Smith and you should definitely check out her website.

I LOVE L.J SMITH!!!!!!! He is such an awesome author! Did you read The Night World Series? You should because it has a lot of his stories in there in like THREE volumes! I haven't gotten far in it but it already got me glued. I'd totally reccomend it and the other two volumes and The Secret Circle.

lj smith is the best author. vampire diaries and secret circle best books written. i am reading twilight series now... and u can't compare. twilight does hit the same emotional magnatude that lj's novels do. But I am enjoying the twilight read. It wouldnt surprise me if meyers has read lj's novels and was 'inspired'from smith.

i read almost all the vampire diaries books except for shadow souls and i just bought the night of the solice and heart of valor and ive read the secret circle books and and hopefully will buy the 3 books in 1 for forbiddin game and i also own all the night world books so far.

yea that sound better then people saying that stephanie meyer from took from lj smith's idea's i mean there can be more than one author the same kind of idea's as long the authors don't use the same names for charectors and same book names etc and same things in the stories.

"Mysterious Italian sexy man" XD hilarious! I love both series the same amount, The vampire diaries has a more traditional type of vampire in it, while Twilight has more of a different/origanal type, both really, really good though! Of course, I'm a vampire junkie so I like almost anything with the creatures in them XD
