Hi john,i work in an apple retail store and we recently had a meeting about blu ray drives being included in apples computer lines as so many customers ask. The main thing that came from that meeting was that apple arrant looking to include blu ray drives in the near future as they are concentrating on the download market of hd movies tv shows etc so the outcome was that we dont think they will offer them built in but they may offer them as a add on device. Quad core is welcome, but they need to bump up the graphics also. $1799 iMac only comes with 256MB discrete graphics. Way too expensive for so little. They need to offer at least 512MB discrete at $1499--w/Quad core.

There's not really anything wrong with the way iTunes works so why change it? It's a little clunky with small music libraries but if you have a lot then it's a god send. Plus, it's mostly Windows users who complain about the navigation because it's different from Windows itself, (Windows 7 is more similar mind) because it's styled after the way Finder works, so it's more in line with navigating a Mac. The new iTunes Store is MUCH better than before too, it takes advantage of more modern web code

Apple makes their iphones in the summer, so Id buy the 3G S unless you can wait 6 months. I upgraded from 3G to 3G S and since I got it in the summer, im pretty sure they will give me a restart on the plan free of charge (many ppl were pissd about paying 400$ for a 3G S and im sure Apple will learn their lesson). Macs dont use Realtek lol. They use Intel, NVIDIA and FOXXCON components and hardware designed by Apple engineers. Also, check inside a Mac, then look inside a PC of the same form factor. You'll notice a massive difference in build quality and the way they're laid out and engineered. A good example is the MacBook Pro's & Mac Pros. The internals of those are outstanding. The airflow and component placement is about as perfect as it gets in consumer machines. Spot the wires lol.

As I said to someone else, keep the proof of purchase then go to the Apple Store if a new version comes out and see if they'll replace it. They usually do, but not always. They'll usually replace it free for for the price difference or a restocking fee.

Keep the reciept, and if they update the line in October they MIGHT replace it for a newer one for you for free, or for the price difference. They're quite good like that at Apple. I know a few people who've done that in the past and they've always gotten the newer model if it came out shortly after they bought theirs. It's not like it's a crap machine though, that will last you years unless you do stupidly hard core stuff with it lol.

Us europeans always get higher prices. And our salleries aren't even higher than the americans. For example in Canada a 16 GB iPod Touch costed 250 dollars, in sweden it would have costed about 300€. It sucks but yeah, importing stuff should work.

Delivery cost alone will cost more, then you'll have to pay import tax and stocking fees or the warehouse it's stored at before it's delivered to your house. Just pay the extra dollar and avoid all the hassle just to save such a silly amount of money on something that's already cheap as hell for what it is.

It's not Apple's fault. It's local tax laws and stuff. They have to make up the money some how from the import duty, storage fee's, taxes and so on that are either cheaper or they just don't have to pay in the US. It's annoying yes but it's a sad reality. We always get screwed on prices and choice compared to the US in Europe. We call the UK "Rip-Off Britain" because of the price hikes lol.

The Mac Pro is cheap for what it is. it's a workstation made with server components so it's going to cost more than a desktop machine with the "same" specs. A single CPU in it for example costs £1,100 and it comes with two, so good luck even buildng your own for much less. If you want a comparison check out the Dell Precision Workstations and so on. They cost more for less in most cases if you add all the extra's tou get with the Mac as standard. (including lessons how to use it)
