i love this game so much, i don't think they did pvp so well though, simply because if order to get invaded you need to be alive, so you can just stay dead the whole time. basically, they don't give you enough benefits for being alive for it to really be worth it like they did in demon souls (in demon souls, your health was halved when you were dead)
@EpicNameBro MAN! I FINALLY KILLED THIS SUMMA GUN! I spent about an hour and a half trying to kill it. My wife came over and watched me die over and over again. I was getting burned out getting killed, so I turned off the game, got some Coke watched some Scrubs. I came back after an hour and worked this fool! You can roll under his legs to get him to trigger his swipe/blast and not his ground/blast.
now that i see it, if he lands a shot when he drops down whit the weapon in the hands then you should go the other way toa void being crushed by that (not saying that what you did was wrong though, just a tip, i don't even play this game)

You're a talented player Epic. I've been playing Demon's Souls NG +3 and The Witcher 2 on hard and I think I couldn't even do a portion of that damage to him.
As I was typing my last comment I was listening to you say you need to gather information on your enemy every time you attempt to fight them. That is exactly the point I was trying to reach.
This game isn't hard anymore, it's just unforgiving. If you make a mistake, you really pay for it, but if you level your character right your damage output is so high you should be able to make up for it. Learning your enemies is the hardest part.

When I fought this boss I was using my Uchigatana +5 with the grass crest shield, it took me four or five times to learn the pattern, but after that it was a walk in the park.
I don't understand why ppl say you need "skill" for this game... compared to games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden this game is a walk in the park...
@EclipseDante The ponly difference is that in this game you don't have double jump, super speed, a sword bigger than your or magical flashy superpowers, wich makes it a lot harder. I've played these hack 'n slashes, they're much easier than this.

Stray demon was pretty easy, killed him from 6th or 7th try, but that damned black knight completely freaked me out.died nearly 20 times, then said "damn noble fight" and backstabbed him to death.
@qwertybert90 levels dont really do much on this game and you can complete this game at level one if you know how to do it. hies not dumb cuz man, i gave up on this fight untill i had better equipment soo i think he did good at observing his movements and not giving up so easily unlike me. :)
@qwertybert90 Don't get me wrong, levels can make a difference, but having souls for buying upgrade materials, and then using said materials to upgrade gear, makes a MUCH more noticeable difference.
@HealthyGamer A nice effort, though. I would offer advice about switching to two-handed style when defense is not needed, but seeing your other Dark Souls videos, it's probably not needed.
To anyone having problems with this guy, you can block BOTH his AOE attacks using the crest shield that you can pick up from the hollow knight in the Asylum. 100% Physical red. and 80% Magic (His AOE is magic based). Hope this helps.....fuck this boss -_-

If a boss has too much hp and you don't have a godly weapon, try anything that causes bleed. I know for a fact that all the fat demons are very weak against it.

Also, try a weapon that can cause bleed if you have one. It's a nice alternative to the Drake. 3 quick hits should trigger a bleed for around 30% of his life
Your right he's weak against bleed weapons...i used a bandit knife to kill him...but it doesnt do 30% damage like normal enemies it takes about 3/4 or a full section of his health
@EpicNameBro The cool thing is that you don't actually aggro him as soon as you fall down. If you run to the third row of pillars, you will be off his radar. This gives time for healing. Also, if you progressed farther in the level and killed the hollow knight, the Crest Shield offers a pretty awesome reduction to magic damage, which his AoE attack is. Combine these things and he's basically a pushover.
@EpicNameBro I agree, Uchigatana is the way to go. My winged spear wouldn't hit him because he's too tall. The Drake Sword takes forever. I must have died 20 times trying to kill him with that thing. I upped the katana up to +4 and got him on like the 3rd try.
@InquisitorPrime kill the first merchant you meat, uchigatana + 10 is the highest dexterity scaling weapon in the game and it has the 2nd highest bleed damage 4 swings on the stray demon and he takes a instant 600 dmg =3
@InquisitorPrime you can roll into the corner as you land, without agroing the stray demon, heal, and get the first hit on him/get him stuck in a single ground pound loop.
it's because of this boss that i wish video games still had cheat codes, because when i fall through the floor into the chamber, the demon quickly use's his hammer on me and i die, im not even allowed the chance to stand as soon as i touch the ground.
normaly i like a challenging boss battle, but this one is so hard that death is instant.
@superzilla784 Roll as you hit the ground, and you will recover more quickly. I recommend coming in from the nest side, not the bonfire side, and rolling backwards as you fall.
@EpicNameBro So, I beat the Stray Demon ASAP at SL 21 on my first playthrough. I used the Black Knight Sword which I happened to loot in the Undead Parish. Same as you, he could one hit me, and he did... with great frequency. Believe it or not, I played this boss exactly the way you did; fall down, roll, get behind his left leg, wait for the fire blast, run and a charge attack. Not to boast, but I also found the hidden nest on my own. Great minds think alike?
youre stubbornness reminds alot of me, when i play games i WONT give up till i tried at least 20-40 times before i accept that OK time to take a break and i wont beat him now lets take a break try again.

@Demiurgo040383 i got Black Knight Sword and now its +5, it deals 370-411 damage when one handed it and when 2 handed , it makes 430-560 damage, tested this to Anor Londo boss :) and my Drake sword is +1 and it deals 60 damage to Anor Londo bosses :D stronger attacks (R2, Ps3 dunno if you play on Xbox.) deals on one handed about 400-600 damage to enemies and when two handed i deals 500-811 damage to AL boss :) backstap does 1000-1700 damage :) phew.. hope you understand my english.. .=)

2nd video I see mate, when you walk up, there's also a key that is like very handy in the upcoming area (to get that Rusty Ring for the swamps in Blighttown). Apologies if I say something that's already mentioned somewhere, just started watching these, since I've just arrived here in Dark Souls :D).
i went here thinking since you beat him at such a low level me being at level 35 would be more then enough,nope. I'm obviously going to keep at it but even at 35 and with the drake sword it takes the same amount of health and timing the damage is exactly the same.
An easy way to beat this Stray Demon is by using a weapon which inflicts bleeding damage, like the bandit's knife (thief class weapon, or a drop from the undead thiefs in low undead burg). The bleeding really takes vast amounts of his life.
THANK GOD I JUST MANAGED TO kill this motherfucker 1 hour ago; many times I was nearly going to finish him off but I got very nervous and because of it I do something stupid or wrong and he One shoots me, but then I remembered your tip and just ignored my nerves, I didn't even watch his life bar and tadaaa!!! killed this big asshole in like 3 minutes with a very good timing !! @bazel1132 yeah, I just fought him again in play 2... sadly, he still managed to kill me on attempts one and two! Once you get into the rhythm he's not bad, but touching ground, luring him forward, and getting the pattern started is always a little dicey.
@bazel1132 I have to say, even though I managed to kill him, I really thought that the Capra Demon was for me the toughest one, especially of course due to his small room and his nice 2 pets. And I still haven't killed this dude, but Capra Demon, took me a while, and it was hard to get passed him.
i wanted to respond about the game freezing--i play it on the 360 and 5 times i leveled up to 31 and each time it froze on the opening game screen.the 6th time i traded it in for a different copy a used one of all things and have had no problems what an efort to play one game but it has been worth it.
i found it pretty useful to run and jump before reaching the collapsible floor to get some extra distance away from the boss. the first like 10 seconds basically decides the fight.
If it makes you feel better I found this guy hard and I was lvl 52 with the Sun Shield +5 and stone armor +3 XD
luckily for me I managed to get him stuck on one of the Columns he destroyed so he was stuck walking to the side and used the opportunity to kill him with soul arrows and standard arrows XD
Just so everyone knows, if you drop down at 0:25 you get some awesome items! Including items to tele you back to last bonfire, and items that let you invade other peoples worlds (cracked red eye orbs)!!!
@EpicNameBro this video is great. The concept of "If you can hit it can be killed" is so true. I wandered into the Valley of Drakes and took out some of those lightning breathers and felt pretty ballah. Are you playing on doing more videos? Best Practices, Best Grinding, Best Weapons, etc. Love your videos!
If you're around level 20, just unequip all your armor and put on your best weapon and two hand it. Drake sword is best here, but if you don't have that, good luck...
You basically NEED to master its pattern. Roll and stay on its backside, but back away when it starts to do its ridiculous AOE attacks. You need to be patient and know when to hug walls and chug potions.
now what I want to know is, why didn't you use the Gargoyle axe, 2 handed? it seems like it would do a lot more damage. Haven't played it though, so I don't know.
just a little note ... "look who's back"? Actually you never killed that guy, when you start the game and as soon as you get out of the cell, look to the right, that dude is there :)
I'm not sure if this is the first boss who came back, or the boss that you can see in the basement when you're first leaving your jail cell. And after you kill the 1st boss in the tutorial, you can still hear a monster stomping around, I'm assuming it's the one in this video.
Tip for this guy, as soon as you fall, and run to the left (or the right, and I'm not sure if that side works). When you're in the columns, Stray will leave you alone until you're ready. This will let you go engage him on your terms instead of scrambling. That, as we all know, can be the difference between life and death
SL 58 here, I've got havel's armor and a +2 lightning cleaver. I'm doing more damage than ENB, but I was wondering what kind of attack he uses? Is it magic or what? I keep getting my ass handed to me, and he always seems to turn a lot better towards me, so that doesn't give me a good chance to get behind him.
HOWEVER, I did find that as he raises his staff, you can roll under his belly and run out of the way before the attack hits you

FYI - this boss is pretty easy if you use a weapon that procs a bleed. I was having a difficult time with my slow-moving, high str build, until I snagged a Bandit's Dagger (drops off assassin's in lower undead burg). Added +3 to it real quick, ran back to the boss, and the fight took just a few minutes.
This shield issue is getting old... I didn't have to die so many times to play through the game multiple times. I am satisfied with my abilities in the game. Moving on...
I'm gonna try to kill him when just starting a new game with just the hilt XD

Yup, sometimes for multiple weapons. I think Sif's soul is used for 3, which means if you want the trophy you play (at least partially) through NG++.
I'd suggest you look up the wiki to see which weapons you have to upgrade to +10 first so you don't waste any titanite materials.

That boss has virtually no bleed resistance: just whip out a low-stat bleed dagger or a great scythe and you'll knock him down in no time.

@InquisitorPrime you can roll into the corner as you land, without agroing the stray demon, heal, and get the first hit on him/get him stuck in a single ground pound loop.
One of the easiest bosses at any level.

it's because of this boss that i wish video games still had cheat codes, because when i fall through the floor into the chamber, the demon quickly use's his hammer on me and i die, im not even allowed the chance to stand as soon as i touch the ground.
normaly i like a challenging boss battle, but this one is so hard that death is instant.

@superzilla784 Roll as you hit the ground, and you will recover more quickly. I recommend coming in from the nest side, not the bonfire side, and rolling backwards as you fall.
This boss is also weak to bleed!

@EpicNameBro i figured out how to fight him, do a hit-and-run stratigy and keep behind him at all time's.
it's a long and hard fight, because you have to time your attacks right and keep your distance yet keep close at the same time.

@EpicNameBro So, I beat the Stray Demon ASAP at SL 21 on my first playthrough. I used the Black Knight Sword which I happened to loot in the Undead Parish. Same as you, he could one hit me, and he did... with great frequency. Believe it or not, I played this boss exactly the way you did; fall down, roll, get behind his left leg, wait for the fire blast, run and a charge attack. Not to boast, but I also found the hidden nest on my own. Great minds think alike?
And shit, he's weak to bleed?

@Demiurgo040383 Most weapons are better than the Drake Sword once you have some increased stats. The Black Knight Sword should be better as long as you have the stats to use it

@Demiurgo040383 i got Black Knight Sword and now its +5, it deals 370-411 damage when one handed it and when 2 handed , it makes 430-560 damage, tested this to Anor Londo boss :) and my Drake sword is +1 and it deals 60 damage to Anor Londo bosses :D stronger attacks (R2, Ps3 dunno if you play on Xbox.) deals on one handed about 400-600 damage to enemies and when two handed i deals 500-811 damage to AL boss :) backstap does 1000-1700 damage :) phew.. hope you understand my english.. .=)

good video but if you kill him when you first see him at the tutorial without going through those doors and you got that rubbish broken sword you can get his axe (maul) takes time but it's kinda worth it i got it took me 15 minutes to kill but in the end definatly worth it the axe is so amazing when you got the strenght requirement and when you got alot of endurance so if anyone wants this demons axe at the tutorial part kill it as soon as you see it without going anywhere kill it their nd then

2nd video I see mate, when you walk up, there's also a key that is like very handy in the upcoming area (to get that Rusty Ring for the swamps in Blighttown). i went here thinking since you beat him at such a low level me being at level 35 would be more then enough,nope. I'm obviously going to keep at it but even at 35 and with the drake sword it takes the same amount of health and timing the damage is exactly the same.

An easy way to beat this Stray Demon is by using a weapon which inflicts bleeding damage, like the bandit's knife (thief class weapon, or a drop from the undead thiefs in low undead burg). The bleeding really takes vast amounts of his life.

@bazel1132 yeah, I just fought him again in play 2... sadly, he still managed to kill me on attempts one and two! Once you get into the rhythm he's not bad, but touching ground, luring him forward, and getting the pattern started is always a little dicey.

i wanted to respond about the game freezing--i play it on the 360 and 5 times i leveled up to 31 and each time it froze on the opening game screen.the 6th time i traded it in for a different copy a used one of all things and have had no problems what an efort to play one game but it has been worth it.

I killed this boss which was fairly easy. I got 2 tips for anyone fighting this:
1) use a weapon that causes bleeding (i.e. uchigatana), with 3 hits you trigger the effect for 100+ damage
2) 2 hand your weapon as you are not blocking his attacks (simply avoid it as shown in the vid)
Should be relatively easy once you got the feeling for it.

i found it pretty useful to run and jump before reaching the collapsible floor to get some extra distance away from the boss. the first like 10 seconds basically decides the fight.

If it makes you feel better I found this guy hard and I was lvl 52 with the Sun Shield +5 and stone armor +3 XD
luckily for me I managed to get him stuck on one of the Columns he destroyed so he was stuck walking to the side and used the opportunity to kill him with soul arrows and standard arrows XD

If you're around level 20, just unequip all your armor and put on your best weapon and two hand it. Drake sword is best here, but if you don't have that, good luck...
You basically NEED to master its pattern. Roll and stay on its backside, but back away when it starts to do its ridiculous AOE attacks. You need to be patient and know when to hug walls and chug potions.

Tip for this guy, as soon as you fall, and run to the left (or the right, and I'm not sure if that side works). When you're in the columns, Stray will leave you alone until you're ready. This will let you go engage him on your terms instead of scrambling. That, as we all know, can be the difference between life and death

SL 58 here, I've got havel's armor and a +2 lightning cleaver. I'm doing more damage than ENB, but I was wondering what kind of attack he uses? Is it magic or what? I keep getting my ass handed to me, and he always seems to turn a lot better towards me, so that doesn't give me a good chance to get behind him.
HOWEVER, I did find that as he raises his staff, you can roll under his belly and run out of the way before the attack hits you

FYI - this boss is pretty easy if you use a weapon that procs a bleed. I was having a difficult time with my slow-moving, high str build, until I snagged a Bandit's Dagger (drops off assassin's in lower undead burg). Added +3 to it real quick, ran back to the boss, and the fight took just a few minutes.
