AWD always means more mechanical components (power loss), higher fuel consumption AND it isnt necessary in most cases. M3 GTS, Porsche GT2/3 RS and many more

And when it comes to efficiency, BMW is far ahead of Audi. Especially when it comes to Diesel engines.

I have 96 eurospec m3, but it feels that e36 M3 don't have that real M3 feeling, maybe because every m-sport e36 looks exatcly same or they are just too cheap. you can get 92-95 M3 for few K.

US spec e36 M3 basicly only has m3 badge so i really wouln't count that as M3. even the engine is same as other "normal" beemers, just bored bigger...

Imho there is only one real competitor when it comes to pure racing performance: Porsche. Thats all. No other german manufacturer has enough experience to compete with BMW on a track.

I'm not going to say Audi has had the same "nostalgia win" as BMW; seeing the first generation m5 proves that to me, but saying they Audi's have lacked innovation when they've come up with an incredible all wheel drive system, and won 24 hours of le mans with a diesel (diesel!) is downright ridiculous.
