G.P. ALWAYS meant what he said. Back in the 60's he was known as 'that sonofabitch Peppard" just for that reason. The producers of A-Team sure had a lot to do with the bitterness between GP and mr. T (somewehere mid-4th season). Had to do with the pay, and the way the rest of the actors were treated -not just Peppard. Most of the guest stars though would comment on how reserved and newtral GP was, despite the rather crude way T treated him, especially.
@80sguy It did kind of surprise me he (Peppard) was there, Hulk Hogan said in his biography that he was offered to be on the show for an entire season after he guest starred, because the 2 of them hated each other (thought each other were trying to upstage each other and steal each others scene etc) and he was a great buffer to keep things calm between them. He even joked they didn't want him on the show for his acting skills, but his peacekeeping skills. Glad to hear they patched things up
@bigrigbob2010 they naver patched things up - this roast is somewhere along the 2nd A-team's season. Things went downhil mid-4th season. They never hated each other, if you see other interviews by both actors they spoke very well for each other. Even if the studio leaned on Peppard, he wouldn't do that if he didn't feel like it (he was actually the first choice for Blake Carrington in "Dynasty" but he expressed his opinion at some points and left, after the pilot episode despite he needed work.
I really doubt George Peppard would have said anything that he didn't mean, and say it with such conviction. He strikes me as a kind of person who wasn't afraid of speaking his own mind, often with little care what people thought. So I agree with 80sguy here - that was a great speech!
George Peppard was a gentleman. God rest him.

George Peppard would have made an excellent President if he were alive today.

Bizarrely, when this was shown in Australia, I don't think the segment with the Australian speaker was in it!

Way to break the mood, Peppard. That's supposed to be a roast, not an obituary.

This is bullshit, Peppard hated T and they never got along on set.

Look at the quality and taste of the humor...you could easily watch it with your parents, kids ...unlike today's roasts

@bigrigbob2010 This roast is between 1st and 2nd season of the A-Team. Things got sour mid-way in the 4th season.
