  • I wish someone would post songs from the Short Order EP

  • so sick! can't find a torrent anywhere! =/

  • @darkment0r how about going to their website and buying their music? they already post it on youtube for you

  • Love this song wish more people knew about them. But I guess their missing out not me.

  • Any music video that wins best music video at the grammys is undeserving. Because this one deserves that title. Especially because it was made by just 2 guys with a camera.

  • First time I ever saw these guys... I always thought they were black.

  • @OneADayFoody same...

  • The piano just brings an Americana kind of feel to it. Fantastic.

  • this beat is noiice

  • So great!! Listened to this shit like five times in a row at work today. Freakin great song. Dude gots some serious skills.

  • Straight up word skills!

  • where the fuck can i get lyrics for this??!

  • Love this song. SO terrifying. It's wondrous :)

  • Heard on Pandora and love the Americana vibe that's brought to the genre.

  • Heard on Pandora and love the Americana vibe that's brought to the genre.

  • awsome lyrics love it.

  • Chilling song to listen to while driving down a dark road at night (which I did curse/ bless you pandora lol!) But my question is...did he make the deal or not?? 0_o

  • Eminem is nothing but a sob story!!!! Honestly what this is amazing they took an old tune/ dark carnival vibe and told a story via rap its trueky amazing!!!

  • Dude this is the shit I heard this on pandora and I cant get this outa my head I absoulutely love it!!!

  • good vid for a indie rap duo

  • Keepin it real means getting paid? Since when? Fuck money. fuckin live life.

  • Everyone needs to stop actin like eminems the only white rapper. And people glorify him cuz he's a good rapper and he's white. If a black dude was spittiin ems shit it would be underground. Eminems a fuckiin gimmick these days come on now.

  • Eminem would be better, if less of his songs were not completely retarded. He's a little too into silly ass voices.

This shit, on the other hand, is quite creative.

  • Music.is music. 10 people could know about it, 2000000000000 could know about it it makes no difference and I cant believe anybody gives a shit

  • this is awesome! i love the incorporation of the piano... This has been around since 2007!? why am i only now hearing it! THATS the kind of rap/hip-hop i can actually get into!

  • THIS IS A TUNEEE !!

  • Heard this in '07 on Wendy's burger builder. Lol, being fat is so awesome.

  • The last verse is one of the coolest I've ever heard.

  • If all rap songs were as good as this I might actually listen to the genre more

  • Bump! I like it!

  • reminds me of emm and thts rlly good...

  • @crazy4donutz1 dude no way i feel the same way

  • What a way with words, similar ,(and sorry to upset but i AM paying a compliment) like eminem.

Thank you PANDORA radio, if not for you i would have missed out .

  • @PragnaKhan ok good, im not the only one that thought of eminem

  • this is epic!

  • I love that Piano so much....... the rest is ok and good, but that piano is awesome.

  • SICK. can someone tell mewhere i can download their music... for free:) PLEASE

  • @MAFcknD lemonparty (dot) org it's a spin off of Limewire.

  • Keeping it real? Don't forget rap's number 1 rule. Cash rules everything around me. Getting paid is keeping it real.

Why is this being compared to em and dre anyway? Em's story telling songs are generally not that good. Guilty conscious and Stan are the only too that stand out, and that's because they had a cool theme. Better comparison would be slick rick or eazy.

They both have clever wordplay but at different ends of the spectrum.

  • this is better then dre and em - why? well it aint main stream and these dudes aint doin soda or car commercials umm whats that called umm oh yeah - keepin it real

  • @vandaljmp You're a fucking retard if you think that that makes this better than Dre and Em. It's a good song but what they're doing has no impact on the music itself. Just because something isn't mainstream doesn't make it an awesome hidden gem or something.

  • @Smilekrieg just because something is mainstream like "i need a doctor" does not mean its making a positive impact in music, let alone real hip-hop culture...the reason artists like this never make an "impact" is because there are not enough conscious hip-hop listeners out there to appreciate this..your all too busy listening to recovery and drake..but you can have your mainstream, we live underground!

  • @izzy1789 love it down here, the music great!

  • @Smilekrieg This, to a fan of real music, has done more in the form of impacting music than Eminem, Dr. Dre, Wiz Khalifa, Lil' Wayne, Drake, J. Cole....this a story NONE of those other artists can tell, and in a form of delivery unmatched by anything the mainstream has ever done.

  • Shits downnn

  • creepy as hell

  • I wish the group was still together, where did that bad ass guitarist rapper go?

  • @supercatmatt I worked with Brian at Old Bag of Nails right before they split up...I've been trying to hunt him down for a few years now. I, too, wish they were still together.

  • awesome - the best type of rap - not that money, hoes n all that the rest rap about

  • Please come back . D :

  • Am i the only one who thinks this guy sounds like eminem in his older days?

  • @1Karmakazi1 I thought the same thing!

  • Why isnt this guy a star? this guy is lyrically equal to eminem in his good days. damn

  • No way not equal. Yeah this guys is dope but Em is on another level when it comes to using interesting metaphors.

  • Plus this sound isn't very repeitive friendly and Dre did a much better job with Em.

  • where can I get that mask. I might like to use something like it in a video.

  • where can I get that mask. I might like to use something like it in a video

  • Fuck... I liked these guys.

If i ever get rich... which I won't, I will fucking give them half of my income to make more music like this.... and fluid.... I fucking loved these guys.

  • It really is too bad these guys disbanded.

  • @undeadhunter7499 This song is definitely worth buying, and I'm not one to buy a lot of online things. Yarr.

  • it's a nice night for a walk, would you mind if i join you?

    Do what you wanna do

Thats great cause i'm going to, and not to annoy you but see i really have to ask, what a young dude like you's doing out by the tracks? You waitin on a train?

Nah, man let me explain, i'm minding my business and maybe you should do the same. i just been a witness to someting sick and sadistic so twistily disgusting you should feel real lucky you missed it

Hell Yeah, i can rap this part!

  • Outstanding production. I love the story...like a good book you can't put down. The musical style is incredebly unique; kinda like "ragtime/rap"? Did you guys shoot/edit all the video? How many hours in editing...it's gotta be massive...Great job...

  • @YorksOwn would that be called..raptime?

  • hick-hop

  • "I can show you things to paint all your dreams haunted. I could make you scream if I wanted."

    My favorite part!

  • love this shit!!!!

  • I need the lyrics to this song.

  • Comment removed

  • Great stuff! I just found you guys the other day via Pandora. Wish I would have been hip to you guys back when you played Grog Shop up in Cleveland, would have went down by the track to get those tickets, lol. Also, question...is Short Order EP still available anywhere? I got Half Full Ashtrays but cant find Short Order anywhere.

  • @Shintao heard them on Pandora too, good shit

  • @jorgetokesalot Heard em on my Quasimoto station :P

  • cypress hill / eminem= THE LAB RATS!

  • This is one FREAKY song! But its so good!

  • LAB RATS > EMINEM

  • "You can imagine, not the average things you'd see on acid/

My granddad bloody hovering on the speaker cabinet/

Laughing in a raspy tone covered in maggots/

That snacked on his fat to the bone, I couldn't grasp it"

Just the sound of those words spoken aloud gives this chill in your bones - these guys are master wordsmiths with a real sense of what sounds good and what sounds... chilling.

  • Where can you get a mask like that? :)

  • This is one of better songs I've heard in a long, long time.

  • cool song though i dont see why satan has to stick out like that,he coudlve looked classy, instead of looking like he was going to tell you a story about his abusive father or brushing his teeth with a razor

  • This song made me like Rap. [Only good rap like this though]

  • who produced

    ????!?!

  • i love love love this song! something you dont hear everyday

  • sick nasty....brain brown is tizzy

  • i usually dont listen to this kind of music, but this really is nice ((:

  • I love the poetry, the birth of sadness, the verge of madness, Great stuff.

  • my bad i meant a thumbs up.

  • i don't care what he's saying, I like it!

  • You're funny dude. Get some more sleep.

  • HAHA that argument below is hysterical, you dudes got toooo much time. Great band, good song, average video. shoulda got me to do it boyzies... Too late now RIP.

  • I was lying on the beach when we had that argument. On vacation. First week off in three years. Soooo... you really know nothing about me. I work sixteen hours a day and sleep two hours a night.

Surely, though, your time is much better spent.

  • I love this song soooo much.

  • if he was born 14 years after his mom was told about not letting her kid go to the tracks, then how does he know that his grandfather was floating there? he would have never seen him.

  • It's a song, a series of metaphors and a narrative, asshole; it's not meant to be 100% factually accurate. If Icarus had wings made of wax, how did he fly?

Reflect on that, and you'll discover the truth: You suck bunghole.

    It's true!

    XcD

  • please, enlighten me to the "metaphor" that he is talking about. What metaphor is there of being told when he was 14 years old about a story about his grandfather whom he never met. What metaphor could that possibly stand for? please, you seem to know all, enlighten me, i'm willing to be taught.

But at least from my standpoint, i can't see a possible metaphor for that. Maybe you mistook metaphor for something else.

  • Metaphor: the concept of using words in a story to convey something not literally true, but better expressed thru allegory & representative situations that may not have actually happened (or are even possible) in actual reality.

The narrator encounters the same pitfalls of his ancestry; his grandfather was a "gamblin' man, and ramblin' man" who made many mistakes & paid for them, metaphorically speaking, w/ his soul. The narrator makes the same mistakes, despite having been given fair warning.

  • thats amazing, but you seem to have missed what you and myself were talking about. How is the 14 year old know what his grandfather looked like if he never had seen him. Yes the rest of it is a metaphor, that I agree with. But my comment, and the other comments are all about how he would know that.

So I'll ask again, how is the singer not knowing what his father looked like and then seeing him a metaphor of? He point is he doesn't know what the guy looks like.

Please try to stay on topic.

  • This song has nothing to do with what the narrator's grandfather looks like (and makes no mention of his father, for the record; the only time anyone's father is mentioned, it's his mother's father, and therefore still his grandfather). Even in the video itself, the character representing the grandfather is wearing a mask like the character that represents the devil, as both are ubiquitously unknowable entities to our protagonist.

The only thing missing here is a cogent argument from your side.

  • i love how you keep trying to educate me on what the song is, but all i was saying is that there is a mistake in the lyrics / story, that he coulnd't not have known what his grandfather looked like if he wasn't born when his grandfather died.

Even in metaphors, they don't leave loop holes like that. Sure icarius wings were made of wax, but they didn't say he was flying without wings, so the wax wings become a metaphor.

I'm still waiting on you to even present a side.

  • "If you ever have a son, let him know that his granddad loved him, but by the time that he's grown, be sure that this seed is sown deep within his dome: Don't ever, ever walk to the train tracks alone."

"When I was a todd[ler], my mom dropped fables and stories to warn me of the dangers that were laying before me."

These imply it was passed down to the narrator by his mom. He saw his granddad hallucinating during an acid trip. There's no incongruity. I'm over this, retard. It's a fucking song.

  • Seriously? Think outside the box just a little man. Maybe his mom had a photograph of her dad around the house? Wouldn't that be a shocker... My grandad was dead before I was born and I know exactly what he looks like... now stop trying to pick out nuances to try and sound smart and enjoy the music.

  • Thought it was Eminem. Good job.

  • i dont listen to rap but this is pretty gooD!

  • Whoops half my comment wasnt posted. I meant I dislike rap, but these guys are awesome. This is rap at its best!

  • I think it's because it's not about smacking ho's and cappin cops while showing off their bling with whores. It actually has some form of coherent story.

  • Immortal Technique "Dance with the Devil" it's a good song.

  • if you like rap that tells a story try listening to Immortal Technique "Dance with the Devil"

  • I guess I listened to the wrong rap, ha.

  • I saw them live. Its was about week later they broke up.

    That sucks.

  • @nubbyknob:

You're lucky. I wish I had seen them before they died out. The Lab Rats will be missed dearly, by myself and many others as well. I have a feeling that they broke up over something petty, even though their website claims that they parted ways amicably.

  • I love this song and video. My bro-in-law in NYC turned me on to it and I live in Columbus. So artful, such a great rap, so classic!!

  • man I miss these guys

  • what happened to them??

  • when i first heard this song i thought it was eminem.....they have the same voice...but then i payed close attention to the lyrics and it just didn't match

  • this kicked ass

  • This is sooooooooooo cool! I hate rap as a rule, but this this this is unbelievable!!!!

  • It's really sad more people don't know about The Lab Rats.

  • Amazing! About 3 additional rhymes a line. That's amazing!

  • thats pretty messed up shiznit but in a good way

  • This song is sick. 0:59-1:08 is the scariest shit.

  • you guys rule! bringing the real shit

  • I love this rap and video. So original.

  • man, that's such a good rap.

  • you guys are amazing

    totally original

your way better than the recent mainstream rap

  • listen to the song daily grind. actually check out the whole album. but in daily grind he rips on mainstream rappers

  • Great song and a good feel to the video.

  • Yeah, I went and bought the track on URGE right after I heard it. I don't even listen to rap all that much anymore, but this guy sounds like what eminem use to before his shit got to Gangster. To bad Em doesn't still rhyme like that.

  • He's sayin "sittin on the tracks, waitin for the night train, lookin down the road ain't never gonna go back"...

  • Great Song... I just Wish the Lab Rats would release some new stuff.

  • amazing, if only all hip-hop was like this

  • Saw you guys at the Balcony in Oxford a little over a year ago... Incredible

  • Wow, man. This has got to be one of the SICKEST songs ever. No seriouly, i've listen to this song all the way though like 80 times in the past 24 hours. Hella sick rapping and lyrics. My friend and I saw it on a Wendy's commercial thing at the movies and looked you guys up. Can't wait to hear more.

  • I luv it!!!:)

  • wow, i was astonished, honestly, i -hate- rap, aside from some pac. but really, this is good. i love it :D and your getting this from a emo/punk/rocker :D

  • I love this song, I heard it at a movie theater during a preview. I love the rap on the music, they sounds awesome together.

  • can someone give me the lyrics to this?? I've been looking for them for sooo long and I also found this on wendy's webpage..by accident haha

  • Hot video. i need one of those.

  • Awesome. I first heard this when my sister brought home the "Alive" compilation and I was instantly hooked.

  • I found this song on Wendy's website. Thought it was Eminem.

  • You know, in a "go with him Haley" sort of way.

  • Yeah, same here. Just saw it on that Create Your Own Wendy's commercial last night and was searching for this phantom "EM" song... glad to find out who it really was!

  • Only at first.

  • goddamn you guys is the bizzomb

  • holy shit you guys just need a break. This is some seriously good shit.

  • Great job guys! Nice narrative. Cool imagery. I love the music.

  • Nice! A lot went into this one...I'll be watching it a few more times. Very different style from the previous Lab Rats stuff.
