I hate all this cheesy crap with people putting themselves in the same catagory as racial discrimination and gay rights and things like that when it's really not. I think it's putting too much emphasis on atheism as a way of life rather than a simple stance on a simple question. I don't think this kind of thing is putting atheism in the right light to the relitious, it just looks like another cheesy Christian video.
@happyhappy85 Not sure how being black or gay is a way or life, when my brother does something he doesn't decide "I'm going to do this in a gay way?" also when my best friend does something, I doubt he thinks "How can I do this in a way that is as 'Black' as possible?".
I am British and we are a secular country and have very little anti-black or anti-gay sentiment though, so correct me if I don't understand the issue you are raising. But in my eyes we all have the right to be cheesy.
@analukahuna I'm not sure you read me right, and that may be my fault, but I'm not sure I ever said being gay, black or both... were a way of life. My point was being gay or black are not pointless philosophical questions, they are simply a way of being. People are born gay, people are born black. These things have nothing to do with ideas on why or how we exist and I'm not sure about putting atheism in the same catagory. This video would work well if you made it a gay rights video.
Let's assume that religion alone catalyzed grate architecture. Show me one that has the value of a life? "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" So which do you believe a god would choose?.
I want a sure answer. You are thinking that religion does play a large row in magnificent buildings. What else could drive a large mass of people to build such a beautiful useless construction other than a homage to their believes?
@shoa31 I agree with you on that aspect.... just thought that you was trying to make another point... saying that without religion we couldn't do anything great... that's just the oposite =]
I love being atheist. changed my life for the better. no more pesky morals. and bbq'ing live puppy dogs between orgies is THE BOMB! which reminds me, better make an appt to get my horns re filed down before the next get together - they grow so fast!
seriously tho, if this type of push is needed in usa, it must be a pretty ignorant place (no fence ppl) where i live, religion just aint the issue it is there, fortunately. wish u the best and still fully support u all in educating the populace.
If the goals of equality and freedom are reached, I ccould do without respect which, it seems, has to be earned individually and personally. Rather than respect I'd really like to see *tolerance* emerge.

If religion doesn't exist would science be at war with each other as shown in one of the South Park episodes?

@shoa31 not sure, but I'm sure that it wouldn't have been built without slavery

@shoa31 i don't have the answer that "fits" what you are waiting for...

I don't need your answer. Just make sure that God and Government are seperated. Otherwise we will be building another beautiful but useless pyramid.

Nice video - but it doesn't really broach the issues of secularism that the competition was supposed to be about.
