@TheLuaron I am working on recreating this track (I will not reproduce it, I HATE "stealing" others music), but this is such a cool song I want to learn it for my own personal enjoyment. So mabey when I'm done I'll midi record it, and get sheet music.
Then again, he has a library of over 9000 individual songs in his brain. I'm sure it gets hard not going into a different rhythm while playing live where it is hard to concentrate in the first place.
@josephjester I mean as in using music rather than figuring out by ear. Jordan uses sheet music because he's playing a song original to his band. I read sheet music for classical pieces, of course, but when it comes to jazz or Rock, I figure it out by ear. It allows you to understand the music more than just looking at the notes. Also, it makes music theory easier to understand and/or implement.
Im 100% certain that Jordan could single handedly outplay every member of dream theater without breaking a sweat, his level of musicianship is just above and beyond anything or anyone ive heard play
No such thing as a tablature on a keyboard. You'll have to ask for sheet music if you want that. Honestly, I'm completely anti-tab, just because it's nowhere near the depth of actually sheet music, showing no dynamics, rhythms, or styles, and just showing you what notes to play.
I understand where you're coming from, but there are some pretty technical tabs out there for people who actually spend time on making them. They show things like BPM's the time signature, (no key signature though), and they show the duration of notes and rests. But yeah I respect your opinion.
Keyboard tabbing would be pretty much impossible wouldn't it? Sheet music is pretty much as simple as you can get for keyboard. Maybe only because I can't see it written in any other way.
That's good, I don't like when people use sheet music, especially on simple pieces/songs (though this one definitely isn't simple). I only figure out by ear, since it allows me to be more creative and it only takes a few seconds most of the time.
You could use a sequence of notes, using the keyboard notation. But in this case, it's would be only to show the order and showing how to play many notes at the same time become difficult.
That's completely true for all instruments, and not just the piano. However, sites like Ultimate Gutiar (guitar tabs) and TabNabber (piano tabs) stil exist.
It's just that some people are too lazy/not serious enough to learn how to read sheet music/look for it.
I gotta say I'm a guitar head and have been all my life but after hearing some of Rudess' stuff I had to buy everything he'd made over the years. This of course led me to Dream Theater and have been a fan ever since. What a masterful player.
i wanna hug him! xD :)

I'm sure there is a way, but it's never been done. I think it would be pointless on the keyboard when sheet music is easy enough to read.
NejiHyuuga777 2 years ago
I prefer going by ear actually.

Plus you don't clutter your keyboard/piano with lots of paper.

@NejiHyuuga777 thats such an odd thing to say "I dont like when people use sheet music". Why is this?

same, i took piano lessons, but when they finished, i stopped reading music, but kept playing piano
