  • actually upthedub is 100 per cent there, Jimmy mac Carthy is a genius, hate to see it taken away from him...

  • I've heard Christy singing this umpteen times live and I think it's a great tribute to him that Paolo covers it. He's connecting with the Irish side of Glasgow, just like the Irish side Celts to the core good for him!

  • hahaha, head on this gobshite tryin to follow christy, he isnt fit to bring the man a glass of water.

  • this song was originally writing by an Irish traveller. Cristy paid the traveller £40 for the song. if you didn't no that, well then you don't no shit about Irish music.

  • @upthedub1 Wrong. It was penned by James "Jimmy" MacCarthy a singer/songwriter from Macroom, County Cork.. he also wrote "Missing You", "Bright Blue Rose" and "Mystic Lipstick" all covered by Christy...just saying!!!

  • @seanog75 upthedub1 most know fuck all then!

  • Why does this guy sound like he's 70?

  • sorry but i just dont get what the fuss is about with this guy, heard him covering Caledonia as well and it was not great, he couldn't hold a candle to Christy or Dougie.

  • The song was written by Jimmy MacCarthy, who also wrote Missing You and Bright Blue Rose which Christy Moore also covered.

  • go to jail u r terible

  • gowan christy ride that horse ye legend

  • Such a great moment with all people singing along...

  • You were so lucky to be there! :)

  • Nice vid, thanks for sharing :)

  • I'm hoping this song is on the new album, or at least the next... I'll probably wear it out by playing it so much!!! Keep coming back to watch and listen over and over... Can't even begin to imagine what the studio version is going to be like. :D

  • Lyrics to "Ride On"

True you ride the finest hourse I've ever seen

Standing sixteen, one or two, with eyes wild and green

You ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch

I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to

Ride on, see you, I could never go with you

No matter how I wanted to

  • When you ride into the night without a trace behind

Run your claw along my gut, one last time

I turn to face an empty space, where you used to lie

And look for a spark that lights the night

Through a teardrop in my eye

  • I read recently that the writer of the song wrote: "Run THE claw along my gut, one last time". (In second line).

  • This is a cover of Christy Moore's "Ride On." Sad song that can make me cry. Great tune.

  • I want to hear MORE!!! :D Love this song! Wow, Paolo, you're really throwing out a lot of new ones I haven't heard you do before. I'm so excited to see what you include on your new album. I'm very patiently waiting... :)

Thank you very much for taking the time to upload, coolaboolaali! It may be short, but it's certainly sweet! :)
