Looks like Illinois Central was desperate if they had to resort to using (2) 6000 seires & a 1000 series locomotives instead of (3) 3100 series locomotives.
I used to watch trains on this same line about 30 mins north in Atoka, when I was a kid. The only reason I know the two connect is because on occasion I'd see the Amtrak pass through our sleepy little town.
@HisNameWasMurr In speaking about Illinois Central and Amtrak I have a photo of a Illinois Central loaded grain train near Curve in Lauderdale County I was at the riverfront in downtown Memphis I saw Amtrak City of New Orleans heading to and heading out from Amtrak Central Station in 1997.
