I remember seeing Shredder Orpheus every weekend at the Neptune when it came out (it was kind of a cult thing, friday nights was the Rocky Horror gang, Saturday was for Shredder Orpheus). I saw Super 8 and never got that impression about the film, nor do I see it in this comparison. At all.
Super 8 wasn't about a skate board from hell, it was about...bad cgi.
