Why am I just now seeing this great video?? (Better late than never!) Be sure to press the air out of your bags of herbs. To keep their potency, store each bag in a ziplock bag. Just put the whole bag (pressed) into a ziploc bag and store in a dry, dark place!
@rose500 Thanks! U can use whatever you think your scalp needs. Right now I've replaced the aloe with apple cider vinegar. I had stopped using this mix for a while out of laziness and my scalp has flared up again. Once I get it back under control, I'll taper off the ACV to maybe once a week usage and use the brew with water for the second washing during the week. After this vid, I have found aloe in a powder form so I dissolve approx 1/4 teaspoon in water making an aloe juice.
@rose500 If you've got essential oils like rosemary, lemongrass, sage you could use those in water instead of the aloe. Make sure to check to see if you might be sensitive to those EOs esp the rosemary & sage. Also letting the brew steep for a longer period of time will result in more of the good stuff coming out of the plant material.
@blueberry2118 if you have a flea market or jockey lott near you there are shops that sell them...i stumbled across one and there prices are very good by ounce :)
I have a similar condition where my scalp produces and over abundance of sebum and itches like crazy. I have to wash every 2-5 days. I too am using natural means of dealing with this issue. Thanks for the info shared in this vid!
You are welcome. Don't know if I mentioned it in the vid but I'm washing every 2-3 days right now too. If I try to go past day 5 my scalp starts to send me messages that the flake factory is going to ramp up production if I don't take corrective action soon. I can actually feel it. B4 I caught on to this I thought I had lice in my head or something! lol
You did mention that...I think I glossed over it. My scalp responds the same way! Do you think the frequent washes have slowed the locking process? Thats one of my concerns if I loc my hair one day because I hear from various women that frequent washes can do that.
Just the opposite. They started condensing faster when I started rinsing daily in the summer. I often wonder if I had done that when I first started locking Aug 08 they may have all locked and lost the braid pattern b4 month 12. My locs have seemed to transform more in the last 5 months of minimum 4 times a week washing than the 1st 5 months of weekly washing & spritzing. That's the great thing about interlocking/latching for maintenence and starting out with braids or interlocs.
oh btw..same things w/the dried beans u eat like pinto and black beans, etc. lol..no sense spending alot of money on the same herbs u can grow organically yourself if u have a pot or room in your yard...& if u grow it yourself u know its organic.
oh did u know that some seeds u by in the store as herbs for food like sesame seeds, poppy seeds, coriander (cilantro), fennel, etc will sprout? Just sprinkle in soil/compost and keep moist like any other seed u would germinate...just a money saving tip. =)
Poppy seeds, girl u tryin' to get me arrested! I've already been told by a neighbor that moved in after I did that people though I was growing "weed" in my little now defunct greenhouse when I got it. lol But seriously, u know I never thought about trying that esp fennel. I do green onions like that..use the top n put the bottom part in the pot. In a few weeks a new green onion. Thanks for that tip Sis!!
well the kind of poppy seeds they put on top of bread/rolls..lol..i hope that dont grow opium, haha..i need to look that up! well u will have your own private cough syrup,hahaha..speaking of weed, I found one of those in my garden & only thing I can think of was it came from a bird dropping..honey I snatched that thing right out of my garden & was wondering which neighbor was growing that nearby, hahaha...I have been doing the end pieces of onion like u taught me..works 4 carrot tops too!
hi msfullroller, u know since u have a garden u can grow most of those herbs yourself and just take the leaves and dry them in your kitchen on paper towels then chop them up & place them in ziplock bags & label them...just a thought...then it would be FREE! yeah!! =) will save u enough money to help w/your coconut creme...the ones that are powdered just crush in a mortar & pestle u can get at any latino store they use to make salsa with. btw great locks!!
Thank you so much for this info!! I was wondering where to look for the mortar & pestle! So far the only herbs I've had success with are rosemary & lavender and that's after 2 attemps. However, with all the rain it looks like the only survivor of those 2 is the rosemary. lol I do have some stevia so that will be my first start.
Yeah it's great! They let you get as much or as little as you want, meaning they'll show you the bag size and ask which one you want or the dollar amount u want then they put it in the bag.
