Dear Mr.Crabbe,"The Superman March"theme music...for the Fleischer/Famous Studios movie cartoons..was also used for later "The Adventures Of Superman"radio shows.
@derekwc Sorry...I went back and looked at this and I think I sounded a little like a dick. I'm a big fan of the genre and think you've done a nice job. Please continue to dazzle us. :)
No worries. I remember watching a video where Hank Pym was being pronounced Pime instead of Pim. It drove me nuts. I appreciate the feedback. I am always happy to be able to continue to add to my knowledge on the subject.
@derekwc this made my day. nice to hear someone being cool like you.. first i seen in these yt comments pages i trawl. i once had a girlfriend who pronounced it.. Al Caponeee.. needless to say we had an argument or two. FGreat documentary btw!
That cartoon was made in the 40's? I'm used to seeing cartoons from that era being somewhat dim in color and slow on animation but this is vibrantly colorful and very fluid and fast that I mistook it for something of the 80's. It looks AWESOME!
If you listen to episode two of the radio series, (the character's introduction) you will witness Superman fly for the first time. This was February of 1940.
While some instances in the Fleischer cartoons can be described as flying (dramatic license, more likely), for the most part he is struggling against gravity by jumping, climbing, etc.
the first imaginary story in the superman comics was an occasion where lois and clark went to the movies and what was playing? one of fleischer's cartoons. Clark had to go out of his way to get lois' attention when his screen counterpart switched clothes.
actually you mixed it up the radio show originated the opening mantra they were using it for a year before the first cartoon was released and it was adapted by the Flescher studios
another little tidbit in issue 66 of Detective Comics the character of Two-Face is racing into a theater with the intention of robbing the patrons as they are watching a Superman cartoon
I like the way things were animated back then

You are mispronouncing Bud Collier's last name. The first syllable rhymes with the first syllable of "cauliflower: not with "coal"

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try not to butcher the pronounciation of his last name from now on.
Thanks for watching.

Lend A Paw? Nobody remember's that now and all cartoon and comic book fans know the Fleischer Superman. The style was wonderfully pulp.

The Superman serials will be coming soon.
I've just gotten a bit overwhelmed with other projects in my life right now.

Superman vs. the Mole Men had a theatrical release as well-- even though it was the television show. Will you be covering the Superman serial?
