Bass should get his own series on the 3DS. The Circle Pad would let him shoot in ANY direction. L is Dash. R is the buster from MM7. X and Y is change weapons. A is jump. B is the buster from this game.

They are the same to me in power. Bass' benefits lie with the double jump, ALMOST EVERY DIRECTION (except down) and dash, but he is less powerful in even pellets shots than Mega Man, cannot charge up his blasts, and his battles will be long because of this.

Another tidbit: Inafune also wanted this game to be as "hardcore" as possible. He constantly kept telling the design team to make things more difficult for the player. This is from The Mega Man completed works art book.

The reason this game is so similar to 8 is because Inafune thought that many kids were unable to play 8, since it was a Saturn and PS game. He thought as children, they were unable to purchase the more expensive consoles for themselves.  So he made this for the SNES.

I'm wondering something here. If Mega Man & Bass is a direct port to the GBA, why not play the SNES version? I'd understand going for the GBA version if it was an enhanced port, but it doesn't feature any extra stages, bosses, or mechanics like many SNES-to-GBA ports.

It seems the only games to actually get enhanced for the GBA were the Mario, Donkey Kong, and Final Fantasy enhanced ports. :P

The Megaman games had allways had an odd link to music (well, in Japan that is). He is called Rock over there & there is the other robot Roll, (Rock & Roll), so I am certain that Bass is pronounced "base". Also, when ClementJ642 mentions that in Japan he is named Forte (pronounced "FOR" "TAY"), now if any of you guys study or know alot about music theory then you should know that Forte means loud. Guess that is quite an interesting fact for y'all!

As far as MM&B re-using the stuff from MM8, it was actually the other way around. Rockman & Forte came out long before MM8 did in the US, so it was actually MM8 that was the recycling.

@DarkT769 Not completely. Megaman's charged shot is more powerful than Bass' buster because only Bass' first bullet does damage. Also, since Megaman can slide into tight spots, he can collect special items Bass wouldnt be able to. So overall, its really all about preference.

Fire Man was weak to Ice but Blizzard Man was weak to Flame Man's weapon. While not really fire based robots Turbo and Sword had fire weapons that worked good on Freeze and Frost -though in both those cases you couldn't use them the first time. (Junk Shield works better on Freeze and Flash Bomb works equally well on Frost)

As for Burner Man the real trick is to use the wall to push him onto the spikes
