Did you know that Thomas Jefferson tried to censor newspapers that did not support his administration? Or that he argued that blacks were mentally inferior to whites?
How about that George Washington supported a stronger federal government proposed by Alexander Hamilton, which certainly expanded federal powers in the same way as FDR?
Or that John Adams signed into law the Sedition and Alien acts preventing anyone from criticizing the government and making immigrants illegal?

...saying you don't have some valid points, especially with the whole 7 years argument, but even then, many economic advisors claim that there's always lag between when policies get implemented and when they start taking effect. It's how many Repubs explain away the economy growing so well under Clinton. (IT WAS REAGAN WHO DID IT)
Every president in American history has made plenty of mistakes, and anyone can spin any of them to look like complete failures. It's just partisanism.

@Sonicisbadazz First of all, I'm not an elitist - I just think it's ridiculous that people who know nothing about any candidate in the election can go into a booth and vote for someone solely based on the color of their skin (over 97% of blacks voted for Obama, less than 50% of the rest of Americans voted for him). For people to vote, they should be at least somewhat educated on the choices. Search "obama's clueless supporters", first vid. Plenty like it...
Uneducated voters ruin nations.

Virtually everyone who says that is doing so from a biased perspective where they've convinced themselves that THEY understand how life works better than everyone else. Being smart isn't going to do much good if it's accompanied by closed-mindedness. "Clueless" is far too often colored by what the poller thinks.
Am I saying those people aren't stupid? No. But actively working to educate them instead of letting...TBC

And even if they ARE stupid, they still have morals that they live by You don't need smarts to think killing is wrong, or racism is wrong, or many other things are wrong (Moral values is what people identified as the deciding factor in the 2004 election.)
Given that blacks are a minority I'd say its highly unlikely less than 50% other americans voted for Obama

@Sonicisbadazz Clearly you didn't take my advice and do those searches. If you had, you would have seen people supporting the "Obama-Palin" ticket and criticizing "McCain-Biden". You would have seen them criticize the acts and statements made by Obama because they thought that McCain or Palin made them. In other words, you would have seen blind support for someone that they knew nothing about - see: "ignorant" in Webster's

I have some GUESSES, but that's all they are: guesses. And facts don't prove anything the way they used to either, especially statistics: all of them get dismissed as conducted by biased sources.

I don't need to know the circumstances under which Hitler was born to know that his actions were cruel and unforgivable. Being ignorant of smarts is not the same as being ignorant of morals.

@swburton316 Dude, I'm watching one of those vids right now, and I can already see a hundred potential ways it could have been manipulated. So it's not concrete proof of anything. NOTHING is anymore.
And as I already said, ignorance doesn't make you wrong; it just makes you ignorant. I'm not overly familiar with what's going on in Congress right now, or what Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, or any others stand for. That doesn't make me an idiot; it makes me a person with a life outside of politics.

@Sonicisbadazz Well try this on for size...during the election, ABC news reporters walked the streets asking randoms questions about whether they supported "Obama/Pelosi" or "McCain/Biden" and many people didn't catch the mistake. Of those that responded "Obama/Pelosi", the anchor asked if the person was OK with Pelosi being VP, and why they thought so. Many proceded to make fools of themselves on national news by making garbage up saying "oh yea, HE'S great", etc etc etc

I'm not saying these things HAVE been manipulated; I honestly have no idea. What I'm saying is that you're presenting these things as absolute proof that Obama supporters are idiots, but it's NOT clear and unmistakeable proof of anything. And if it's not clear and unmistakeable--and NOTHING in this world is anymore--it's open to interpretation and possible error.

It's amazing to me that a party that proclaims the economy should be left alone because the American people should be allowed to spend their money as they please and let the market decide--presumably because they know how to spend their own money better than the government does--see absolutely no hypocrisy in flipping the lid and proclaiming the majority of voters to be stupid when they vote for a candidate that isn't conservative

@Warblade118 That may be true. I can acknowledge that possibility. However, it's also a CONVENIENT possibility for the conservative side of the political spectrum. It allows them to dismiss everything that has happened in the last few decades under conservatives on the idea that they actually WEREN'T conservative but just liberals in disguise. It's also very convenient because Republicans controlled our Congress from about 1994 to 2006, and that INCLUDED some extremists like Newt Gingrich.

If they list themselves as Republicans and are led by a man like Newt Gingrich-who was openly critical of President Clinton and has been openly critical of Barack Obama on many conservative grounds-Id say there's a safe bet that conservatives were running things Not a guarantee

i don't know how savage gets away with this. so does someone who supports state schooling (a socialist policy) become similar to hitler? it's ridiculous. hitler WAS a facist. socialism was created with good intentions so someone can only be defined as socialist if they act in what they believe to be in the interest of the people. i don't support socialism because i believe more in the greed of people rather than the good, but don't call someone evil for doing the reverse.

@scottishlad1987 Hold on. I don't think Savage said he was evil. I think he was just saying that his policies were a brand of Socialism. Whether that's true or not is probably not something I'm qualified to say, but comparing his economic policies to those of Nazis and the Communists in Russia doesn't necessarily mean he thinks FDR was evil. If he really wanted to suggest that, he'd be better off drawing comparisons between the Holocaust and the Japanese prison camps that were here in the US.

He tried to pack the court in 1937, passed the New Deal which prolonged the Great Depression by almost a decade, openly ADMIRED Mussolini and abused our Constitution more than any other President besides Wilson. Challenge me if you think I'm lying.
And if he was SO LOVED, why the hell were Presidential term limits put in the Constitution immediately following his Presidency?

Maybe for the same reason the Senate in Rome killed Caesar despite being incredibly loved by his people: he was getting too powerful and they wanted it--allegedly--to stay a Republic. Funny thing is, shortly after that, the Republic collapsed, probably due in no small part to the possible TRUE motives of Caesar's assassination: the Senate wanted the power for itself.

There's one constant thing I've noticed about self-described liberals. They cannot answer a basic yes or no question when it's posed to them. They tip-toe around it or answer with a question. Unless the question is " Isn't Obama great?", they won't answer it. It's like arguing with a 5 year old. This is why I don't even try to argue with one anymore because they'll never get how moronic they sound, even when they are faced with fact.
