Hellings conceded to being perplexed by the theory in his younger years, and suggested that for a time, the Prophet's views weren't as compatible with science as they had previously been.
Among seminars being offered are sessions on "Family Home Evening." Those seminars will explain what Mormon families do during a typical Monday evening, when members are encouraged to commit to being home and doing activities with their own family.
Sariah, who is in charge of planning her family's Home Evenings in rotation with her parents and siblings, used her recent Home Night to practice the drill that sends her brothers scurrying for their already-packed 72-hour packs
"It helped me overcome many challenges with my hearing loss," Luke said. "My passion is to inspire others with the power of positive thinking. Through my example of always having a positive attitude, I know I can greatly influence or change a life of another."
"I really look forward to showing other young deaf girls how to be positive and just love themselves for who they are," she said.
Luke is a graduate of Pine View High School, the oldest of five siblings and a member of the Desert Hills Ward in St. George. The church has strongly influenced her decisions and outlook, she said.
Luke is pretty excited -- and not just because she won a $2,000 scholarship.
"I wanted to join in only because it would open so many doors for me, and it's a life experience," she said. "Also it would help me to get closer to my goal which is go to nursing school. ... I have always had a passion for kids and child care and medical inquiries."
As a spokesperson for the deaf community, Luke believes she can more effectively share her message of hope.
The 19-year-old competed last month in Riverton, Utah, winning not only the crown, but "Miss Photogenic" and "Best Evening Gown" recognition. Next year in July 2010, she'll be in Philadelphia to compete for Miss Deaf America.

Joseph Smith allegedly received the gold Nephi plates (the book of Mormon) from the angel Moroni. Even if the so called angel, "Moroni", really did appear to Joseph Smith, he is still accursed because the gospel of the Book of Mormon is very different from the gospel of the Bible. Since the Book of Mormon does not conform to the standard of the Bible, it is NOT Christian, but condemned being a new and false gospel. The Mormon religion is straight out of the pits of Hell.

Upon recognizing our weaknesses, we have several courses that we can take. One might be to retire into a shell because we feel that we are not as good as others. The Salmans are now renting a home next to the Hayes home in Kuna, Idaho. Although the family members no longer fear for their lives, they still face many challenges. Leaving Iraq and settling in English-speaking western Idaho has been a huge culture shock. There are not many Iraqis or Muslims in Kuna. There have been a few misunderstandings along the way.

"I was getting home late and was unable to take care of some of the basic home needs including mowing my lawn that was getting quite tall. As I arrived home on the day we were planning on delivering the cookies, the kitchen was busy with all four of my children and my wife baking. Upon completion, we delivered the goodies to all 10 families, which took two hours as we had short visits with each neighbor. We had a great time.
