  • @rk097 Yup they are chickpeas. But these don't have the outer skin layer.

  • h0tchapati, thank u much!! I made this yesterday anyway, but I used multi-purpose flour instead. It worked although it turned out a little hard. Will find besan flour and make this again. It's just so good and easy to make! THanks again!

  • What flour was that he used as a binding agent? Can't quite catch his word. I'm not Indian, but this has been my favorite since childhood =)

  • Besan, it is slightly yellow in color and you can find it at an Indian grocery store. Also known as chickpea flour.

  • You can add some soaked sabbakki/sabudana for this. Dont add it while grinding but add it later on while mixing. It comes out very well. Never heard of adding cinnamon. Can you show karnataka specialty maddur vada. Its a great tasting recipe.

  • hi sanjay.. i tried ur masala vada.. it tasted very good.. really awesome, but i tried once with ginger garlic paste really it was tasting too good.. y cant u try that once.. hope u too love it.. and am following ur receipes they taste really good u know especially biryani's.. i learnt many receipes from u.. thank u..

  • Have a question since long..,wat do v do vth the left over oil after deep frying..? can v reuse them or is it just a waste..?

    Please answer me vahchef as v really need a lot of oil for kebabs and frying other stuffs..

  • @M4037331 Try with coconut chutney, do a search and vah chef's recipe will be the first video. If you can make both masala vada and coconut chutney using vah chef's recipes, it will be a flavor explosion.

    With regard to masala vada I add ginger and fennel seeds while grinding. Try it, taste good as well.

  • I´ve been waiting for this recipe for a life time. My mum used to make this every now and again for tea in an Indian home in Malaysia. We would wake from an afternoon nap after school to hot tea and vada. Thank you.

  • @vahchef Excellent recipe! tried it many times. tried it with Fennel seeds and it definitely tastes better with Fennel than Cinnamon....

  • hey... you didn't add curry leaves! They add an excellent flavour to the vadai
