Packs of cayotes roam through the neighborhood from time to time and they eat kitties. When a sign is posted for a missing animal in this neighborhood it's never found.

Also, some people don't appreciate other people's pets coming into their yard to defecate and kill wildlife, as my cat does when she's outside quite frequently. It's a courtesy to your neighbors to keep your pets, no matter the species, on your own property.

I do agree with being courteous to your neighbors, we had a cat that we were able to teach to stay within a certain radius of the house and was only allowed out at certain times of the day. Then again the neighbors loved our cat, she always came home full because she'd be fed gourmet food by the neighbors. So yes, to an extent I understand. I just felt this video was on the extreme.

Hey doug its Hank.. I think the pvc is good but cats are natural climbes on almost any surface.. Have you heard of the cooking spray pam?? It repells water and is clear and very Slippery.. spray that on the pvc pipe and let me know how it works.. I think that kitty will have a reality shock when he slided on that.. other thing you can do is make a mote.. Cats hate water and if you put a long wide tray around it, it may deter him from crossing.. Good luck!!!!

i believe the only reason your cat made it over was because of that small ledge you left uncovered by pvc pipe. if you left the ledge on the outside uncovered it would let the cat back in if your fence failed, however if you covered the small ledge you left with one of your smaller pvc pipe pieces, i think it would complete the your kitty proof fence

@MrGigs94 Yes, he actually opens doors. Many years ago I locked him in the pantry so I could fix a tuna fish sandwich without him staring at me. Within a minute he had opened the door and came walking out. He's been opening doors ever since. We had to change the knob on one door that leads outside because he would just let himself out.
@miltond8 No training is necessary. We had to change the handle on the door leading into the garage because he would let himself out. I first noticed this skill when I locked him in the pantry so I could fix tuna salad. That worked for about 10 seconds. He is very smart.
My husband just got done building an enclosed kitty sun porch which led to an outdoor enclosure via a tunnel. The top of the fence had corrugated drainpipe to keep the cats from escaping (if interested see my videos).
For a few days it was great watching our 3 cats play and enjoy the great outdoors until Molly aka Heliumcat surprised us by climbing the fence and walking the entire perimeter like a tightrope! So now we begin again. Thanks for the laughs!

You were on the right track with the PVC Pipe. Try extending the pipes over the inside of fence slightly and make them roll towards the inside perimeter only. Would require brackets, wood caps glued on inside of pipe ends, sealed bearings in center of caps, and pins on the brackets. Would also require support brackets with rollers in the middle of pipes to eliminate sag.

I feel you dude, We have poeple in our complex who dont like cats, And I have three of them, But cats are meant to roam, its in their nature. I wish I could keep my cats inside in some way or another - but we are not allowed to build extras in or on our walls, Complex rules.
I do however bring my cats indoors at night, They have been doing that since kitten stage - so they are used to it. When i bring them in they curl up and go to sleep for the night.

My cat, when she was a smaller kitten, would come in the bedroom in the middle of the night and try to play. Anything I would put up she would either make it fall or she would get around or over it somehow. They are very very clever.

You want to keep them cats from jumping to the other side? Put a 100+ pound Rottweiler on the other side of the fence!! With that "Vicious Dog" on the other side, Ther's no way in Hell that they will want to leap to the other side!!

I feel you dude, We have poeple in our complex who dont like cats, And I have three of them, But cats are meant to roam, its in their nature. I wish I could keep my cats inside in some way or another - but we are not allowed to build extras in or on our walls, Complex rules.
I do however bring my cats indoors at night, They have been doing that since kitten stage - so they are used to it. When i bring them in they curl up and go to sleep for the night.

My cat, when she was a smaller kitten, would come in the bedroom in the middle of the night and try to play. Anything I would put up she would either make it fall or she would get around or over it somehow. They are very very clever.
