I have been a police officer for 33 years, 8 years as a Sheriff and currently a Marshal. Most of the police officers I have worked with and known would lay down their lives to save yours if necessary. It is too bad that you have formed such a negative opinion of ALL police officers.

I've been a long time subscriber to this. But I'm very insulted at the fact that police officers are ALWAYS portrayed as bad people. My grandfathers and my father have been LEOs for years and they have help anyone that needs it. I plan to follow that mentality through my dying day. So it's ill-informed people that keep these negative connotions and blame the cops for their mistakes. So when people make comments like these I always scoff them off and blame their own lack of intelligence.

The only cops that say cops are "good" are the bad ones. And that's the vast majority of them. I know plenty of cops. My FATHER was a cop too. And the cops that I've known say that it's hard to find one good cop in a hundred. If your dad says different then he might just be a crooked cop and good at hiding it.

Come to Finland, barely any cop is a bad cop. They're professional and as polite as they can be and still maintain credibility. As for corruption, all of Fennoscandia are the least corrupt countries in the world.

And more about the police in Finland. I fell on my 50cc Derbi last fall and a police car happened to be about 500m behind me. They checked if I was drunk, if the bike was mine, and after they saw it was purely an accident they helped me with the wounds and we had a little laugh :)

Working in the field it is hard to hear how people from other countries think all cops are. I work with a great group of men and women that do the job because that care for others more then they care for themselves. Not many people are welling lay down there lives for others, and run into situations that others are running out of. It is like the bikers of old made all motorcyclist into criminals. It was really on 1% of the riding community. Love the vids, just remember cops are people too.

Feel as if I should say... America really isn't that bad. Lots of hating and raging going on here but something you are forgetting is where in the US you live. But overall it's not bad. I think many police officers are now being phased out with new different minds. A cop once told me that back when he first got on the force the only people who wanted to be cops were those who wanted to beat somebody up. But the times have changed dramatically.
I liked all your videos up till now- I really don't find the way you laid into the hard working & honorable men and women of Americas law enforcement agencies at all amusing. I am well aware of the problems that we have with some officers here in the U.S., but there are far worse individuals working to "protect" in other countries. You don't live in the U.S. so you only see what the drama filled media shows you- you don't get to see the dedication, hard work and sacrifice they give us.
I wish you and your family the best of luck M13, I hope that you stay together and find a way to manage with your wife even if it's only for your sons well being. My parents split up at an early age and to say it didn't affect me in a big way would be a lie.

@13mordeth 3 witnesses came forward saying the cop was in the wrong and Hitchcocks attorney pulled his service record and he had 2 or 3 other accidents that was his fault. The day of the trial the county attorney dropped the charges.
I'd say that incident with the cop was an accident. While yes, the cop was in the wrong for being sleep deprived and tailgating (enough stupidity for him to not be a cop), the incident itself was understandable. Manslaughter charge, understandable. Stupid, but understandable. It's all about perspective.
I remember studying psychological profiles of police officers in college. It was not very flattering, as many beat their wives and tend to loners. Most only hang with other cops. The big city cops here in the States tend to be hardened as they deal with low life's every day. The cops in Phoenix are always being busted for something or other. The cops out here in the hinterland, not so much.

@gunmonkey2bxi I had two Taiwan cops stop me recently while I was walking my dogs at 1am. They kept asking me what I was doing out late at night. And I kept answering rudely "Walking" and giving them dirty looks. (If they had asked me politely in the first place I would have answered politely....but they didn't) My dogs weren't on leashes so they didn't notice them. But I never pointed them out I just said "walking" about 3 times....and then they rode off.
you know what's really weird. I actually live very close to where that crash happened. I drove past it and there were about 10 cop cars that all showed up to show their superiority and power, even though the guy did nothing wrong at all.

It could be possible that the driver meant to "brake check" the cop, but once the cop hit him, he panicked because he knew he was fucked.
@mpp101 that happens to me regularly on my scooter in London. What I do is overtake and shake my head, thinking "what a plonker!". Because I don't ride so close behind that I can't brake or avoid or both, even if the guy slams the brakes. I've had to do it even for things like lambos (rich arabs driving them usually).
Plus i read a little about this story. The driver of the car is an idiot. Take all biases aside and just think about it. The cop recieves TONS of training for riding a motorcycle (trust me, i have seen their course) so he is a good rider, no doubt about that. He is expecting the vehicle in front to slow down. That driver had to have completely SLAMMED the breaks on, like tire screeching slam to cause the cop to hit him. I'm not saying the driver meant to hurt the cop, but he is a dumbass.

It is part of the Driver's Manual how you are supposed to react to emergency vehicles. Slamming on your brakes is not one of them. I saw the link and the pictures. The way you made it sound was that the cop got up and began to lock the driver up. But the picture clearly shows that the cop was hurt and not getting up. It is obvious the wrath the driver felt was from the sympathizers from his police station and the state's attorney's office. Reason why people should be scared to hurt cops.

Feel as if I should say... America really isn't that bad. Lots of hating and raging going on here but something you are forgetting is where in the US you live. But overall it's not bad. I think many police officers are now being phased out with new different minds. A cop once told me that back when he first got on the force the only people who wanted to be cops were those who wanted to beat somebody up. But the times have changed dramatically.

I am well aware of the problems that we have with some officers here in the U.S., but there are far worse individuals working to "protect" in other countries. While yes, the cop was in the wrong for being sleep deprived and tailgating (enough stupidity for him to not be a cop), the incident itself was understandable. Manslaughter charge, understandable. Stupid, but understandable. It's all about perspective.

I remember studying psychological profiles of police officers in college. It was not very flattering, as many beat their wives and tend to loners. Most only hang with other cops. The big city cops here in the States tend to be hardened as they deal with low life's every day. The cops in Phoenix are always being busted for something or other. The cops out here in the hinterland, not so much.

You would get up and be like "Haha! Good times, friend! Have a nice night!" No, i highly doubt you would. Plus you have too much of a bias against cops. It could be possible that the driver meant to "brake check" the cop, but once the cop hit him, he panicked because he knew he was fucked.

Plus i read a little about this story. The driver of the car is an idiot. Take all biases aside and just think about it. The cop recieves TONS of training for riding a motorcycle (trust me, i have seen their course) so he is a good rider, no doubt about that. He is expecting the vehicle in front to slow down. That driver had to have completely SLAMMED the breaks on, like tire screeching slam to cause the cop to hit him. I'm not saying the driver meant to hurt the cop, but he is a dumbass.

It is part of the Driver's Manual how you are supposed to react to emergency vehicles. Slamming on your brakes is not one of them. I saw the link and the pictures. The way you made it sound was that the cop got up and began to lock the driver up. But the picture clearly shows that the cop was hurt and not getting up. It is obvious the wrath the driver felt was from the sympathizers from his police station and the state's attorney's office. Reason why people should be scared to hurt cops.
