  • you put in the description that alex set the 32 hour and 7 minutes, what he actually did was do 31 hours and 4 minutes. The 32 hours and 7 minutes was set about 20-30 years earlier

  • I hope you know you have already ruined your future run by posting that you are even going to attempt at the record. Oh and you have no chance if you don't even know the damn time to beat. Alex Roy set 31hours 4mintues, in a car that would run circles around a little z4m. You have no idea what you are attempting and or getting yourself into. If your really serious about this your going to want to do A LOT more research in order to even come close to not getting caught, let alone bet the record.

  • You sir are a mook. Any car with an extra fuel cell that can average 92 miles per hour will be able beat Alex Roy's record. My fucking 99 Altima could beat that record with the proper equipment and co-pilot.

  • I am not saying it can't be done. sure a shitty car could do it 2 but it is easer said than done to maintain an average speed of over 90 mph. thats pretty hard. If you drop to 50mph for even 10 mins you would have to go 130 for 10 more mins just to equal the average back out. and according to Alex the M5 won't even get 18.5mpg at anything over 127mph. So it would be even harder for crapper car to make the time back up considering it probably would empty its whole tank in 10mins at that speed

  • Z4m gets around 20.2mpg at a steady 130mph on flat ground. Don't ask me how I know :) This video has caused me more problems in the last year and is why I havent posted anything further about it since that point.

  • that is impressive furl economy, nice! Are you the man that wants to attempt this record or did you just find the video? If you are the one, go for it and don't look back, just know what you are getting your self into, and be aware that the cops are probably keeping tabs on you.

  • eyepatch, why do you even bother responding? This video is fake to anyone but the dumbest of retards. --- Anyone want proof? Look at the virtual Valentine V1 display. When ANY alert is given on a V1, it shows 4 things at the same time; number of signals, direction of signals, signal band and signal strength. Here the virtual display only shows signal strength and direction, while showing a '0' for the signal counter. V1's NEVER show a reading like this.

    I can honestly say that i would not want to ride in a z4m for anything over about 8 hours..much less 20-30 hrs...

  • if you were serious about this you would have got the e46 m3 for several reasons: 1. Z4 cars are not GTs the suspensions are extremely stiff and jarring. 2. They weigh close to the same as the e46 M3 and have less usable space for fuel cell and other equipment. 3. Wheels tend to follow curvature of roads meaning it's highly less predictable and more prone to accidents at 100+mph. This car is too scary at 100+ speeds, and you will surely kill yourself. Please do more research into what Roy did.

  • Wow, so much stupid in one comment. I've owned all of the cars you've mentioned, including the Z4M now. You could not be more wrong about anything. The Z4M is rock solid, is quite a bit faster around the Ring (you know what that is right?) than the E46 M3.

    Go back to magazine racing kiddie, stop misinforming people with your dribble.

  • Sure the Z4M is more suited for a track than a M3 but the trip isn't goning te be on a track. Look like 99% straight ahead and some curves to me.

  • Stefan, I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to that Einstein Marcus1701 down there claiming the Z4M is "Scary at 100+ speeds". This is such a ridiculously stupid claim I don't even know where to begin. It's obviously from somebody who has never driven any of these cars, and has no idea wtf he is talking about.

    Unfortunatly i only had a passenger ride in a z4m but u are right.

    Remains the fact that i think that u dont need that extra edge which a z4m gives in comparison with a m3 for this kind of yourney.

  • Even if this *is* real, I doubt you could easily brake the record. Even if you do copy all the preparations Alex has done prior to departure, you will end up relying too much on this *one* thing. If it fails, you're done. Ask Alex for help and guidance, it will do you good! Good luck and drive safe.

  • Just to state what everyone but Mr Eyepatchentertainment knows; the record is 31:04! Not 32:07.

  • Look at 1:40. The V1 virtual display has a front radar arrow and 4 lights on the strength meter, yet it shows '0' on the bogey counter and gives no radar band identification.  Proof that it's fake. But I think everyone already knew that.

  • goto mp3cardotcom and see that a V1 virtual display has already been done and is touchscreen friedly :D

  • Everyone and their mother knows about the V1 virtual display. That still doesn't explain why your still image only shows half the information a normal Valentine 1 does.

  • Well I know for a fact that the V1 computer display is possible as I am good friends with the guy that developed the software for the V1 display to work on a laptop and CarPC.

    He is very unprepared over all with no antenna's, no CB radio, no laser jammers...I don't understand why Talking on the police band would help. Besides not all police use 2 meter radio's

  • He has laser jammers too. And if you listen closely, he says the 2m radio is MODIFIED to transmit on the police bands (easy trick). It's not for talking. It's for jamming their transmissions. Very useful in many locations, as most state and county police nationwide still use VHF.

  • Alex, You are the man. I loved your book and cant wait for the movie. That said, don't you think its better to have the controls in a distinct place where you can train yourself to hit them instinctively rather than having someone take their eyes of the road to search for a button on a touch screen(like control the rearlights stitch without taking your eyes of the road).

  • Also, the copilot needs to keep his eyes on the road too. Lastly, I suck typing on I phones/gps... what if you want to mute the RD and you kill the rear lights and a cop sees it or something similar? I know its a very clean install, but you don't see fighter planes with a 6 inch touch screen in them to control everything. Its too much in one place... also if that device fails, what happens to all your countermeasures?

  • Completely worthless. How can you monitor audio from several sources (scanners, V1, CB radio) through one tablet PC? You can't. Its very obvious. No radio antennas, no GPS antennas. Says there are 3 GPS systems... Need 3 GPS antennas. Redundancy is key??? LOL Where is your redundant Tablet PC toy??

  • I have more than one PC. All connections are through Serial connections. Its very simple to control devices with Serial connections. (How can you monitor audio from several sources (scanners, V1, CB radio) through one tablet PC?) Not that difficult. Everything that is in this video can probably be integrated into the MKIV navigation system at some point. Right now it is on a windows based PC. But there will be at least 2 UMPCs in the car... operated by the Co-pilot

  • I said "monitor the audio". How are you monitoring the audio? You can't listen to 3+ audio sources at the same time through one PC. Whatever. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

  • you can listen to multiple sources with a multi input usb soundcard.

  • This is wrong in so many ways. Nice little toy, but that is it. Also it is a waste of time because it is not practical at all. Too much information in too small of a space. And a touch screen? Sounds safe to be using at 150mph, looking down to push tiny buttons on a brightly lit screen in the middle of the night.

  • Why would the driver be using this on the drive? that is the job of a co-pilot.

  • meh, taking everything and putting it all into a touch screen computer seems a bit useless 2 me a big waste of time...insted, u should trying out how ull actually cope with the long drive...only nice feature that I saw was the Hide/evade buttons...if u get a fuel cell, then this car can def. break the record...like others have stated: antennas? jammers? Where are the scanners at?...nice gadget, but i still dont think itll save u time...

  • Fuel Cell will be added, and is just a simple additional calculation to be added (increasing total fuel capacity)

    My Volvo is better prepared then this car is at defeating Alex Roy's record

  • Look at the videos I already have. The key to being successful in this run is to not let anyone know you are attempting it. And all I have that makes my car better is a CB radio, 2 police scanners, front and rear laser jammers. in my past 400mile trips I average 80 and thats with out a fuel cell any faster and I would have to stop for fuel

  • ok. I'm the first skeptic. But I'll wait to see it actually doing anything other than displaying a still graphic screen before I make any further comments.

  • yes, this is very cool, but being a fan of alex roy, i have a few criticisms. First, does the car have a fuel cell? Secondly, I didnt hear any talk about blinder laser jammers. Third - no night vision. Fourth - speed chip? its a good start but you still have a ways to go before even attempting to break it

  • make a good point about night vision. I have a very cool solution to that. Involves the Nav screen, IR lights and a camera on front bumper.
