Is there really a comparison? Nuke is marketed for a high end professional market doing projects with heavy VFX and the need for custom scripts. After Effects is great tool for free-lancers and people who aren't trying to make the next Avatar.

You can't compare After effects and Nuke..After effects is for compositing and motion design,..Nuke is just for compositing..

@komaMM wrong.. nuke is also for much more then only compositing.. after effects is a great 2d animation composting tool but nuke is much bigger also after effects does't work that well with 3d animation scene's and nuke is made also for 3d animation.. also after effects works with layers nuke with powerfull nodes and this is much faster, and easyier to work with.. it's the same like Maya vs Blender ;).. Maya is the big tool and Blender is good enough for little things.. same way with AE,

@DeMilleCentral you usually work with image sequences in nuke so basically you don't need to import any video... but you can import some video formats on nuke if you want just using read node (search on the nuke's manual for supported video formats)

AE is for babies. But the eyeon Fusion 6.1 with the shaders and the new particle system is the the hotness.

Nuke kills AE but I wonder how CS5 will stack up.
