The facts:there were small demonstrations on the KS campus, but no riots.Those were in town.Classes were in session,none were cancelled.The Guardsmen had already been on riot control duty elsewhere for 12 to 16 hrs w/o a break b4 being trucked to KS.It was a warm day,they were in full field uniform w/gas masks on.The shooting occurred when classes let out creating a sudden influx of thousands of students onto the quad.At least 1 of those killed was an ROTC officer exiting a classroom.

The facts: These "protestors" broke store widows, and set fire to the ROTC building. When firemen (who are unarmed) the "protestors" thew rocks and other objects @ them. They then proceeded to cut the firemen's hoses in order to keep them from putting out the fire. These are people attending college, yet they behaved like a bunch of animals.

The facts:there were small demonstrations on the KS campus, but no riots.Those were in town.Classes were in session,none were cancelled.The Guardsmen had already been on riot control duty elsewhere for 12 to 16 hrs w/o a break b4 being trucked to KS.It was a warm day,they were in full field uniform w/gas masks on.The shooting occurred when classes let out creating a sudden influx of thousands of students onto the quad.At least 1 of those killed was an ROTC officer exiting a classroom.

It was the the fascist idea that "he who is not with us is against us." Who the hell sent National Guard troops to deal with a civil disturbance? With live ammo? What were they thinking? Soldiers are trained to deal with the enemies of the state, not the citizens of the republic protesting.

@mikethebassguy Shooting unarmed civilians was bad enough, but who made the decision to send armed troops onto a college campus! My god, my god, how can you not see this. These are all human beings and it takes training to do the kind of job - anger at a flashpoint, and they send armed soldiers, for crowd control! Cops have a hard enough time with this, and they get training in crowd control. Protesters are not the enemy of the state, they are part of the body politic.

However once it goes violent (trouble makers) and they were WARNED to disperse and go home, and DID NOT, they fired tear gas, so the students decide to throw rocks ad anything they can back. That makes it an engagement, so in the long run your telling me that the national guard shoulda made it fair and just had a rock fight? Continued...

Whether its a .308 or a .22 what it comes down to is who is the better shooter (not just accuracy but keeping their composure etc) I wouldnt ever want to have to shoot someone but if some one assaults me and i feel my safety is at risk i would not hesitate.

The facts: These "protestors" broke store widows, and set fire to the ROTC building. When firemen (who are unarmed) the "protestors" thew rocks and other objects @ them. They then proceeded to cut the firemen's hoses in order to keep them from putting out the fire. These are people attending college, yet they behaved like a bunch of animals.

@teamvizsla The perpetrators of this crime should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent and sentenced to at least life in prison (perhaps after front-line duty in Vietnam). A group of cowards fire into unarmed civilians, some of whom were not even involved in the protest, and they get away with it. People have been executed for less than this. If this happened in Iran or Russia, everyone would be aghast. Yet, even at the time, there was little reaction. America's shame!

If you would actually do some research, you will find that the guardsmen were ACQUITTED in BOTH criminal AND CIVAL court! So who are you blaming? We say we fight for freedoms but yet this happened and is never recalled what OUR government wasw willing to do when the American people was not doing their will. Will we see this again? I lived through the 50and 60 and 70 when our country saw some horrible days in protest and uprisings. Was social justice accomplished through all the spilled blood? Was it worth this price?
