All I'm saying is great singers like them are awarded vocal issues, without being slandered, because they don't happen alot. Every singer goes off tune? True, but when it happens rarely, it's fine. Whitney goes out of tune in some spots. She has a great sense of pitch. On the other hand Jennifer has an uneven mixing and vibrato, which do cause her voice to be thin.

Beyonce never screams her high belts. They're short above F#5, but they're still sung and FAR more resonant than Jennifer's will ever be. Jennifer's strained high belts, more or less sustained, are thin and WAY screamier than Beyonce's. Beyonce controls them and knows her instrument. Jennifer doesn't.

Jennifer can go high because her voice has a naturally high placement. It's not a matter of skill.

I think it sounds more of an opinion, if you look closely at ANY of Jennifer's performances you can see her diaphragm is supporting her sound, no matter what that might be. Some singers just have a thin tone to their higher register, Aretha Franklin did and plenty other singers do

Aretha's emission is way too resonant to be strained, and her raspiness is due to her tone, which is naturally raspy. Plus, Aretha's emission is always raspy. On the other hand, Jennifer's emission is loud (which doesn't mean powerful), but thin. It gets thinner and thinner as she ascends in pitch. Her larynx is very unstable. Aretha has a correct vocal placement on the high belts. Jennifer not so much.

I know those songs. The high notes are clearly uncontrolled. The vibrato is uneven, it's wobbly. The emission is throaty, it doesn't resonate, so she's singing with a raised larynx, which is a big indicator of wrong placement and strain.

Uncontrolled would mean the notes would be everywhere, they would be flat, her voice would not have lasted long without technique. The vibrato is spread throughout the note evenly and accordingly.

She has great power throughout her range, her technique is great, but she has not the same ease as someone who mixes (ex. Anastacia) to access the upper belt, because mixing is practically the best technique to belt that high. But you should be able to mix decently. Jennifer's mixing is not balanced, her abuse of chest tones heightens her larynx.

@Stefano94x Listen to Chaka Khan. I'm Every Woman...Never Miss the Water, One for All Time etc. in songs like this Chaka belts notes out through her mask. Any they sometimes come out wobbly etc. Lowering the larynx I find is harder than it sounds, it requires opening the soft pallet (spelling?) at the back of the throat, and a visual in your mind of something lowering itself as you sing higher. Think it takes a LOT of experience, practise and professional training to master these

But the difference between Chaka and Jennifer is that Chaka's singing is generally good, Jennifer's isn't. I know lowering your larynx requires practice, but you should know how to do it if you always space in the G5-A5 area like Jennifer does, otherwise you'll ruin your voice.

A lot of singers use this when belting, hell I do when I get into mixed register. Chaka Khan is known for doing this, and it generally creates a thin tone to the song. I do agree Jennifer needs some more control, but I find her voice is getting better. Who knows. Aretha seems to LOVE her voice though. Speaks for itself
