how about we cut the arguement and just worship jesus and watch one of the greatest worship leaders ever rock out to his song!!! J.D. your a boss but jesus is a KING!!!!
@ausGeoff1 How do you not know that Hillsong is not doing this to make money for charity? There was this conference called Passion 2012. They were trying to abolish modern day slavery. Please if there are any sort of websites/sources of any kind that are NOT biased, please message me them.
@ausGeoff1 incredible, truly incredible. Even though I am very young, I still try to read the bible. I respect the fact of you being an athiest. I know athiests study the bible A LOT harder than most Christians do, that's why they make their judgement correct? Please remember that there are people listening to you. I've never seen anything from an athiest's perspective. I've learned a lot from reading your comments. For that I thank you a little bit. Please explain why you say that this is evil.
I love Jesus, I love Hillsong, and I love this song. Funny how people can get so nitpicky over someone else's music. If you don't like it don't listen to it. It's that simple. There is no such thing as "evil music", only evil lyrics, and quite frankly, these lyrics are far from being evil. God is using Hillsong, he's used them in my life, he's used them to help my mom who has sturggled a lot in her life. I thank God so so so much for Hillsong and what they are doing.
Could you please clarify what you mean when you say god "helped" your mom?
Specifically, in what tangible ways? Do you have any empirical evidence other than simply unfounded suppositions that he (allegedly) intervened in any PRACTICAL way?
@ausGeoff1 Your question doesn't really dignify a response but I will respond anyway.
My mom has struggled A LOT in her life, ever since she was little she has been battling one health problem after the other. Recently, she has struggled with a disease called Polymyositis, look it up in Wikipedia. Most of her time is spent in her room, listening and watching Hillsong has helped her to focus on God rather then her circumstances. Praising him for WHO He is and NOT for what she can get from him.
Firstly, I apologise if I've offended you; that wasn't my intent. And I sincerely hope that your mom is finding peace and some solace to ease her pain.
My point was meant to be more generalised, for example that people should really be respectful of the efforts by - and thankful for - the the medical professionals who treat us and (attempt to) relieve our pain and suffering.
It's improbable to believe that some supernatural entity is intervening,
@ausGeoff1 Oh, it's fine :) Thank you for apologizing!
My mother and my whole family are really thankful for all the doctors have done for her. She is getting treatment and has been for about a year now, I think without the treatment she wouldn't be alive right now. But we have to remember that God was the one who gifted the doctors with wisdom and that it's only by his grace that we live in a country that has been so blessed and that she is able to get treatment! Anyway have a blessed day :)
It's bemusing that the Christians posting here are apparently afraid of ANY negative criticisms of their religion (even from fellow believers!) as Pearl's comments have been deleted due to too many negative votes.
— "So noisy and worldly...the music is overpowering the lyrics and the meaning of the song, I think God is not glorified with it anymore...rock songs are not for God. I'm so sorry but this kind of song should not be singing inside the church."
I wonder what was so insuficient about simply worship, that brought about this trip Hillsong is on?! It's so hard to watch their hyperfast paced videos, I've no idea what they sing unless they subtitle. Instead of a presence of God experience, and afraid of being landed with epileptic fit. They only thing I can think about is the might dollar. They gotta look commercial..and commercial they look..:-((
— "They only thing I can think about is the mighty dollar. They gotta look commercial."
Hillsong's entire modus operandi is to make money... and LOTS of it. And these songs are but one of the tricks that this cult utilises to do that.
Aussies just want them to go away, and refrain from leeching on our society. Hillsong sucks up millions of dollars from gullible dupes every year, and which goes straight into the organisers' wallets.
It's bemusing that the Christians posting here are apparently afraid of ANY negative criticisms of their religion (even from fellow believers!) as Pearl's comments have been deleted due to too many negative votes.

I'm STILL awaiting for a response from Christians explaining this, from Exodus, Chapter 32:
"This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbour.' "
Instead of explaining this "thou shall not kill" anomaly, the Christians have now chosen to mark my comments as spam.
How sad that they can't even defend their own beliefs. Tsk tsk.
@ausGeoff1 Tsk tsk taking a verse out of context. This was after the Golden Calf fiasco when after God set the Israelites free from the slavery and killing of their young to prevent revolt, and after He provided for them water and food in the desert, they decided that they didn't need God anymore and decided to make an inanimate golden calf to worship. EVEN AFTER THAT, God gave them another chance to follow Him, and they said no. So moral of story: Don't spit in God's face.
I haven't taken a verse (the Golden Calf fiasco) "out of context". It's written clearly for all to see that 3,000 innocents were killed.
So, is your god so vindictive that he effectively and literally kills any opponents of his plans?
What a vengeful, jealous, nasty god he'd have to be.
The proof that your god is truly weak is the simple fact that he hasn't smote me down, as I spit (figuratively) in his face every day of my life. Or rather I would if he existed.
Why is it that no Christian has chosen to answer the question I raised below....?
Moses in Exodus, Chapter 32: "Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbour."
I'm sorry, but it's impossible to "feel" any supernatural force "moving" through your body.
The only "forces" the human body experiences are those belonging in the scientific world, and not some illusory paranormal world. There's no logical reason at all for the need to believe in a god to experience pleasure - or pain. Every one of us experiences those things, but... I do so WITHOUT any need to rationalise it with a belief in an imaginary friend up in the sky!
I'm sorry, but you're totally missing the point: There are no "gods". And something that doesn't exist CANNOT save you in any shape or form. Nobody can be helped by some purely imaginary, supernatural entity. Over the course of several centuries, science has never once proved even the slightest possibility for the existence of paranormal or supernatural forces.
Exodus, Chapter 32: (Regarding the Golden Calf)...
Moses said to his henchmen, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbour.' "
The Levites did as Moses commanded, so on that day about THREE THOUSAND people died.
One minute we have god carving into stone, "Thou shalt not kill." Then we have god laying waste to thousands.
@ausGeoff1 you study a lot the Bible! thats so GOOD! i cant give u an answer here because i dont have so much space... But the answer is in the Bible, u just need to read it. read it all but not with an atheist mind. because in this way u'll never find the answer, read it to know more, to find THIS ANSWER! im sure u'll find it! i would like to talk to u but not in a discussion just to know more about your point of view it ll be pretty good... a conversation between an atheist and a Christian
Thanks Paola... Any TRUE atheist will have studied the bible in fairly great detail. That's one of the ways that we're so certain that the majority of its writings are bogus, either in factual content, or moral intent.
In fact, I'd be guessing that I've actually studied more of the bible - and over a longer time period - than many (so-called) Christians who only go to church once a week or at Easter and Christmas.
do not judge other people of how they will praise and worship God...who are to play god and judge them?have your own way of praising and worshiping God.the church is not a holy place...it is just a building...it just became a holy place because holy people of God gathered to praise and worship HIM...we are the church not the building.
If it WERE true that a church is "just" a building, then why do religionists build elaborate, architect-designed churches worth sometimes millions of dollars, and on prime real estate?
If the building's status is immaterial to the worship of your god (as you allege), why then is the congregation not able to meet in garages or warehouses or school halls, and better spend the money used to build massive church buildings on the poor and sick and downtrodden?
i do believe that we can worship God with rock but it all depends on the attitude. The people performing should be doing this, not for a show but to please God. the audience also shouldnt be praising the band [members] but God.
The audience aren't "praising" the band. You're taking that word far to literally. You're apparent definition of praise is limited to something like "a hymn of praise to God".
In a more general sense, "praise" means the act of expressing approval or admiration - as the audience does with any good group performance.
Why are you so upset that the audience are expressing their appreciation of this particular group's performance?
"I've wondered how people can attend their church services, which more closely resemble rock concerts, and not see they are primarily designed to bamboozle the senses.
And I've wondered how people can tithe 10 percent of their income to a church whose boss, Brian Houston, said last year raked in $50 million."
Hillsong is NOT about religion: It's about making money for its leaders. Please remember that when you watch this music video.
"I've wondered how much how much of the money they 'tithe' from their followers goes to 'charitable' projects like 'Mercy Ministries' and how much goes to bigger buildings, money making schemes like CD and TV sales around the world, and how much into senior pastors' pockets.
I've wondered how people can buy their steroid enhanced form of worship where talking in tongues, exorcising demons and going into trances of religious ecstasy are the norm."
@ausGeoff1 hillsong isn't a cult mate. I started going to that church almost 10yrs ago, I used to believe that but theyre all about helping people find Jesus. Any1 who is against that is a sick in the heart person coz God commands if we are his, we love our neighbours. We have MANY ministries reaching from giving gifts to homeless for chrissy, to building new homes for the devastated and we need funds!! U need to get your heart right with God before u can judge the heart of a passionate church.
You're obviously unaware that a part of any/all cult's purpose is to psychologically effect a radical change in the ideas and beliefs of a person, or "brainwash" them.
And - not surprisingly - people who've been brainwashed just don't realize it. particularly if it's been very subtle but insidious - as with the Hillsong cult.
I love my neighbours and acquaintances, and all my fellow citizens, and donate to several charities and relief funds.
Like most religionists, you refuse to accept that we atheists are just as humanitarian and philanthropic as anybody who believes their good will is being directed by some supernatural entity. Do you REALLY need a "god" to tell you to be a good person? Cannot you make that decision yourself? Do you not have any faith in your own innate sense of humanity?
If you can't make the decision to act humanely to people independently, then I can only feel sorry for you.
"Hillsong believes that homosexuality is not normal and not a part of God's design for mankind - their belief is that it should be fixed and it's something that can be removed from someone's life."
And:
"Hillsong Church's strict doctrines teach that homosexuality is an affliction that can be cured" according to a former member.
—How totally abhorrent is this? This is only one of the reasons why the Hillsong cult should be closely monitored by the authorities
I dont know about you, but I love Jesus and Hillsong is all about exalting Jesus. Disputes about rock and roll are ridiculous, and evidently, more people are coming to Jesus because of the music this church is making, so I'm not gonna come against the messae of salvation!!! Music was created by God, for God. The devil took it for his glory, but we as christians are taking it back!
@Hopiechick YEAH! that's right....we all know...today is different...all young people today are interested in all Jam Music so that's why Hillsong made that kind of music :)
Jeremiah 6:16 ...'Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.'
Sorry Pearl, but people who simply quote the bible in "support" of their beliefs in supernatural entities, or paranormal events really have no understanding of the world of human enedeavour, philosophy, science and logic.
You should be quoting Copernicus, Galileo, Newton or Einstein.
And Bertrand Russell - who famously said "No one can sit at the bedside of a dying child and still believe in God."
... Friend, if anyone tells you that anything short of giving your all to Christ is ok, DO NOT listen to them. True worship of our Heavenly Father cannot be mixed with unrighteousness. We must separate ourselves from worldly things not only when we go to worship God in church, but in our everyday lives, as our worship of Almighty God should continue each and every day.
John 18:36 ...'Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world.'
Romans 12:2 ...'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.'
2 Corinthians 6:14 ...'what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?'
There's really no point in endlessly quoting biblical passages Pearl. I'm sure we've all read them previously (even we atheists!) and doing so repeatedly doesn't give them any additional credence.
You can't avoid the fact that the biblical stories were cobbled together by a disparate bunch of barely literate peasants with virtually NO comprehension of the sciences, and over a major time period.
Which is why there's so many inconsistencies and contradictions in it.
Well, the Roman Catholic Church, through the Roman emperor Constantine, brought Paganism and Christianity together, mixing truth with error and the world followed after it. Friend, rock music is of the world and should not be brought into the church.
What kind of music should be played and sung in church? Let me ask another question. Does the music in your church and the songs you sing exalt your God, or is the music for your enjoyment that you can dance around to? Many churches have now brought 'rock' music into church and call it 'Christian rock'. Is there such a thing? Well, think about it, is there such a thing as 'Christian drugs'? How about 'Christian Paganism'?
"A lot of churches today would feel more at home in a movie house, rather than in a house of prayer. More afriad of Holy living than of sinning. Knowing more about money than magnifying Christ in our bodies. It is so compromised, that Holiness and living a sin free life is heresy to the modern church. The modern church is, quite simply, just the world, with a Christian T-shirt on!" (Nicky Cruz)
@pearl26ful well said i love the verses you shared...it sure looks like a rock concert remember what the bible says about the christains in the last days , plp just want what pleases them and not God.......fear God with respect....bless you
Churches should not be bringing these worldly pleasures into worship services. We shouldn't be going to church because they have a good band, or they have plays (sketches) or because they show a film or because the pastor is funny! Church isn't a social event to catch up with your friends either. Worshiping God is a serious matter and not to be taken lightly.
Pearl, you say: "Churches should not be bringing these worldly pleasures into worship services."
Why are you (apparently) so fearful of allowing pleasure into churches? Presumably you're one of the 'fire and brimstone' religionists who spends their life constantly living in fear of all the doom and gloom you perceive in the world.
What a sad existence. What a disappointment life - and people in general - must be to you.
What kind of worship service should the church organize? Well, there should only be one reason why we go to church, and that is to worship God. So the service should be focused entirely on worshiping God. Unfortunately, many churches nowadays seem to focus more on making people happy and are putting the people before God. There are plenty of theatres and cinemas and concert halls in this world for people to go to during the week.
Psalm 139:6 ...'Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.'
Who are we to say what God does or doesn't mind! Who are we to say such things of the Almighty Creator? As it says in the above scripture, His greatness, judgement, knowledge and His ways are unsearchable, they are too high for us to attain. We have the Bible truth and we need to start living and worshiping according to that truth and stop second guessing our God.
many Christians will say that we can worship God any way we like and that He doesn't mind how we worship Him. But see the following Bible verses:
Psalm 145:3 ...'Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.'
Romans 11:33 ...'O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!'
Psalm 89:7 ...'God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.'
So first and foremost, God is to be feared and reverenced when we gather together to worship Him in church. Remember, this is the great Almighty Creator of the cosmos that we are worshiping, not a lifeless statue, but a living, breathing God who's power is unlimited and unfathomable.
Is there a right or wrong way to worship in Church? Many Christians believe that you can worship God any way you like. But is this Biblical? Afterall, Jesus calls us to worship God in spirit and truth. So from that verse we can know that there is a true way to worship Him. And if there is a true way to worship God, then there must be a false (wrong) way to worship.
to all of you who commented me back, thanks for your comments..but i just wanted to share what i've learned since i was a child coz i grew up and studied in a christian school and my father is also a pastor..i cannot deeply explain to you on how we should worship God but i have a website which i'll share with you so that you can enlighten your mind and and clear up your doubts on how to worsip God in a right way..here is some texts and links i've gathered from the informative website..
This is a major defining issue Pearl: " I just wanted to share what I've learned since I was a child... I grew up and studied in a christian school and my father is also a pastor."
You've spent your ENTIRE adult life living under the strong influence of religion. You were educated entirely in religious schools and your father is a pastor.
You've NEVER been exposed to an alternate world view. Even your knowledge of the sciences has been limited during your schooling.
Precisely: "But this is a bit too much...it doesnt look like a church at all." That's because it's NOT a church in the conventional sense. It's more correctly defined as a "cult" organisation. If Hillsong were NOT a cult, we wouldn't be having this discussion. And please don't denigrate your own less-than-favourable opinion of Hillsong, because at 27 you have adequate life experience in making a considered judgement.
And Hillsong definitely doesn't want you doing that!
Can you please quote me as to where I (as an atheist) have ever - even once - said I "don't like Christians"?
Like a lot of religionists, you put words in the mouths of atheists that were never in fact uttered. To do this is to mount a very poor argument. Lies will not help your "cause"!
But you're correct: We atheists DO demand "to see and need something to believe what Christians believe."
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
so noisy and worldly..the music is overpowering the lyrics and the meaning of the song, i think God is not glorified with it anymore..rock songs are not for God..i'm so sorry but this kind of song should not be singing inside the church..
First of all not the style is the thing that maters: you can worship God with any style of christian music.
Secondly we are the Curch not the building we meet; we are the Temples of God 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. God doesn't live in a building like what we call "church".
@pearl26ful Wow, just because it's not what you like doesn't mean God isn't glorified. God's praises aren't limited to a certain genre. They're are Christian metal bands (august burns red, and oh, sleeper) that have more worship like lyrics then the soft stuff you like. The church is supposed to grow with the world. We're trying to save souls here, if that means playing rock then so be it.
"The Church which is married to the Spirit of its Age will be a widow in the next." - Dean W.R. Inge
@pearl26ful Where in scripture does it say that to only worship in a certain genre? If you can find it I'll change my mind immediately. God created all things. Which means music. And yes that includes rock music. Music notes are music notes no matter what style you're playing. It's the spirit behind the song. If a worship song is done in a spanish salsa style, does God not get glory from that? Even though the style sounds like a dancing song? If not then the hispanic culture must be in sin..
@pearl26ful I do not care for songs like this, but we should never presume to know what kind of worship is "not for God". If the bible says to play skillfully and with a quiet noise and organ, I would agree with you. Instead Psalm 33:3 tells us to play skillfully and with a loud noise. As a worship leader, I'd say they have skill.
Jesus would be hanging out in bars and night clubs today. Dont forget that he was condemned for associating with the sinners, and not with the white washed tombs.
@pearl26ful If you say that about rock, you can say the same thing about Gospel. They place importance on doing cuts every measure and doing extremely crazy chords for the harmony to sound crazy. Pretty much a musical show and no lyrics. Hillsong has amazingly deep lyrics. Music doesn't matter. If you're worshiping God with all your heart, and it's truly genuine, it will go to the presence of God like a fragrance :)
i'm really week lately in God's way =( i have the talent to praise him you know and i remember i use to watch a lot Hillsong's vids cause they are a great motor for young people who do the same and now is like i really need to have strengh to NOT fall and leave Jesus 's way i really dont wanna do that this guys are always a great inspiration after of our GOD of course
i'm really week lately in God's way =( i have the talent to praise him you know and i remember i use to watch a lot Hillsong's vids cause they are a great motor for young people who do the same and now is like i really need to have strengh to now fall and leave Jesus 's way i really dont wanna do that this guys are always a great inspiration after of our GOD of course
"I use to watch a lot Hillsong's vids cause they are a great motor for young people..."
A large part of the brainwashing process that the "Hillsong" cult practices in Australia is aimed primarily at gullible, impressionable young people.
One of the more obvious ways to spread disinformation among the younger demographic is by means of catchy, well-written and skillfully performed music. These "Hillsong" YouTube videos are simply a devious mechanism to enable this - by stealth.
@ausGeoff You don't want to believe in Jesus but Jesus did miracles, he healed the sick and had compassion on them and before he left this earth he also said that after he would leave this earth those who believe in him will do miracles in the name of Jesus and YES it happens till now! People get healed from deadly dieases like Cancer, AIDS, etc in the name of Jesus, now what more? Is this not enough to believe in Him?
"Jesus did miracles, he healed the sick..." And your evidence for this is? There has never been any empirical evidence to support the fantasy of "miracles". And there never will be. Sorry.
"People get healed from deadly dieases like Cancer, AIDS, etc..." yes, they do. But it's because of the skills of dedicated surgeons and medical science, and NOT because of the intervention of a supernatural entity. Please don't insult doctors.
I will personally introduce you to doctors who have stood by and watched as terminal cancer patients were healed and have personally said that they have no idea what was going on, but they knew a miracle had happened. Are you going to tell me that the drugs they were given all of a sudden started working and completely cured the cancer? I think that would make you ignorant...
Do you have an article for heart patients as well? I will never believe that someone on their death bed all of a sudden undergoes "spotaneous regression" for any disease. I think it's sad that you refuse to admit that something miraculous is happening and would much rather try to explain it and give some ridiculous reason for it.
This argument - "I will never believe...etc" relies on an unfounded "belief" by an individual. Simple human beliefs are often totally unfounded, and obviously lack any scientific or philosophical merit. People sincerely "believed" that the earth was flat for centuries. Simply believing in something doesn't make it so.
Can I assume that you regard scientific evidence as "ridiculous"? It's disingenuous to deny that spontaneous remission does occur - it's empirically proven.
@JuliaTofan "...you refuse to admit that something miraculous is happening". Illogical conclusion. I simply do NOT believe in so-called miracles. It's not a matter of guilelessly "admitting" they happen; that presupposes that it's a foregone conclusion that they DO occur, and yet I'm (allegedly) denying it. Which is obviously silly without any evidence.
I base my disbelief on a lack of demonstrable evidence for miracles; you base your belief on personal faith. Which is more logical?
"Do you have an article for heart patients as well?" I'm assuming you're using this as an "umbrella" term for the variety heart disorders.
A distinction needs to be made between cancer and heart disease. All heart "diseases" involve structural or physical failure of various organic tissues. Whereas all cancers are genetic disorders in which cells grow uncontrollably - usually because of the failure of the tumor suppressor gene.
So, I guess, even you would have to admit that a patient with a heart malformation and a life expectancy of 9 who is now 35 after his malformation all of a sudden disappeared around age 8 IS a miracle. I also find it interesting that you say everything needs empirical proof when science mostly gives theories about things, like evolution, without much solid evidence. To believe a theory also requires a certain amount of faith. I just pray you apply that faith to something else.
Can you please supply me a link to your quoted heart patient who regressed?
At any rate, this example is simply "cherry-picking". Do you seriously think that a single regression such as this (if, that is, it actually happened) out of literally millions of non-regressive heart failures is any kind of "proof" for miracles? And why this person in particular? Wouldn't that be suggestive of a weak, mean-spirited god who picks and chooses indiscriminately exactly those he "helps"?
I know the "patient" very well, he is the youth pastor at my church. I think the questions you ask and the way in which you are writing shows you feel God tugging at your heart. I am not a 6000 year old creationist, I am a 23 year old sinner saved by grace. I doubt you have all the answers to how everything came to be, frankly neither do I. In the end, we all choose what we want to believe in. You may not agree with it, but not everyone agrees with your beliefs either.
I'm sorry, but whilst not questioning your sincerity, I need to sight some sort of medical documentation that this "miracle" heart regression (of your pastor's) actually occurred. For those of us who are religious skeptics, third-party hearsay is not appropriate evidence.
I'm still guessing that you don't accept that "belief" is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true. A belief, in and of itself, does NOT make something true.
And you seeing medical documentation would do what? You would just find a label for it.
I think you are a very intelligent individual who has done a lot of research to find proof there is no God. I challenge you to do the opposite. I think you might be surprised at what you will find, and I mean actual scientific proof, not beliefs that can't be proven true. I pray you allow yourself to be challenged in this, I think it might change your life.
—Sighting the medical evidence for a SPONTANEOUS regression of a life-threatening heart disease - AND one with a prognosis of imminent death - would give me cause for more thought about both sides of the argument Julia.
I guess the only(!) "scientific" proof I need for the existence of god(s) is the ultimate question answered: Where did it all start? And I'm thinking that - again, ultimately - neither of us can (at this point in time) answer that question unequivocally.
—Even as a skeptic, I can't see mankind discovering the true origins of our universe - or life on our planet - in the near future. I also accept that we don't even understand comprehensively how our own brains "work", let alone everything in the cosmos. What I do accept is that over the past several centuries, science has, time and again, proven what little we DO know about (or have hypothesized about) our universe to be empirically true.
This is demonstrably wrong: "science mostly gives theories about things, like evolution, without much solid evidence."
Science firstly posits hypotheses, and then attempts to DISPROVE them. And that's not a typo. Like many religionists, you misunderstand precisely how the scientific method works.
Fossil evidence indicates an evolutionary system that's been ongoing for around four MILLION years. And Jesus lived....?
I don't believe in Christianity as a religion but as a relationship. A relationship based on love, towards God and others. I will not resort to insults, because I don't need to. I think that you know the things I wrote earlier have some truth, or else you would not have written in the manner in which you did. And btw, the evolutionary system is a puzzle that is still missing A LOT of pieces.
@ausGeoff1 i have heard and seen cases where the skills of dedicated surgeons, doctors and medical science has themselves said that there can nothing be done to save the patient from dying. But fortunately the patient who was soon about to die in a month or so encountered with a man of God. He prayed for that person and voila! he was saved! that person himself says this testimony that the doctors said he would die but somebody who cares for him healed him.
—John: Do you have any evidence at all that any of these cases was anything other than spontaneous remissions or regressions?
In 2006, in the largest study of its kind into "intercessory prayer", researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had NO effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications!
@ausGeoff1 I don't believe in intercessory prayers and other sorts of things, I believe in Jesus! and because you wanted a evidence that it wasn't a spontaneous remissions or regressions, why don't you try yourself to find it out? I know you are an expert to find evidences and other things to prove that there is no God. Why not try to find God? I bet there is a lot more interesting things to learn and know in Jesus. Good Luck ;)
Jesus is Jesus, no matter what debate or argument you are having. His word never changes and neither does he. That's the bottom line, The bible wasn't written to cause confusion.... Confusion comes from the devil. It's very simple you choose to follow Jesus or you choose to be a sinner and follow satan.??
Sorry, but your comments are a classic "non sequitur". You claim that 'Jesus is Jesus' and that will never change. And you claim that an entity known as 'the devil' exists, and that's why we have "sinners".
That's tantamount to saying that because Father Christmas exists, little kids get presents. Or because the Easter bunny exists, kids - amazingly! - find eggs hidden around their gardens at Easter.
Does the existence of those eggs "prove" that the Easter Bunny is real?
I find it funny how people who dont like Christians. (Or "religion") come to these types of videos and bad mouth it. They say they dont believe in God and want nothing to do with "religion", yet they still come looking for it. I think in the back of their minds they really want to find SOMETHING beyond our own understanding, because they want to believe in something bigger than ourselves. God has placed eternity in our hearts.( Ecclesiastes 3:11)
"I find it funny how people who dont like Christians (or "religion") come to these types of videos and bad mouth it..."
I'm always bemused that religionists don't seem to accept that non-believers are entitled to an opinion about religion. And if you'd read my original posting, you would've understood that my main complaint is with the "Hillsong" cult in Australia, and the insidious way it's poisoning the minds of our impressionable young people.
@ausGeoff1 I understand about it being your own opinion. But how is Hillsong "poisoning" young minds? How is it a cult? They're a church who release worship cds. Many churches do this. Hillsong's just been doing it longer.
They're in it purely for the money Josh. MILLIONS of dollars a year-type money. They have tax-free status in Australia (how convenient!) and they're considered a "cult" by numerous local commentators - including even many bona-fide religious reporters.
@ausGeoff1 How do you know its all for money? And like I said. They're a church. All religious organizations have tax free status. And why is it considered a cult if they preach the Word of God?
An Aussie publisher has pulled the promotion of a new book - People in Glass Houses - which tells how "a small Assemblies of God church in a suburban school hall became a multimillion-dollar tax-free enterprise, a cult and a powerful force in Australia", Why? For fear of a defamation suit.
Legal counsel reveals a not-for-profit organisation CAN sue. The irony is that while Hillsong is not-for-profit in the sense that it doesn't pay tax, it has annual revenues of $50 million!
—"All religious organizations have tax free status." And why should this be the case? What logical - and fair - justification can there be for this special status that puts the interests of churches above all those of every other person and organisation in the world?
Globally, governments need to immediately rescind the tax-free status of churches turning over hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
Were that to occur, cults such as Hillsong would disappear overnight.
@ausGeoff1 Its not just religous organizations that have tax exemptions. Charities, non-profit organizations, places that help homeless people, they're all things that take donations. You're saying charities for cancer patients should pay taxes too? Homeless shelters? Charities? I don't know why governments allow tax exemptions. You should ask your congressman that. All I know is that its been that way since time immemorial.
@ausGeoff1 Another thing. Why is it that just cause these songs are well written and performed, that its all a scheme? Does that mean just cause artists happen to be Christian, that they have to suck at their craft? Secular artists who sing about sex, drugs, and everything else but God do it with awesome finesse and talent. So why not Christian artists? Only speaking about Truth. The Bible says do all things to the Glory of God to the best of your ability.
You're missing my point Josh. ALL fraudsters' plans are more than well-researched and presented to a gullible public. The only way to "sell" your scheme is to present an absolutely top-quality "product" to attract people - any second-rate stuff won't sell. And that's the whole point of the YouTube Hillsong music videos and CDs. They're top-quality. And they obviously sell.
But that in itself does NOT disprove that Hillsong is simply a multi-million dollar money-making cult.
Also, the laws of motion state that nothing can move itself. Everything must be set into motion by something else. "The velocity of a body remains constant unless the body is acted upon by an external force."
With that in mind, no matter how old the universe is, nothing can move itself. Therefore at some point something that is not restricted by the laws of motion must have set everything in motion. Likely, (of course an assumption as it is not provable) that something is apart from this univ
Sorry, but this is scientifically incorrect: "Everything must be set into motion by something else."
You're confusing the complex sub-atomic transformation of energy with a simply applied, external physical force. The inherent energy of a radioactive isotope degrades over a period of time (heat, sound,light), and it ultimately ceases to "move" - or in fact, exist at all.
Thus, transformation of energy may well - and probably did - "create" our universe. Or the "big bang" .
@ausGeoff I don't have a problem with debate. Debate is fun and like an endless chess match. However, there seems (to me) to be a lot of condescension and a lack of respect. I see how you are trying to debate, but generally speaking, the Christians posting are speaking from offense. There is a thin line between debate and argument and everyone is dancing with it in this post.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this: is it not possible that an all-powerful God could have created an Earth tha
With that said, how much would I have to hate someone to believe that they could spend eternity in a horrible endless torture and not let them know what I believe is the only way out.
So I tell you that I believe there is a God and a Savior, Jesus Christ who loves you so much that He gave everything He had to pay your debt and that He is the way to eternity in Peace and Perfection. I can't tell you what to believe, I'm not trying to. That decision is yours only.
Scientists don't need to "disprove" the existence of a god or gods. Philosophically-speaking, one cannot prove a negative. It's up to the proponents of a theory to prove it — by supplying evidence for their claims. Obviously, I can't provide evidence for something that doesn't exist.
Can I respectfully suggest that you read about "Russell's Teapot" at this blog: [godwaslove(DOT)com] for some interesting and educated debate.
Bottom line: scientists cannot disprove God anymore than Christians can empircally prove God. There is no sense arguing. I am a Christian. I believe in Biblical Truth and understand why I do. There is no sense in arguing. It gets nowhere. If you are curious to know what I believe and why, I will gladly share it with you, but it is not my place to argue and try to "prove" (for lack of a better word) my belief to someone who won't listen anyway.
—I prefer to use the term "debating" rather than arguing—with its negative connotations.
And on that note, I think healthy debate is critically vital—especially in this day and age of global unrest. If you feel that we atheists "won't listen" then you're misjudging us. One of the tenets of atheists is that we have an absolutely open mind regarding ALL hypotheses.
But yes; we try to shoot them down one by one. And that's precisely how science works. By DIS-proving things.
aus im a christian and i dont want to call you names of what u r but i would like to talk to u on facevook or on here i would like to tell u why we believe in the stuff we do but i dont want to change ur ways
ausgief u said when ur a child we beleave in the easter bunny thats how it is with us christians in the bible it says we have minds like childs if we believe in him we are kids in his eyes we can be 100 years old and still be kids so im not trying to offend u but we are childs intill we get to heaven or hell
—Sorry, but I have to totally disagree with the assertion that "we're all children in god's eyes".
This of course is relying on the assumption (or belief) that "god" —or any gods—actually exist.
What I'm claiming is that there is NO proof whatsoever for such an existence.
I'm a mature, rational, philosophical and reflective adult who's spent a lifetime investigating religion(s) to satisfy in my own mind that atheism is the correct "path" to follow.
is simple, do you think when you see a building that was built only?. not someone built it, so it is naive to think that the universe was created alone. you´re blind as blind talk.
—Your "intelligent design" analogy (an office building needs a builder) to "prove" god's existence is fruitless. Sorry.
EVERYTHING in the physical world is constructed at the sub-atomic level, and more often than not physical entities are formed by spontaneous electro-mechanical reactions at that level. It's all to do with mass and energy, and the conservation of energy (or synergetics).
For example, fire is simply an oxidation process occurring without any intervention by man.
@ausGeoff1 I'm sorry but you were just explaining how things work. Granted that the physical world is constructed with atoms and mechanical reactions(oxidation process). But that doesnt prove that God doesnt exists. indulge me in this, if you see a robot, and you figure out the mechanical parts, the programming, the hardware(much like you sub atomic level argument), can you honestly believe that that just came into existence due to randomness and entropy?...
@ausGeoff1 Or a more logical conclusion is that someone had to create that, with a purpose. My friend, all youve been trying to prove is HOW the world works, not WHY it works that way. The only way you can know the purpose of that robot is by asking its creator, much like in this universe, the only way you can truly know your purpose is by first ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that you and i have a creator. you can prove all day that God doesnt exists, but that doesnt mean that he is not real.
So lord, lead us in the ways of your love.

BL00DYSL4YER54 1 month ago
I love Jesus, I love Hillsong, and I love this song. Funny how people can get so nitpicky over someone else's music. If you don't like it don't listen to it. It's that simple. There is no such thing as "evil music", only evil lyrics, and quite frankly, these lyrics are far from being evil. God is using Hillsong, he's used them in my life, he's used them to help my mom who has sturggled a lot in her life. I thank God so so so much for Hillsong and what they are doing.
psalm121psalm135 1 month ago
@psalm121psalm135
Could you please clarify what you mean when you say god "helped" your mom?
Specifically, in what tangible ways? Do you have any empirical evidence other than simply unfounded suppositions that he (allegedly) intervened in any PRACTICAL way?
My guess is your answer will be no.
ausGeoff1 1 month ago
@ausGeoff1 Your question doesn't really dignify a response but I will respond anyway.
My mom has struggled A LOT in her life, ever since she was little she has been battling one health problem after the other. Recently, she has struggled with a disease called Polymyositis, look it up in Wikipedia. Most of her time is spent in her room, listening and watching Hillsong has helped her to focus on God rather then her circumstances. Praising him for WHO He is and NOT for what she can get from him.
psalm121psalm135 1 month ago
@psalm121psalm135
It's improbable to believe that some supernatural entity is intervening,
ausGeoff1 1 month ago

And her god doesn't like rock! Sad..

I wonder what was so insuficient about simply worship, that brought about this trip Hillsong is on?! It's so hard to watch their hyperfast paced videos, I've no idea what they sing unless they subtitle. Instead of a presence of God experience, and afraid of being landed with epileptic fit. @gdfabpics2012
You've nailed it in one!

TheNihilust 1 month ago
@TheNihilust

SuperDeath66666 1 month ago
@SuperDeath66666
I do so WITHOUT any need to rationalise it with a belief in an imaginary friend up in the sky!
ausGeoff1 1 month ago

SuperDeath66666 1 month ago
@SuperDeath66666
Where is YOUR proof? Do you have any?
ausGeoff1 1 month ago
@ausGeoff1 one example my people will ignore me in the last days says the Lord...he told it centuries ago and see you are ignoring him
SuperDeath66666 1 month ago
@SuperDeath66666
Sorry, but I'm NOT ignoring your god. I cannot ignore something that's been proven not to exist.
That's like saying that I ignore the "fact" that the Earth is flat, as proposed by thousands of "flat-earth" theorists all over the world.
One can choose only to ignore something that is in actual existence, whereby its existence is supported by empirical evidence.
Why do you not believe the Earth is flat? Simply because of the irrefutable evidence. And god?

Moses said to his henchmen, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbour.' "
The Levites did as Moses commanded, so on that day about THREE THOUSAND people died.

And yes; "Hillsong" IS a cult. Sorry.

mrterencerubia 2 months ago
@mrterencerubia

The people performing should be doing this, not for a show but to please God. the audience also shouldnt be praising the band [members] but God.
sheildlinky 2 months ago
@sheildlinky

More from a former Hillsong cult member:
"I've wondered how people can attend their church services, which more closely resemble rock concerts, and not see they are primarily designed to bamboozle the senses.
And I've wondered how people can tithe 10 percent of their income to a church whose boss, Brian Houston, said last year raked in $50 million."
Hillsong is NOT about religion: It's about making money for its leaders. Please remember that when you watch this music video.
ausGeoff1 2 months ago
And this from a former Hillsong cult member:

U need to get your heart right with God before u can judge the heart of a passionate church.

@wassupphomie
And I'm an atheist.
ausGeoff1 2 months ago
@wassupphomie

And:
"Hillsong Church's strict doctrines teach that homosexuality is an affliction that can be cured" according to a former member.
—How totally abhorrent is this? This is only one of the reasons why the Hillsong cult should be closely monitored by the authorities

Sorry Pearl, but people who simply quote the bible in "support" of their beliefs in supernatural entities, or paranormal events really have no understanding of the world of human enedeavour, philosophy, science and logic.
You should be quoting Copernicus, Galileo, Newton or Einstein.

... Friend, if anyone tells you that anything short of giving your all to Christ is ok, DO NOT listen to them. True worship of our Heavenly Father cannot be mixed with unrighteousness.

Churches should not be bringing these worldly pleasures into worship services. We shouldn't be going to church because they have a good band, or they have plays (sketches) or because they show a film or because the pastor is funny! Church isn't a social event to catch up with your friends either. Worshiping God is a serious matter and not to be taken lightly.
pearl26ful 3 months ago
@pearl26ful
Lighten up Pearl, and start enjoying life.
ausGeoff1 2 months ago

So first and foremost, God is to be feared and reverenced when we gather together to worship Him in church. Remember, this is the great Almighty Creator of the cosmos that we are worshiping, not a lifeless statue, but a living, breathing God who's power is unlimited and unfathomable.

How Should we Worship God in Church?
Is there a right or wrong way to worship in Church? Many Christians believe that you can worship God any way you like. But is this Biblical? Afterall, Jesus calls us to worship God in spirit and truth. So from that verse we can know that there is a true way to worship Him. And if there is a true way to worship God, then there must be a false (wrong) way to worship.

@pearl26ful

Please provide that evidence. Or can you not?

I believe that we can worship God with rock.
But we must take care of our attitudes within the church, because there is a holy place.
We must remember that David jumped, danced and sang to God along with the ark of the covenant.
MJRSDgremista 3 months ago 16
@MJRSDgremista and @pearl26ful
First of all not the style is the thing that maters: you can worship God with any style of christian music.
Secondly we are the Curch not the building we meet; we are the Temples of God 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. God doesn't live in a building like what we call "church".
Andreyu94 3 months ago
@pearl26ful Wow, just because it's not what you like doesn't mean God isn't glorified. God's praises aren't limited to a certain genre. They're are Christian metal bands (august burns red, and oh, sleeper) that have more worship like lyrics then the soft stuff you like. The church is supposed to grow with the world. We're trying to save souls here, if that means playing rock then so be it.
"The Church which is married to the Spirit of its Age will be a widow in the next." - Dean W.R. Inge
GarrettMCobbs 3 months ago
@pearl26ful Where in scripture does it say that to only worship in a certain genre? If you can find it I'll change my mind immediately. God created all things. Which means music. And yes that includes rock music. Music notes are music notes no matter what style you're playing. It's the spirit behind the song. If a worship song is done in a spanish salsa style, does God not get glory from that? Even though the style sounds like a dancing song? If not then the hispanic culture must be in sin..
JoshFazzz 3 months ago
@pearl26ful I do not care for songs like this, but we should never presume to know what kind of worship is "not for God". If the bible says to play skillfully and with a quiet noise and organ, I would agree with you. Instead Psalm 33:3 tells us to play skillfully and with a loud noise. As a worship leader, I'd say they have skill.
Jesus would be hanging out in bars and night clubs today. Dont forget that he was condemned for associating with the sinners, and not with the white washed tombs.
thequantumvacuum 3 months ago
@pearl26ful If you say that about rock, you can say the same thing about Gospel. They place importance on doing cuts every measure and doing extremely crazy chords for the harmony to sound crazy. Pretty much a musical show and no lyrics. Hillsong has amazingly deep lyrics. Music doesn't matter. If you're worshiping God with all your heart, and it's truly genuine, it will go to the presence of God like a fragrance :)

Is this not enough to believe in Him?
johnjig25 5 months ago
@johnjig25
Please don't insult doctors.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
Re cancer healing: Spontaneous remissions or regressions are more than common in many cancer patients. [see Everson and Cole, 1966]
For example around 22% of all breast cancers undergo spontaneous regression.
No gods necessary at all.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
Do you have an article for heart patients as well? I will never believe that someone on their death bed all of a sudden undergoes "spotaneous regression" for any disease. I think it's sad that you refuse to admit that something miraculous is happening and would much rather try to explain it and give some ridiculous reason for it.
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
It's disingenuous to deny that spontaneous remission does occur - it's empirically proven.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan "...you refuse to admit that something miraculous is happening". Illogical conclusion. I simply do NOT believe in so-called miracles. It's not a matter of guilelessly "admitting" they happen; that presupposes that it's a foregone conclusion that they DO occur, and yet I'm (allegedly) denying it. Which is obviously silly without any evidence.
I base my disbelief on a lack of demonstrable evidence for miracles; you base your belief on personal faith. Which is more logical?
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
Heart disease does NOT spontaneously regress.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
Wouldn't that be suggestive of a weak, mean-spirited god who picks and chooses indiscriminately exactly those he "helps"?
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
A belief, in and of itself, does NOT make something true.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
And I'm thinking that - again, ultimately - neither of us can (at this point in time) answer that question unequivocally.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@JuliaTofan
Exodus 3:1-21 only has the burning bush!
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
Respond to this video...
Or are you a 6,000-year old "new" creationist?
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1
JuliaTofan 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1 i have heard and seen cases where the skills of dedicated surgeons, doctors and medical science has themselves said that there can nothing be done to save the patient from dying. But fortunately the patient who was soon about to die in a month or so encountered with a man of God. He prayed for that person and voila! he was saved! that person himself says this testimony that the doctors said he would die but somebody who cares for him healed him.
johnjig25 2 months ago
@johnjig25
—How can you explain that?
ausGeoff1 2 months ago
@ausGeoff1 I don't believe in intercessory prayers and other sorts of things, I believe in Jesus! and because you wanted a evidence that it wasn't a spontaneous remissions or regressions, why don't you try yourself to find it out? I know you are an expert to find evidences and other things to prove that there is no God. Why not try to find God? I bet there is a lot more interesting things to learn and know in Jesus. Good Luck ;)
johnjig25 2 months ago
Jesus is Jesus, no matter what debate or argument you are having. His word never changes and neither does he. That's the bottom line, The bible wasn't written to cause confusion.... Confusion comes from the devil. It's very simple you choose to follow Jesus or you choose to be a sinner and follow satan.??
praisehim316 5 months ago
@praisehim316

Hillsong cult = ignorance.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1 I understand about it being your own opinion. But how is Hillsong "poisoning" young minds? How is it a cult? They're a church who release worship cds. Many churches do this. Hillsong's just been doing it longer.
JoshFazzz 3 months ago
@JoshFazzz
They're in it purely for the money Josh. MILLIONS of dollars a year-type money. They have tax-free status in Australia (how convenient!) and they're considered a "cult" by numerous local commentators - including even many bona-fide religious reporters.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1 How do you know its all for money? And like I said. They're a church. All religious organizations have tax free status. And why is it considered a cult if they preach the Word of God?
JoshFazzz 3 months ago
@JoshFazzz
The irony is that while Hillsong is not-for-profit in the sense that it doesn't pay tax, it has annual revenues of $50 million!
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@JoshFazzz
Were that to occur, cults such as Hillsong would disappear overnight.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1 Its not just religous organizations that have tax exemptions. Charities, non-profit organizations, places that help homeless people, they're all things that take donations. You're saying charities for cancer patients should pay taxes too? Homeless shelters? Charities? I don't know why governments allow tax exemptions. You should ask your congressman that. All I know is that its been that way since time immemorial.
JoshFazzz 3 months ago
@ausGeoff1 Another thing. Why is it that just cause these songs are well written and performed, that its all a scheme? Does that mean just cause artists happen to be Christian, that they have to suck at their craft? Secular artists who sing about sex, drugs, and everything else but God do it with awesome finesse and talent. So why not Christian artists? Only speaking about Truth. The Bible says do all things to the Glory of God to the best of your ability.
JoshFazzz 3 months ago
@JoshFazzz
But that in itself does NOT disprove that Hillsong is simply a multi-million dollar money-making cult.
ausGeoff1 3 months ago
Also, the laws of motion state that nothing can move itself. Everything must be set into motion by something else. "The velocity of a body remains constant unless the body is acted upon by an external force."
With that in mind, no matter how old the universe is, nothing can move itself. Therefore at some point something that is not restricted by the laws of motion must have set everything in motion. Likely, (of course an assumption as it is not provable) that something is apart from this univ
themaundering 5 months ago
@themaundering

There is a thin line between debate and argument and everyone is dancing with it in this post.

themaundering 5 months ago
With that said, how much would I have to hate someone to believe that they could spend eternity in a horrible endless torture and not let them know what I believe is the only way out.
So I tell you that I believe there is a God and a Savior, Jesus Christ who loves you so much that He gave everything He had to pay your debt and that He is the way to eternity in Peace and Perfection. I can't tell you what to believe, I'm not trying to. That decision is yours only.

—Thank you for your thoughtful posts(s).
Scientists don't need to "disprove" the existence of a god or gods. Philosophically-speaking, one cannot prove a negative. It's up to the proponents of a theory to prove it — by supplying evidence for their claims. Obviously, I can't provide evidence for something that doesn't exist.
Can I respectfully suggest that you read about "Russell's Teapot" at this blog: [godwaslove(DOT)com] for some interesting and educated debate.
ausGeoff1 5 months ago
Bottom line: scientists cannot disprove God anymore than Christians can empircally prove God. There is no sense arguing. I am a Christian. I believe in Biblical Truth and understand why I do. There is no sense in arguing. It gets nowhere. If you are curious to know what I believe and why, I will gladly share it with you, but it is not my place to argue and try to "prove" (for lack of a better word) my belief to someone who won't listen anyway.
themaundering 5 months ago
@themaundering

For example, fire is simply an oxidation process occurring without any intervention by man.
ausGeoff1 5 months ago
@ausGeoff1 I'm sorry but you were just explaining how things work. Granted that the physical world is constructed with atoms and mechanical reactions(oxidation process). But that doesnt prove that God doesnt exists. indulge me in this, if you see a robot, and you figure out the mechanical parts, the programming, the hardware(much like you sub atomic level argument), can you honestly believe that that just came into existence due to randomness and entropy?...
jepoy0891 5 months ago
@ausGeoff1 Or a more logical conclusion is that someone had to create that, with a purpose. My friend, all youve been trying to prove is HOW the world works, not WHY it works that way. The only way you can know the purpose of that robot is by asking its creator, much like in this universe, the only way you can truly know your purpose is by first ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that you and i have a creator. you can prove all day that God doesnt exists, but that doesnt mean that he is not real.
jepoy0891 5 months ago
