  • stupid cowboys...go to hell

  • It's a shame that these two never met up in the Bowl. They were the best 2 teams in the NFL from 88-93.

  • YES!!!! I've been looking for this

  • always thought the 49ers and bills would meet in a superbowl during this era. never happened

  • FAMOUS NO PUNT GAME. its funny, i always thought this bills team matched up better with the 49ers instead of the cowboys. they almost played in 3 sbs..

  • i was so looking forward to this game when the schedual came out........ fox didntnot show it in my area :( i seen a highlights of this game wish i could of live it ........

  • @49ers95 This game back in 1992 was on NBC back in the day Week 2 of that season.

  • Steve Young: best QB OF ALL TIME

  • I don't think there were any punts in this game.

  • wow you put up the whole game? this is a breakthrough for nfl football games especially on youtube.com

  • The Super Bowl that never happened. For 7 straight seasons, one of these two teams made it to the Super Bowl ... but they never got to play each other. Chris Berman from ESPN the other day was talking about this a few weeks ago when both the 49ers and Bills were winless, and he had a football that said "Super Bowl XXVII Bills VS. 49ers" on it that the NFL never got to use.

  • @PITTSBURGHESE86 I think you mean 5 straight seasons. BUF '90 -'93.......SF '94. 1990-1994

  • @iLO80

PITTSBURGHESE86 was right. San Fran went to the two super bowls right before Buffalo strung together their four straight appearances.

  • Why won't NFL Network show the replay of this game?

  • @dolphinbuc Because NFL Network sucks when it comes to replaying old great games. They keep replaying the same games over and over.

  • @checkmateforever Yeah, they'd get more of my viewing attention if Steve Sabol just opened the vault, and let em play different games each week.I'd rather watch some ol' school instead of watching my Dolphins get hosed or Playbook.Blahhhh!

  • @dolphinbuc

checkmateforever said it as concisely as you can. I'll elaborate by also saying I'm thoroughly confused as to why the NFL(even having its OWN DAMN NETWORK) doesn't air their older classics with any regularity(as in stuff before 1990.) I used to think it was so they could make money from DVD anthologies in the future but in another five years I seriously doubt anyone other than NFL history buffs will even care to buy that kind of thing. Otherwise I've no idea why they've hold out.

  • I kinda miss seeing the Niners play on the baseball diamond early in the season. Candlestick isn't the same since the Giants left.

  • I wish NBC still HAVE AFC television rights

  • Although I'm a 49ers fan, I have to admit that this was one of the greatest games ever played in NFL history. I despise the Bills. However, I must give them all the credit in this game as they played exceptionally well (especially, Thurman Thomas...TNT). I believe this was either week 2 or 3 of the 92-93 season. I was a freshman in high school. In a game that featured over 1,000 yards of total offense by both teams, this game will always be remembered as the no punt game. Classic!

  • Whoever loaded this game, youre a star

  • This was a great game! The two best teams in the 90's. Would have been a great Super Bowl.

  • @cicio428 I agree!! I would've love to see a Bills vs 49ers Super Bowl. I'm a die hard 49ers fan living in Western New York (Buffalo area). I would talk so much smack to Bills fans the day after the Bills lost their four Super Bowl appearances.

  • @pr1978 Smack! The Bills would have beaten the 49ers in Super Bowl 25.

  • @cicio428

The best team in the 90's was the Dallas Cowboys...hands down the best.

  • @bige300 Dallas got luckey in the Super Bowl though, Neil O'Donnel's 3 int's and Jim Kelly getting knocked out of SB 27. Dallas would not have beaten Joe Montana led 49ers. I think the Elway led Broncos of 97&98 would have beaten Dallas too.

  • @cicio428

Jim Kelly played the entire game in Super Bowl 28 and had the lead at halftime. Care to tell me how that one ended up? Frank Reich was a formidable backup, so using Kelly getting knocked out of Super Bowl 27 as an excuse for losing is extremely weak. Furthermore, when a QB throws 3 INTs in a Super Bowl, they don't deserve to win.

  • @bige300 Well it was a cheap shot by Ken Norton! Kelly threw 2 int's in SB 27. Kelly never got blown out in any game like that in his career. I think the game would have been a lot closer.

  • @bige300 Would the Cowboys have beaten Denver? What about the 94 49ers? NFC Title game? Who won that?

  • @cicio428

As a matter of fact the '92 Cowboys DID beat Denver...in Mile High.

  • did steve start in '91?

  • My dream for the Super Bowl XXV was between these two great teams. It was a pity that did not happen the January 27, 1991.

And yet through this video we see the true football

Two Great teams forever and ever

  • @TheLiderskull although I'm a 49ers fan if they went to that superbowl with Steve Young as QB I dont think they would win! Steve Young wasn't ready for any superbowl run at this time!

  • Welcome to the Shwam Bowl

  • lol at 3:07 "His idol is OJ Simpson."

    Common at the time...funny now.

  • The niners beat 2 nfc east teams on there way to there first super bowl, beat the giants on the way to the 84 title. They also beat the redskins in 90 and 92 in the playoffs.tormentors i think not.

  • nicole and ron's throats gettting cut isn't something that makes me laugh

  • Uh...yeah. That's not what I was laughing at their, champ.

  • i remember seeing this game when i was 8 years old it was a shootout with many scores and the bills coming out on top...

  • Why didn't Montana start ?

  • Because Steve Young was the best quarterback in the NFL in '92.

  • They didn't win the Super Bowl though Joe had won 4.

  • Joe didn't win the prior year, in '91. Young won MVP of the league in '92. Cowboys were just a better team as a whole that year.

  • @Bskiz1978 Young was named the starter at this time. Montana was coming of the injury caused in the 1990 NFC Championship game!

  • This was a no punt game, it was also a very high scoring game. It's hard to believe that it has been 17 years ago!!!

  • This is fantastic!! Brings back so many memories. I was in fifth grade during this game, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for posting!!

    GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheCardCheat of what losing superbowls? Go Niners

  • HOLY SHIT THE NO PUNT GAME!

  • One of my favorite games ever - fun game!!!!!

  • I've always been curious as to how a Bills-49ers Super Bowl would have turned out. High-scoring shootout.

That being said, as a Cowboys fan I am quite gleeful that Dallas twice prevented this Super Bowl matchup from ever taking place! =D

  • 49ers vs Cowboys. Three NFC championship games in a row. 49ers best team the first time, Cowboys won. Cowboys the better team the second time and won. 49ers better team third time and won. Best two teams in the league at that time with out a doubt. Buffalo matched up well with the Niners, but I think the Niners would have won.

  • In 92, the 49ers had the better offense. But defensively, the 49ers were below average (ranked 15 out of 28 teams). Overall, the Cowboys were the more complete team, although that game could have gone either way.

93, again, I would say the 49ers had the better offense, but that season Dallas was a much better team.

94, the 49ers had the better offense again, and a defense that was up to par with Dallas'.

  • Those years when both teams were Superbowl contenders! I miss those days.

  • But those pesky Dallas Cowboys tormented both of these teams.

  • i wish a bills - niners super bowl would have happened, because the bills matched up really well with the niners

  • They really did, those NFC East teams were just brutal though, Buffalo didn't have an answer for a power running game and punishing defense but matched up well with a shoot out minded team like SF.

  • the bills were better than this niners team.. and the won.

  • I don't know that they were better but they matched up and won this day.

  • Isn't it interesting that one or the other went to the Super Bowl for seven consecutive years but they NEVER meet there. Wow.

  • The NFC East was the tormentors of both of these franchises.

  • Chris Berman always predicted they would meet every year during this time it seemed like

  • ya he did because he hated the cowboys

  • @qukarlz When did Chris Berman ever say he hated the cowboys

  • i don't know if he ever said it a friend of mine just told me that's why he always made that prediction

  • What distinguishes greats like Montana and Brady from Young is their calmness in the huddle. Young was too intense, too calculating, and "thought" too much--as a quarterback, this was not an ideal characteristic to have. Young had the mentality of a linebacker, not an SB quarterback. Young got his SB, but if he could relax a bit more, he could have gone to a few more SBs if he wasn't so hard on himself.

  • It's hard to relax when you have a less than stellar offensive line and no running game. Young had a small offensive line who couldn't stand up to the evolving defenses of the 90s. Basically, Young was dealing with an offensive line built for the 80s. How many times did Young get beat to a pulp? Concussions galore, broken ribs, name it. Over and over. Because his line was not that good.

But he was calm enough to statistically be the most efficient QB in history, at 96.8, wasn't he?

  • Yes. I was always pissed at San Fran for not developing that offensive line. Young was always running for his life. Because of this they let the Cowboys and Packers roll over them time and time again. With the teams they had they should have gone and won more than 1 Superbowl in the 90's

  • I know, Steve still holds the highest QB Rating in history (since his retirement -96.8), and the highest QB Rating in a SB.

It's amazing, Young was still able to win almost every passing record/MVP award (with the lacking chemistry on that line) within the early 90's, even before his SB campaign (when the line had reached full maturity).

  • I know they won but the bills will always suck....GO NINERS!!!

  • u are a douche

  • Why? because the bills never won a superbowl? Stop being angry because your team never won a superbowl....

  • Berman would always pick a Bills-49ers super bowl....

  • does anyone have any games where RICE plays the whole game?

  • Thank God for uploading this! Bless your soul who ever posted this.

  • lol at 9:09 that wasnt rice who caught the ball

  • Parity in the NFL SUCKS!!

Teams from the early 90's era like the Bills, 49ers and Cowboys had the talent to do something similar to what the 2007 Patriots did if they played today. They were at least semi-decent at every position.

These teams were full of starters who made the Pro-bowl during their career and/or the HOF's after it.

The today in the NFL, every year is roughly something like:

    1. A handful of above average teams

    2. A lot of average teams

    3. A handful of bad teams

  • Duh....name the one thing they didn't have back then........oh just a little thing called the Salary Cap...

  • I agree, I miss the dynasties battling each other out, and when the conference title games felt bigger than the super bowl. today its like we are seeing just who is least worst.

  • @gregxiu Agreed. Parity hasn't worked. There are still teams that simply don't improve. And the teams that are considered "great" wouldn't match up against dynasties of the past. The Cowboys in the '90s were the last real dynasty.

  • bob trumpy I miss him bills won the game 34-31

  • Both the Bills and 49ers ended this season with a record of 7-9

  • no, the bills went 11-5 and went to the superbowl, the niners went 14-2, and lost the nfc championship, i dunno where u got 7-9 from

  • i was talking about this 2008 regular season.

[a lot of miscommunication on the internet. it's a big problem]

  • What a classic! i remember this game.

This could have been the superbowl.

  • well the main reason the 49ers didn't beat dallas in 1992 nfc championship is on display in this game. no, its not because joe montana was on the sidelines - the 49ers DEFENSE is really exposed as having lost a step from its super bowl calibre of past seasons. there was no standout leader on D since Lott left. it wouldn't be until 1994 that the 49ers would solidify their D and match/exceed dallas' talent. too bad in 1995 it was the offense that began to falter due to age/injury...

  • LDD86: "due to age/injury"

And the loss of key starters, most notably Ricky Watters. Imagine the 90s Cowboys without Emmitt Smith. Watters was HUGELY important, both as a runner and a receiver for that team.

  • SOMEONE TALK TO ME

    im bored on cam jb

  • I miss the 49ers uniforms

They should go back to wearing them

Love seeing the infield dirt in play; including the coaches box

Too bad Fenway Park is the only park in MLB that still has them

Beats having just a white line behind first base

  • @gjs78 Whoever designed the uniforms the 49ers wore from 1996 to 2008 should be shot. These were the classic uniforms. "Let's go out and win five superbowls and then change our uniforms." Stupidity.

  • Man, watching this really makes it feel like September of 1992 again. I remember I was so ticked that the Bills won this game. The Niners should have gotten a rematch in the Super Bowl later that season, but for the goddamn Cowboys.

  • would have loved that as a bills fan hah

  • This was a remarkable game for Steve Young even though the Niners lost. He tossed for over 400 yards and ran for more than 50 yards. Matt Cassel repeated this performance in the Pats' loss to the Jets several weeks back.

  • the NFL changed the rules years ago to help the offense score

  • I have this game :)

Sadly I may need to watch it after what the Bills did today :( :( :(

  • oh wow the no punt game. thanks so much for this upload.

  • How long is the baseball diamond on there? Until week 4-5?

  • oooh jerry rice and steve young, AND bruce smith....legendary players...oh and fucking thurman thomas, jim kelly....that was when football was good

  • yeah, it makes me totally nostalgic....i miss those days.

  • thank you for putting this game up. if you have more 90's bills games please post them. very nice!

  • i will post nfl's greatest comeback ever Oilers vs Bills 1993 wildcard game

  • do you by chance have the nfl network americas game lost rings

  • guess who had the second greatest comeback in NFL history?

    greatest comeback:

    January 3, 1993

    Bills 41 Oilers 38

    2nd greatest comeback:

    January 5, 2003

    49ers 39 Giants 38

  • I'm guessing that you mean playoff history. In 1980 the 49er's came back from a 35-7 deficit to beat the Saints in OT, 38-35.

  • @donte300 i'm a 49er fan but thank you so much for putting this game up, it reminds me of their glory days

  • @gntluvr

    Yeah, I Love the 49ers.

This is when they were the team to beat now, teams love to beat-up on them.

  • Here are the stats for this No Punt Game

    Week 1 (1992)

    Bills 40 Rams 7

    49ers 31 Giants 14

    Week 2 (1992)

    Bills 34 49ers 31

The first time in NFL history a game is played without a punt. Both teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offense.

  • I remember this game really well. I was a junior in highschool, and am a huge 49er fan. This came down to the end, and the safety Dana Hall got burned a bit in this shoot out. I miss how good the 49ers used to be.

  • this was a great game!

  • yeah but where is joe montana

  • Montana sustained serious injuries at the end of the 1999 NFC Championship game and was out for almost 2 full years. He played a half for the Niners on MNF during the last week of the '92 season then moved to KC in '93

  • to correct it was the 1990 championship not 99

  • Yeah, thanks for correctng my mistake I didn't proofread D'OH!

  • please

  • Thanks for this! Can you upload the whole game?
