I thought Infamous was the worst game ever for a couple years now. I just played the Infamous 1 and 2 demo (INFAMOUS 2 IS AMAZING, BETTER THAN THE FIRST) and thought "Holy shit". I played Prototype on my 360 for those couple years and beat the game with EVER upgrade available. I had ridiculous amounts of fun in the game but when I played the Infamous 1 and 2 demos, I died and went to heaven. "Nuff' said" - Stereotypical black guy quote
any one in the right mind would pick infamous over prototype. it has a MUCH betr story and MUCH better grafics. the only reson i can see any one chooseing prototype is the simple fact that there Xbox fans are jelous that infamous is a ps3 only game.
Prototype was a big win over Infamous for me, and yes, I own and play both. There is more of a variety of characters in Prototype, you can be whoever you want, and who doesn't love being able to scale a building just by running up it, and "flying" over people. Also, the number of special moves you can pick up in Prototype is downright staggering. Infamous has gangsters in red hoods and lightening... hmm... Maybe the story was better, but if I'm looking for a real story, I'll watch a movie.

Infamous: A game with a unforgettable story of a man who just blew up an entire city by accident and gaining superpowers in the process. You can use your electrical powers to save the people or destroy them. You also try to make up with your girlfriend who later on dies by the hands of you from an alter-dimension, who later on dies by you( so basically suicide).
Prototype: Hurp derp i likee duh throw people/tank/more people/ off of buildings.
So he doesn't play games for gameplay, he plays games for stories and characters. Watch a movie or read a book. You don't watch a movie specifically just for how it looks, or read a book specifically because the words are printed in gold looking ink. Meh,
Infamous is one of those games that I can't even begin to express my love for. In MY OPINION (I know people are going to whine at me about uncharted 2) but I think Infamous is the best single player PS3 exclusive. Anyone who thinks the gameplay is boring either didn't play the game, under the age of 13, or a kid that thinks the transformers movies are amazing. Right now, Red Dead Redemption and this game are fighting for my favorite SP game on the PS3.
I got both on the same day, and played both one after the other. I was surprised as the erie similarities of the both games I pcked randomly at Gamestop. And now I find out that these two games are freaking rivals of one another. What are the odds... Cole FTW cuz infamous has better gameplay, storyline and the karma balance puts it way ahead of prototype aswell as the graphics and the UGC adds an extended experience by being able to play custom missions and storylines.

Prototype is better, I have played both. The reason prototype win is simple you can do sooooo much more than u can in infamous. You have multiple powers and the story has a lot of holes because its a set up for the second one when you play that is the storyline kill to get your memory back then kill who made u who u are. Turns out its you and that's where heller comes in.

Infamous all the way!!!! I used to have only a 360 and only could play prototype.I was super disappointed by that game cuz the controls sucked and the graphics were awful.Just everything about that game sucked and I didn't even finish it cuz it was such a mess.I recently got a ps3 and got infamous as a free game and I gotta say that I loved every minute of it. @Hfajardo97 ok for 1 alex has a Strong ass Defense in shield and armour mode,2 alex has his tendrills which means he has a long range attack,3 alex is gonna have a huge advantage with speed being able to glide and wall run,and force most objects out of his way and also the adrenaline mode.Cole would be Consumed.
Cole has ice and fire powers too! and cole can beat up Alex and with a help from nix and kuo! Or cole is the beast and kick his butt :)!! And one Freeze grenade or rocket........Alex is frozen to slobby Joe .... O.O

@YourChickMagent Cole can use any of his ionic powers to kill Mercer almost instantly. Cole can also put up a shield and with every hit he becomes more powerful. If all else fails Cole can just dodge or blast Mercer away and then drain him.
Story wise Infamous is a lot stronger. Prototype I felt a little lost and Mercer didn't question a lot of his actions or motives. Cole is a more believable character Alex felt a little hollow. Very rarely you will see Alex express emotion. In Infamous you clearly know your motive. Both characters are cool in their own way. Cole is more witty the talk from the start of Infamous is interesting and has tasteful humour. Alex is more of a deadly serious don't cross my path kinda thing.
@deadandliving Cole is better in every way. He can also go around killing EVERYONE! That is what i like. You have a choice in and it affects the game. Infamous in general is a far superior game.
@Hfajardo97 I do agree. The is way more I like about Infamous. Better character more engaging story. Prototype's cut scenes were pretty much boring not a lot happened in them. From what I played I didn't learn a lot about Mercer's back story. From trailers from Infamous it tell's you about Cole. You are always learning about his personality how he ticks and his back ground.
I'm not saying Prototype is a bad game. I think it just needs a lot more work on gameplay and story.
I've played both. Prototype is good but being over powered takes away a lot of the challenge and it gets boring quite quickly.
Infamous is good. I prefer the effort of climbing building while that unaware reaper thinks his alone. The wall running in prototype is cool and the amazing heights you can reach in a single jump is cool. I do wish Mercer was less powerful from the start though.
But in my opinion Infamous is the better game and suited more to my genre and style of gameplay.
I like both but at the end of the day I have to say prototype. For me a sandbox game (With the exclusion of the Elder scrolls series) is about having a load of power running around and blowing shit up. Prototype delivers this sense of power while Infamous which does do a good job feels a bit lacking. Though I will admit the Infamous story kicks the shit out of the Prototype story.

imo definitely PROTOTYPE. Why? Because I love fast paced action. You can fly and get to you're objective sooo fast and also it's way more fun to free roam because there is less restriction. and it's far less buggier
BUT~ I have to give it to infamous for having a WAY better story-line and showing it from both an evil and good perspective. Props,that's why I've played it 3 times over. kept me waiting for part 2. not to mention how much more realistic the graphics were. But still Prototype won.
Prototype. I would rather slice my way through a bunch of people then shooting 100 electric bolts to blow up a car. Then having to recharge my batteries every few minutes.
inFamous is a fun game with good dialogue and story. Prototype is fun, but has a poor, non creative, and muddled storyline. Prototype is also known for its embarrassingly cheesy one liners written to make Alex seem bad-ass, but does the exact opposite. In short, inFamous is more for those who are into story complexity, and Prototype is more for the middle schooler and fraternity boy crowd.
If Sucker Punch and Radical entertainment were allowed to work together for one game, they should Make a game with both of these characters and have co op as well.
Infamous guy: Infamous has a great story, you really feel like you are the character, prototype is just just the same thing over and over again, you could hold down one button and run over everything, its just an action game, Infamous is so much more.
Prototype guy: Who cares about the story, in Prototype you could kill people and run on walls,

That's a good idea we can the government try and use that bomb to blow up Alex but instead they make Cole. And then the FBI agent can tell Cole that Alex was the "Terrorist" who put the bomb in the package and say you have to kill him to get out .
Prototype to me is a better game. And yes I got infamous before I got prototype and now when play infamous sure the story great but for it has no replay value it's so boring and the game play and graphics can't even compare to prototype.
Anyone saying Cole would beat Alex in a fight is just... Wrong... Alex would run up a wall faster than Cole could aim at him and do some massively overpowered bullet dive and kill Cole... @YourChickMagent Cole can use any of his ionic powers to kill Mercer almost instantly. Cole can also put up a shield and with every hit he becomes more powerful. If all else fails Cole can just dodge or blast Mercer away and then drain him.

Story wise Infamous is a lot stronger. Prototype I felt a little lost and Mercer didn't question a lot of his actions or motives. Cole is a more believable character Alex felt a little hollow. Very rarely you will see Alex express emotion. In Infamous you clearly know your motive. Both characters are cool in their own way. Cole is more witty the talk from the start of Infamous is interesting and has tasteful humour. Alex is more of a deadly serious don't cross my path kinda thing.

@deadandliving Cole is better in every way. He can also go around killing EVERYONE! That is what i like. You have a choice in and it affects the game. Infamous in general is a far superior game.

@Hfajardo97 I do agree. The is way more I like about Infamous. Better character more engaging story. Prototype's cut scenes were pretty much boring not a lot happened in them. From what I played I didn't learn a lot about Mercer's back story. From trailers from Infamous it tell's you about Cole. You are always learning about his personality how he ticks and his back ground.
I'm not saying Prototype is a bad game. I think it just needs a lot more work on gameplay and story.

I've played both. Prototype is good but being over powered takes away a lot of the challenge and it gets boring quite quickly.
Infamous is good. I prefer the effort of climbing building while that unaware reaper thinks his alone. The wall running in prototype is cool and the amazing heights you can reach in a single jump is cool. I do wish Mercer was less powerful from the start though.
But in my opinion Infamous is the better game and suited more to my genre and style of gameplay.

I like both but at the end of the day I have to say prototype. For me a sandbox game (With the exclusion of the Elder scrolls series) is about having a load of power running around and blowing shit up. Prototype delivers this sense of power while Infamous which does do a good job feels a bit lacking. Though I will admit the Infamous story kicks the shit out of the Prototype story.

imo definitely PROTOTYPE. Why? Because I love fast paced action. You can fly and get to you're objective sooo fast and also it's way more fun to free roam because there is less restriction. and it's far less buggier
BUT~ I have to give it to infamous for having a WAY better story-line and showing it from both an evil and good perspective. Props,that's why I've played it 3 times over. kept me waiting for part 2. not to mention how much more realistic the graphics were. But still Prototype won.

inFamous is a fun game with good dialogue and story. Prototype is fun, but has a poor, non creative, and muddled storyline. Prototype is also known for its embarrassingly cheesy one liners written to make Alex seem bad-ass, but does the exact opposite. In short, inFamous is more for those who are into story complexity, and Prototype is more for the middle schooler and fraternity boy crowd.

Infamous guy: Infamous has a great story, you really feel like you are the character, prototype is just just the same thing over and over again, you could hold down one button and run over everything, its just an action game, Infamous is so much more.
Prototype guy: Who cares about the story, in Prototype you could kill people and run on walls,

Anyone saying Cole would beat Alex in a fight is just... Wrong... Alex would run up a wall faster than Cole could aim at him and do some massively overpowered bullet dive and kill Cole... But that doesn't change the fact that infamous is a better game. Even though Alex is stronger, playing as Cole is more fun than playing as Alex. The story in infamous is better (btw, the reviewer saying story doesn't matter should go die in a hole) the characters are more likable, and the karma choices are awe
