I see where you went wrong here. Maya doesn't use Copy and paste. You need to use Ctrl+D to Duplicate the Lord Of The Rings Character. Then u can use ctrl A to get it in the centre of the viewport. So you don't have to look around. I had some trouble with that too in the beginning a couple weeks ago, but now I'm almost finished with The Incredibles 2 and well on my way becoming a Millionaire!
