I think you're confusing two words that are similar in Romanji but are very different in Kanji. 星 = HOSHI which does mean means star. But HOSHII, with two I's, is 欲, which means Desire/Want. So the two are very different. 何が欲しいの is the part of the song you're talking about, and it basically means What do you want.
