It confuses me that people find this an amazing scene... it simply isn't.
Both characters aren't developed enough yet and don't have a strong relationship (yet) and suddenly they're having this emotional chat about something that happened years ago, that we don't know anything about.
My hero, Mickey Rourke, still manages to put down a strong performance, but other than that this was just a complete laugh. Bad, bad filmmaking... the scene dropped out of nowhere.
I'm from Serbia, well, I live here now, but I'm from Bosnia by birth. I really don't get why every once in a while, in American movies, with themes like this one has, they mention Bosnia and Serbians. Sure, there was a war there from 92. to 95, but...*sigh*, just let it go already. It gets truly annoying, after seeing few movies that mention it, but actually have nothing to do with it. Otherwise, it's a pretty moving scene, I guess. Movie's nothing special, but it has cool action scenes. :P
@RelapseMan12 Who gives a shit? Its not about war, they are mercenaries. People who kill for money. It has NOTHING to do with America hating the Serbs.

@bozitojugg3rn4ut This scene was the only good part in the movie. "Herry" Potter is a better action movie, at least you can see what the hell's going on. Mickey deserved better.
This scene with Mickey Rourke is what made me categorize the movie from good to great! I was completely taken by surprise with this scene and with the amount of emotion Rourke gives to it.
@CIOlson08 Mickey Rourke, if you watch many movies that he's been, it's practically his trademark to have very Introspective, thought provioking scenes with monologues like this in them. Almost every movie that I've seen him in has at least one scene like this.
I watched this film because I wanted to see action and violence ....... But this scene takes my breath away and surprisingly I like this movie because of this scene
This is my personal favorite movie of 2010! Sly Stallone is real genius and the best action star ever. You can really feel the atmosphere of old good 80's and 90's. It was awesome to see Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, Austin, Li, Crews, Couture, Roberts, Rourke, Daniels in one film. Statham and Charisma Carpenter made a very beautiful and hot screen couple. Now I hope Willis and Schwarzenegger will get more screen time in the future sequels. Also it would be great to see Sandra Bullock in it
Laughed all the way through this scene at the cinema, but then people started giving me funny looks and I realised it was actually meant to be a sad scene.
god damed saro87 if you dont realice that this scene and this movie its problably one the best acion mvovies ever made and you probably are a fucking old man taht nobody cares for or a fucking gay that cryes with drama movies, mickey rourke its a terrific actor!!!!! he has old style the good style learn that you mother fucke cock sucker bitch!!!
@saro87 I understand from your comment that you were never in a war, probably never a Soildier or Marine either.
Many people come home from thoes battles changed. Some even trying to find a way to save whats left of their souls. No one ever talks about it, and they just did. He brought left to the scene in a way few people could.
@sagequan i understand your opinion and its respectable not like the one from the other fucker but i desagre me because i ones had an uncle that wan in WW2 and he always told me his experinces in the field because take in count taht not every one gets hurt or changed like you said the same way, some people can resist to share their xperience to som people, and another thing mickey or tool in the movie is telling that to his comrad not to some random people that very diferent
was really disappointed by this movie, but i really really loved this scene. Reminded me of Metal Gear Solid haha, no specific game but just the whole feel of the monologue
There was a girl that i loved her name was Jess and uh she was the best girlfriend I ever had and I changed her from a good girl to a bad girl and now shes lost to me, so I understand what mickey saying
I never cared much for Mickey, but just the even short 5 min role he had in this movie, made me realize how good an actor he actually is. What a great job in this scene.
I wept when i saw this scene, had a similar experience in west africa with a small child. Rourke is right when he says it will eat your soul. Not a day goes by without that child in my mind.
