With Game Maker 7.0 Lite/Pro, All ya have to do is:

1) Create the sprites (Best way to do it is to c & p) You will use in-game

2) All SMB3 maps are ripped, you can download and tile out the landscaping

3) construct objects for use in game, make sure you use code

4) make the levels, if ripped, add edits

5) play your so-called "ROM Hack" and go from there.

I actually tried GM before I started to ROM hack in late 2007. I immediately tried out djrellik's SMB3 game, as well as another one that I found. Playing the good old NES SMB3 every weekend growing up, I could tell that the physics weren't 100% the same though, and it sort of took the joy out of it for me. Don't get me wrong though; I still do like and respect the work that was put into it, and I've actually thought about doing some new GM stuff lately. GM is NOT the same as ROM hacking though.

I didn't make this specific SMB3 hack. It was made by my friend Googie. :)

You can edit the World Maps in SMB3 by using the SMB3 Map Editor by beneficii. ;)

Did you read the Readme? It pretty much tells you how to do everything. The "Mode" you're in affects what you can do. In "Tiles" mode, left-click to change tiles to the currently selected tile, or right-click a tile to make that the currently selected tile. In "Pointers" mode, left-click to select a pointer, and right-click to move the selected pointer to wherever you're clicking. Keep them in order to reduce problems though. Now I'm out of room. :P Did you see the friend invite? ;)

I once hacked the maps with a hex-editor. I could only hack the tiles, though.

It's too bad you had to cancel QB2, but if you didn't like how it was turning out then you probably made the right decision. I'm still looking forward to your future projects and maybe someday in the future you can still make a QB2, and hopefully one you will be happy with.

Cool, thanks for uploading my hack QC. Yeah this was my first SMB3 hack. And there's only two worlds in this hack, cause when Hukka's editor came out. I went crazy adding more objects and enemies cause other levels to get corrupted. I should redo this hack again since I know the limits of enemy/object placement now... ^_^'
