I saw a ShuPak style Moxon MSL in the background at 9:30. It looked like the one I saw in Trashman242's EDCO videos. A ShuPak style Maxon MSL came to my grandparents' house in Fountain Valley about 4-5 years ago when I was 9 or 10.
Unfortunately I never captured Rainbow's Shupak style Amrep MSL, the ones I knew were trucks 79 - 84 and they were loud and angry sounding Detoits! I'm still kicking myself for not getting them up here. The ones at 9:30 are all Amrep Octo MSL's.
It depends on the company. Most empires (WM, AW, and Republic)replace their fleet after 5 years, however some of the local companies have them around for over 20. Calmet for example has that C&O top pack, that is a 1985 truck. Rainbow, likes to get rid of the old guys, but even they get their money's worth out of the trucks they buy.
@Trashman242 From what I understood they are actually still being used. The reason for this, apparently these trucks are considered NEW down there. The equipment used in Mexico is pretty bad from what I've heard. So if you want to risk life and limb (literally) to visit and chase these trucks, they should still be down there, and should be for years to come. ;-)
@shadofax96 LOL that's amazing...and quite literally haha, life and limb being risked :D The trucks are probably getting beat up down there and without any maintenance to speak of, so it'd be not such a nostalgic and 'joyous' experience after all, come to think of it. But you wonder how many other Cali trucks that fade away end up back in service down there...
If our garbage men had hours to waste everyday cycling this thing and cleaning up all the trash that spills out of the side, our taxes would be doubled to pay for it.
I love the hissing the truck makes during the packing cycle! What was that at 8:22? Looked like he was in a parking lot!? Did they own any other MSLs besides single axle Amreps on CCC when they used these?
It was a cul-de-sac, and the only MSL's they had were single axle Amreps. I remember back in the day they had single axle square body barn door Amreps, but since truck 116 + they've all been the Octo bodies
0:10 sounds like a DD6v92TA powered bus!

Do garbage disposal companies keep their fleets for about 12 years (the same duration of time most transit buses keep their fleets)?

I need to re-word myself on my original reply, as I meant to say "the same duration of time most public transit companies keep their bus fleets."
Also, for how long does Signal Hill Disposal keep their garbage truck fleet?

Wow, I really miss these trucks!

These trucks were sold to a company in Tijuana.

@shadofax96 Do you know if they are actually used for trash collection there? Or just for scrap?
