i saw this too coming home on hwy 24 heading west from wamego to manhattan looking south south east at about 7:25 or so it took off it looked like a greenish light did a u-turn and booked like a shooting star

it is the space shuttle being getting a piggy back ride on a jet plane.. it is very common to see that in the derby wichita area... i grew up in derby and have seen that at least 10 times.

This is horse crap. My mother and father bothed worked for Boieng and Spirit aircraft when the B-2 was still hush hush. When it was sighted people called it in as a U.F.O. In reality Mom and Dad were working on it and were laughing at news reports. Wichita, KS is the air capital of the world. It's just an experimental aircraft, no big deal and the military isn't going to announce that they have a secret project either.

Actually back in the 80's it did come to Kansas on the back of a 747. It was being transported. My mom snuck me into the boieng hanger where she worked to take a look at it. It was pretty cool.

Hawker Beechcraft and Raytheon are one in the same. It's a plane with a space shuttle on top of it. They were transporting it and this is how it's done. That was easy.

It's an Awacs plane. I see them around Mcconnel all the time. The thing on top is a disc shapped radar unit.

McConnell AFB is only a few miles from where photo was taken as well as within as few as 2 to 10 miles from several aircraft manufacturers: Boeing Military Branch, Spirit Aero, Raytheon, Hawker Beechcraft, Cessna, Learjet. But closest being air force base and Boeing Military plant.

No, it is a carrier plane, those planes have very strange shapes, one is even called beluga, because it is like the Beluga Whale.
