Wait Sword and the Sorcerer is a bad movie? BLASPHEMY! This movie was pure fun, triple bladed sword looked ridiculous at first but after the sword shot out blades like missiles I thought it was the most awesome thing in the history of swords since Conan's Atlantean Sword.
I'm not saying you're obligated to call this movie good simply because it has a cult status(I hate a lot of movies that have a cult status) I'm only saying that you might have thought the movie was taking itself seriously.
This movie is Albert Pyun's magum opus, none of his later works were anywhere as good, and it's far superior to any of the Conan clones of the era. The humor in this movie is INTENTIONAL. It works because it revels in its ludicrousness. Watch the banquet battle if you don't believe me. It also works because the Talon character is more of a swaggering smirking swashbuckler than a lumbering barbarian.
Yeah, I tried watching through it, but I just couldn't. I really disliked it that much. And believe me, it's rare for me to dislike movies with an epic amount of ludicrousness ;)
This movie is awesome. The only thing that sucked about it is that they didn't come out with the sequel. Except for the rumors of it 25 years later. This movie is one of my all time favorites, and to call it lousy...That's a small threat. That's a very small threat. Come on now, this beats any trash you see now in movie theaters. Hollywood will fail us all.
Superb idea for A sword but imagine the weight and the 'kid' weilds it with one hand!!! I agree , masterpiece film of the 80's fantasy. Shame we only see the Tri-blade only used twice in the flick and not duelling and shredding cromwell's soldiers whch would have been pretty awesome, I prefer the gauntlet blade he uses at end. When i was younger I did abit of script writing and wrote a remake, should have sent it off, it was not too bad, with CGI and stuff, a remake would be quite good...
If you look at other clips from the movie you'll see that many others enjoy the movie and label it a cult classic as well. To each hi sown I guess. :)
Say what you will about the movie, but that sword was awesome. All the other sword tricks were taken. LAser swords, fire swords, swords that were found in stones, swords that were cut in two and possessed magic powers. The tri-blade, projectile sword was the next advancement in movie sword technology.
I never did figure how those blades shot off. Spring-loaded? Nah...
High camp! Richard Moll as the nasty big red guy back from the dead. Simon MacCorkindale as Mikah. Richard Lynch, always a great bad guy! A great cast, really. I hope they had fun making it.
Are you kidding? This was one of the best fantasy movies of the 80's. Sure it was campy, but dang it was fun to watch! There's a ton of humor in the movie and it's definitely a cult classic.
Ok, when the arrow hits your hand, look up and say, "AAAAAAHHHH." Then act like nothing happened and shoot him with your gun... sword... gun sword... sword-gun?
There are no dumb movies. Only dumb audience.

@Loafaeralus This movie sucked so hard me and my friends cried of laughter.
That´s how bad it was. We were around 18 when we first saw it. Never again. Poor actors. This movie must give them traumatic memories.

Saw it as a kid. Well, the music score was'nt all that bad ;-)

Oh come on. When you were a kid and you first saw this, it was the coolest sword in the world, next to Lion-O's Thundercat weapon.

Trust me, that was the only amusing part of the whole movie.

the titel is so random that it must be cool :D
Anyway there are terrible movies such as planet of the apes that are quite famous/infamous

Hahaha, so true.
Hey, while I've got you here, can I confirm something?
Does the word "Auf" mean "Up" or does it have a few other different meanings?
Loafaeralus 2 years ago
uh how did you figure out im german?
yes, auf means up, but not in every case. Depending on the situation translate it with atop, on, at, onto ect...
Adeltraut 2 years ago
Your username is "Adeltraut" man, thats as german as can be! :D
Thankyou for the translation, that makes more sense to me now. :D

@Loafaeralus And it's amusing BECAUSE of the lousy special effects!

The reason it has three blades is pretty self explanitory. To fire them at enemies and fuck some shit up.
I liked the crucifiction scene.

This is not a dumb movie! It is pure entertainment! This movie is a cult classic along the lines of "Flash Gordon".

Haha, nah man, trust me, it's dumb.
It's so bad I couldn't even get past that bit. I think I finished watching the film, I'm not sure though. It was horrible. :P
