There's only one thing I don't like about this bike. It's said to be a '78, but it's got the side plates from a '79. The the 1978 versions looked quite good on the bike and seemed well-proportioned, but in 1979 they got too long and made the bike look somehow "fat."
Aside from that (and the lack of tank graphics) this is an excellent bike. I wish I had a damn Maico.
My uncle Furman Gray raced a 78 Maico factory ride in 78-79.

i had a maico aw 400 when i was 14 it was the fastest thing i have rode on!!

Actually it's a 400. I also have a 440 engine and that's why i bought 440 decals. It's a 400 now anyway.
